SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized Five Days Finishing School Course from March 25-29, 2025 and March 31-April 4, 2025 for Final year students of BCA. This practical, interactive and activity based course is designed to prepare the young female for the future professional life. It aims to ensure that they step into the world of work with confidence, elegance, and that they have the ability to manage personal, professional, and social responsibilities effortlessly.

Each day began with the Mool Mantra, College Anthem and a story from Panchatantra that fostered a spiritual and moral ambiance. There were two sessions each day. In the first session students were acquainted with the purpose of the theme through powerpoint presentations, discussions and activities whereas the second session focused on experiential and hands-on learning activities.  

The first module ‘Personal Grooming & Professional Appearance’ was conducted by Mrs. Jaskiranjit Kaur, Mrs. Vijay laxmi and Ms. Manpreet Kaur. They talked about Personal Branding, how to get ready for professional and authentic presence. Further, Mrs. Harpreet Kaur, the make-up artist, talked and demonstrated how to carry out quick and elegant makeup, and hairstyles for workplace and other events.

Day two focused on ‘Health & Wellness for a Balanced Life’. The sessions were conducted by Mrs Jaskiranjit Kaur, Mrs Vijay Laxmi and Mrs Neha Bhandari. The relevance of personal hygiene using home remedies, and how to plan quick, healthy meals was discussed. Students also learnt and performed yoga for managing Work-Life Energy.

On the third day, considering the modules ‘Soft Skills & Professional Presence’ and ‘Social Etiquette & Hospitality Skills’ , why and how to make communication effective was discussed. Demonstration of table manners & fine dining etiquette for hosting and becoming a gracious guest were the main attraction of the session.  Mrs Jaskiranjit Kaur, Mrs Vijay Laxmi, Mrs Monica Chabbra and Ms. Manpreet Kaur conducted the sessions.

On the fourth day, modules ‘Soft Skills & Professional Presence’ and ‘Social Etiquette & Hospitality Skills’ were conducted by Mrs Jaskiranjit Kaur, Mrs Vijay Laxmi and Mrs Monica Shahi. Significance of understanding personal and professional limits for a balanced life, and how to project a positive and approachable image was the central idea of the module. Students also learnt about Flower Arrangements & Gift Wrapping.

Last session of the five day course focused on the module ‘Home, Wardrobe & Garment Care’. The session was conducted by Mrs Jaskiranjit Kaur, Mrs Vijay Laxmi and Mrs Harpreet Kaur. The speakers talked about home organization & upkeep, and creating aesthetically pleasing and functional spaces at home. Students also learnt the art of draping the Saree.

Overall each session of the workshop focused on equipping young females with essential life skills to balance professional life, social commitments, and personal well-being with confidence and grace.
