 lorious years
DESCRIPTION:Sant Singh Sukha Singh Khalsa group of schools and colleges cel
 ebrated the completion of 125 glorious years of service to the society. A 
 group of 50 members comprising students\, teachers\, Principals and member
 s of the managing committee paid obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib in the earl
 y morning hours. Thereafter a function was held in Mata Kaulan Marg Campus
  of the institution wherein the students of all SSSS schools and colleges 
 participated in Shabad Kirtan Samagam.\nThe programme started with a soulf
 ul performance by the little students of primary wing\, “Invocation to S
 SSSian Mother”. A historiography presenting the history of 125 years of 
 SSSS was also presented on this occasion.\nDr Nirmaljit Singh Kalsi\, Chie
 f Secretary Deptt of Home affairs Govt. of Punjab was the Chief Guest. Dr.
  Kalsi made a presentation highlighting the innovations made by informatio
 n technology. He emphasized the need to educate the young children to buil
 d their creative and analytical skills and the relevance of value based ed
 ucation all the more in the years to come.\nSSSS award was presented to th
 e following eminent persons:-\nMrs. Arwinder Kaur\, Dr. Roop Singh\, Er. K
 anwaljit Singh Bhatia\, S. Jagjit Singh Walia\, ADCP\, Dr. Padampreet Sing
 h\, Er. Jatinder Singh. Dr. Nirmaljit Singh Kalsi was also honoured by the
  Managing committee.\nS. Jagdish Singh Director highlighted the progress m
 ade by the institution in the past 125 years and motivated the students to
  carry on the legacy of glorious achievements in the times to come.\nSingh
  Sahib Giani Kewal Singh\, S. Kuljeet Singh\, Dr RS Bawa\,VC Chandigarh Un
 iversity\,Sdn. Swarn Kaur \,Dr Manpreet Kaur Principal Khalsa College for 
 Women\, Dr Harpreet Kaur\, S.Brahmjeet Singh\, S.Jasbir Singh Patti\, S.Pi
 ara Singh\, S. Satinder Singh\, S. Gurpreet Singh\, Mrs. Gurinder Suri\, M
 rs Arwinder Kaur were also present on the occasion.\nA book titled “Our 
 Heritage: A Reflection on Global Religions” was also released on this oc
 casion. The event was coordinated by Dr Navdeep Kaur\, Principal\, SSSS Co
 llege of Commerce for Women and her team.

  of discipline in life. She also assured them of various opportunities the
  college will provide to nurture their talent. Above all\, the students st
 anding across the campus in neat rows\, with closed eyes and folded hands\
 , with prayer on their lips-under a little overcast sky and dense green fo
 ilage presented a divine scene.

 ps\, empty bottles and leftover clay\, paint material etc. A large chocola
 te cake made from Plaster of Paris and Colourful paper weight made from ro
 adside pebbles were the major attractions of the exhibition.

DESCRIPTION:This program held between July19\, 2018 to July 21\, 2018 is ai
 med at bringing the students on the teachers closer in a healthy atmospher
 e. The new students who join us in first year of the various Courses are c
 alled on one to one basis to sit with their teacher-in-charge and another 
 subject teacher. They are encouraged to show their aspirations as well as 
 apprehensions with respect to their education and life on the whole. This 
 platform helps student to open up and take a fresh look at her goals and d
 reams. It helps us chalk out various career counseling and financial assis
 tance programme to address the needs of the students. The best thing about
  their project is that it initiates the development of a bond between the 
 students and the college.

 eers took a round of the historic Ram Bagh Garden under the guidance of NS
 S coordinators Mrs. Savita Khanna and Ms. Rupinder Kaur. The volunteers sp
 ent sometimes in cleaning the lawns surrounding the statue of Sher-e-Punja
 b Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The passers by too\, were inspired to join hands 
 in the movement of “Swachh Bharat”.

SUMMARY:A Demonstration session on First Aid techniques
DESCRIPTION:A team of specialists from the District Health Centre conducted
  a special session on August 25\, 2018 in College Campus to educate the st
 udents for a necessary life skill i.e. Medical First Aid in the event of e
 mergency conditions. They demonstrated how to respond to the situations of
  road accidents or any sudden medical emergency at homes or at a public pl
 ace.\nThey informed the students about the ambulance services available in
  the city 24X7 and other such facilities with complete contact details.\nA
 round 150 members of the students council attended this session and found 
 it highly useful.

DESCRIPTION:A seminar was organised by the Faculty Development Forum of the
  College on the theme ‘Managing Classroom Effectively during Teaching’
 . At the outset Dr. Navdeep Kaur extended heartiest welcome to all partici
 pants. While reflecting on the experiences in the field of education she e
 mphasised on having association and good rapport with each student of the 
 class so as to ensure that each student learns with love and enthusiasm an
 d can overcome the learning gaps.\n            Mrs. VijayLaxmi 
 acted as a resource person and made a comprehensive presentation on the to
 pic. She elaborated on the various teaching styles\, developing suitable s
 trategies for maintaining the interest of the students with different lear
 ning abilities and promoting their reasoning ability. The presentation was
  followed by an elaborate discussion on various challenges the teacher fac
 es in terms of curriculum constraints\, the limits of time and the present
  examination system. A few members also raised the issue of individual per
 ception on varying styles of teaching\, called for openmindness and mutual
  confidence amongst the teaching fraternity for a better teaching learning
  environment.

 or Sales Executive) were the resource persons. The Resource person’s inf
 ormed the students about the Banking software being used and the procedure
  followed to record the everyday transactions at the Bank. They also elabo
 rated the front office dealing\; Know Your Customer (KYC) Norms\, Working 
 of NEFT and RTGS\, Payments of interest on deposit account etc. They also 
 explained the banking operations with respect to the various kinds of card
 s viz Credit Card\, ATM Card\, Debit Card offered by the banks these days.
 \n           Around 43 Students attend the seminar and made themselv
 es aware about the day to day function of the bank.

 lanner informed the members of the faculty regarding different investment 
 avenues and their respective benefits for the salaried employees.\nAnother
  session was held on October 25\, 2018 for the Post Graduate students unde
 r the Financial Literacy Program initiated by SEBI.\nA video depicting the
  relevance of developing the habit of savings from an early age was shown.
 The students were also informed about the career opportunities in the inve
 stment sector.\nThe students made lots of queries in the interactive sessi
 on and found the entire presentation highly interesting and useful.\nDr Na
 vdeep Kaur Principal highly appreciated the Resource person and expressed 
 gratefulness to SV Wealth Partners \,the collaborating firm for organizing
  these events in the college.
