Workshop on Swachhta Action Plan

Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education, Department of higher education, Government of India organized an online workshop “Swachhta Action Plan” on August 3, 2021 to promote Swachh, healthy and hygienic environment and greenery in the campus. Ranbir Singh Battan from MGNCRE was the resource person. He stressed on the need for maintaining Swachh campus in higher educational institutions. He presented step by step guide for making campus clean and green. Sh. Gurpreet Singh Khaira, Deputy Commissioner addressed the participant and presented the district Green campus award to the winner institute.

Tree Plantation Drive

A tree plantation drive was organized by the SSSS college of Commerce for Women jointly with Rotary Club Amritsar Centre on August 11, 2021. Around 31 plants saplings were planted at the College Campus under this project. Saplings were also distributed to the students for plantation at their homes.

Rtn. Parveen Mehra, President, Rtn Ravinder Pathania, Secy, Rtn. Rakesh Kapoor, Dist. Secy, P.R., Rtn Rajesh Arora, Zonal chairman and other members of the Rotary club Amritsar Central were welcomed by the college students with floral accords. Distinguished dignitaries presented their views on environment conservation for protection of Mother Nature.

Environmentalist R.D Sharma and Deepak Babbar administered Environment protection oath and encouraged students to ensure proper care of environment and plant saplings. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal highlighted the importance of green initiative for protection of our environment for future generation. S. Jagdish Singh, M. Director, SSSS Institutions, encouraged the students to take initiative for such an endeavor for nature conservation and betterment of society.

Vaccination Drive

A Vaccination camp was organized at the College Campus on August 24, 2021with the help of the Civil Surgeon, Amritsar. The students and their family members and members of the staff were also administered COVID vaccine. In all 200 persons received the dose of vaccine. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal thanked the Civil Surgeon and the team of medical professionals for their co-operation in organizing this Camp. Mrs. Pooja Monga and Mrs. Ravneet Arora were the co-ordinators of the event.

Sanjh 2021
A virtual Alumni Meet ‘Sanjh 2021’ was organized on August 28, 2021 on Google platform. More than 65 alumni graced the occasion along with the present members of the faculty. Mrs. Ravneet introduced everyone to the programme and acknowledged the rich diversity of alumni in terms of the roles they are playing.  Niralam, the theatre group of the College presented the recorded traditional dance ‘Sami’ and Drama ‘Illam, Akhar Te Jaag’ depicting the role of the awared women in the society. Perspectives of alumni were invited regarding the Women Empowerment.  The discussion was about the awareness of each being, irrespective of gender, and auditing of the actions. While addressing the guests, the Principal of the College emphasized enlightenment of the self, the inner beauty of man, for human welfare. 
 
Bhog Sehaj Path Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji: 28th Foundation Day of SSSS College of Commerce for Women
Continuing the legacy of the College, the 28th foundation day was celebrated on September 1, 2021, with great enthusiasm. The Bhog Sehaj Path was performed on this occasion.  Soulful Hymns from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji were sung and Ardas was intoned. S. Jagdish Singh ji, Director, Heads of SSSS institutions, members of the faculty, and students of the first year of graduation of all the courses were present on this occasion. Director Sir acquainted the audience with the relevance of Gurmat Seva, disciplined life, the historical aspect of the establishment of the SSSS Group of Schools and Colleges, and its progress over the last 128 years. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal congratulated the staff and the students for maintaining the Gurmat Traditions of the College. She highlighted the attainments of the College over the 28 years of its establishment. She encouraged students to actively participate in the academic and other co-curricular activities of the College. Students who were actively involved in the GurmatSeva, Shabad recitation and Ardas were honoured. In the end, light refreshment was served to all present during the occasion.  S. Tejpal Singh, Pr. Gurpreet Singh, Mrs. Savita Khanna, Mrs. Arvinder Kaur, Mrs. Varinder Kaur, Mrs. Jaswinder Kaur, S. Satpal Singh and Dr. Gur Rattan Singh were also present on this occasion.
 
75 years of Independent India

In consonance of the guidelines issued by the Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Punjab a series of events was organised by the College to commemorate 75 years of Independent India. Over Nineteen activities were conducted commencing from April 2, 2021 to August 15, 2021. A variety of events on weekly basis such as PowerPoint Presentation, Costume Parade, Essay Writing, Collage making, Tree plantation, Quiz, Slogan writing etc. with participation from various classes comprising B.Com, B.Com (FS), BCA, B.Sc.(Eco.) and M.Com. The students participated with full zeal and fervour and conveyed the important message of patriotism and national spirit. Mrs. Ravneet Arora and Ms. Kiran Bala coordinated the entire series of events. Winners were announced and all participants were awarded certificates.

Certificate course in Soft Skills Award Ceremony

On September 8, 2021, SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized a special assembly to award the certificates to the students who have successfully completed the certificate course in soft skills. This course was conducted from June 23 to July 7, 2021 virtually through google meet to acquaint the students with computer and spoken English skills. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur addressed the students and encouraged them to practice the skills. They have learnt through this program. Certificates were awarded to nearly 100 students. The resource persons Mrs. Monika Shahi, Mrs. Deep, Mrs. Neha Bhandari were also present in the ceremony. The award ceremony was coordinated by Mrs. Harpreet Kaur and Ms. Ramya.

Webinar on Transforming Education

The Amritsar Chapter of Institute of Company Secretaries of India organized a lecture on “Transforming Education” at SSSS College of Commerce for Women on September 8,2021 Amritsar on the occasion of International Literacy Day. A live session was held by the experts from the Institute Mr. Anjum Goel Ms. Radhika where they informed the students about Company Secretary as a valuable career option especially for the commerce graduates. Mrs. Rani, Manager, Amritsar Chapter of ICSI coordinated the event. CS Rishi Mittal, Chairman on behalf of the institute expressed thanks to Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal and the staff for hosting the event. The students were appreciative of this endeavor and found it useful for their career orientation.

Vaccination Drive                                                            

 Another vaccination camp was organized at the college on September 09, 2021 to ad minister vaccination to the students who are ready to join classes for the new session. 215 persons including parents and a few members of staff received the second dose of vaccination. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal thanked the Civil Surgeon and the team of medical professionals for their co-operation in organizing this camp. Mrs. Pooja Monga and Mrs. Ravneet Arora were the coordinators of the event.

Teachers Day Celebration in College                                

 The students from all the classes were invited to inscribe their write ups on the flex board. The students expressed their sentiments and feelings of love and gratitude for their teachers in English, Hindi and Punjabi on the behalf of their class and thus paid tribute to their beloved teachers.

Nutrition for Healthy Young Women 

In view of the nationwide nutrition week observed by NSS, the NSS unit of the college organised a talk on ‘Nutrition for Healthy Young Women’. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal spoke about the importance of healthy eating for good life. Mrs. Harpreet Kaur, a dietician held a highly relevant interactive session with the students to educate them about the nutritional value of various food items and how healthy eating habits can lead to a healthy lifestyle. The NSS volunteers presented a plant sapling as a token of gratitude to the resource person. Mrs. Dilpreet Kaur and Ms. Mamta were the coordinators of the event. 

Workshop on Critical Thinking                   

SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized a workshop on ‘Critical Thinking’ on Sept19, 2021. S. Jasjit Singh, a US based intellectual and thinker was the chief resource person. The theme of the workshop was to inculcate the practice of informed learning and awareness among the youth. The workshop was divided in three sessions. The first two sessions were interactive in nature wherein participants discussed certain topics among themselves in clusters. In the last session, the resource person highlighted the idea of thinking out of the box and to widen the mind horizons. He also emphasized to be reflective about the information being circulated on varied platforms at present and make a critical differentiation among myth, fact and truth. A panel of experts from Guru Nanak Dev University, Khalsa College and members of the staff from the college participated in the workshop. They found the workshop highly intriguing and interactive. The book Paigam-e- Baba Nanak “Sri Japji Sahib” was also presented to the resource person as a token of gratitude by the college.  

NSS day” Relevance and Opportunities”              

The NSS unit of the college celebrated the NSS day on Tuesday, September28, 2021. The students of M.Com-I and M.Com-III Semester shared annual report of the NSS unit highlighting the glimpses of the NSS activities conducted in the college, during the year 2020 through power point presentation. Ms Ramya from the Deptt. Of Commerce shared her views on the relevance of this day. Ms. Kiran Bala from the Dept. of Punjabi motivated the students to become responsible first of all towards self and then for the society, nation and the total environment. Mrs. Dilpreet Kaur, the College NSS coordinator presented the vote of thanks.

Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club              

The First Installation Ceremony of Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar was held in the College Hall Rose Villa on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.

 Ms. Sukhpinder Kaur, M.Com was appointed Student President and accorded ceremonial Collar and Charter of the Club. Ms Saranpreet Kaur, the Student Secretary and other ten office bearers received pins indicating their respective positions in the club. 

Rotarion Dr US Ghai Distt Governor was the Chief Guest and Rtn Sh Rohit Oberoi Distt Secy was the Guest of Honour.The prominent members from the Amritsar Central Rotary Club were present on the occasion.

The Chief Guest welcomed the rotaract cyclists coming from Kerala covering the distance of 32000 km for spreading the message of peace, brotherhood and service on pedals. He congratulated for Charter Day of SSSS College of Commerce, Amritsar and encouraged the rotaracts to be responsible leaders who can bring desirable social changes by treading the path of moral and ethical values. 

Jagdish Singh Ji, M. Director, SSSS Institutions, blessed the audience, shared his words of wisdom and encouraged the students to be the rotarian in letter and spirit by spreading the fragrance of love and selfless service.

 Dr. Navdeep Kaur, the Principal of the college briefed about the legacy of the college, congratulated all present on the occasion for the successful execution of the ceremony. She presented the token of gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guest of the day and other dignitaries and the vote of thanks. 

Rtn. Rajesh Arora presented the vote of thanks on behalf of Rotary Club Amritsar Central.

Inter-College Math-Fest                                                  

Our students participated in the Inter-College competition ‘Math-Fest 2021’ held at Khalsa College, Amritsar on Thursday, Sept 30, 2021. Out of the thirteen participants, six won the prizes as mentioned below:

  1. Pallavi B.Sc. Sem-V won the Ist prize in poster making.
  2. Soni Bharti of B.Com (FS) Sem-V won the 2nd prize in poster making.
  3. Pallavi of B.Sc. Sem-V and Sandhya of BCA Sem-V won consolation prizes in Rangoli.
  4. Partiksha of BBA Sem-I and Simarpreet Kaur of B.Com Sem-III won consolation prizes in debate competition.

Awareness Programme on “Environment and its Importance”

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar in an endeavor to serve the community by making the young children aware  about the various environmental issues, carried out an awareness programme on “Environment and Its Importance” on October 04,2021. With the aim of motivating the children to do their bit for protecting the environment, the Rotaract Club of SSSS College visited Govt. Sen. Sec. School, Shivala Road. The President, The secretary and the directors of the club interacted with the students on various topics such as waste management, deforestation, Water conservation etc. The team was headed by Mrs. Ravneet Arora and Dr. Tina Vohra.

The rotaractors also distributed packages of fruit juices among the students.

The Principal of the school, Mrs. Joginder Kaur Shingari thanked the entire team and appreciated the efforts they were making to protect the environment.

UTKARSH Scheme of SBI Life Insurance                

A seminar on ‘Career Opportunities in Insurance Sector with special reference to the UTKARSH Scheme of SBI Life Insurance had been organized in the college premises on October 4, 2021. Mr. Bawleen Singh (Senior training Manager) Mr. Rahul Khanna (Development Manager) and Mrs. Sonia (Development Manager) from SBI Life Insurance were the resource persons. Mr. Bawleen Singh acquainted the students with the UTKARSH Scheme of SBI Life Insurance under which students can get an opportunity to be Licensed Insurance Advisor. He also threw light on the fact that how this scheme can help them to build a successful career in a reputed organization SBI Life Insurance.135 students from B.Com, BBA, B.Sc. (Eco) and BCA attended the session and 114 students registered for their 2 days training programme at SBI corporate office. The session was quite interactive and informative for the students.

Personal Contact Programme

To develop a bond of trust with the newly admitted students, Personal Contact Programme (PCP) was conducted for the Ist year students of the college on 21-23rd September, 2021. During the PCP, a panel of experts met each student individually in order to understand their family background learning needs and career aspirations. The observations were noted so that suitable programmes for their growth and development can be organized during the session.

As a part of the project every student filled an online questionnaire pertaining to her aspirations regarding career and personal development which will further help in designing suitable programs for them.

Awareness Programme regarding “Environment and its Importance”

The Rotaract Club unit of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized a special event under the communities linkage programme & utilize the young children to adolscents about environment conscious. A team of Rotaractors led by the faculty

A team of seven students (rotaractors) including the President and Secretary of the club led by Mrs. Ravneet Arora and Dr. Tina Vohra visited Govt. Sen. Sec. School, Shivala Road.

The programme began with the recitation of the National Anthem. The students presented their views on the topic “Environment and its Importance”. The students also recited various poems in order to create awareness about the environment and the need for protecting the environment among the students.

The Principal of the school, Mrs. Joginder Kaur Shingari also addressed the students on the need to reduce, reuse, recycle and recover i.e. the 4Rs of waste management.

After this, the rotaractors distributed packages of fruit juices among the students and interacted with them.

The team of members along with the teachers presented a vote of thanks to the Principal and staff of the school for giving an opportunity to organize such an event.

Art and Craft Workshop                                         

 An Art and Craft Workshop was organized for the students of Junior College on Saturday, October 09, 2021 in Lafani Hall. Kanish Taan, M.Com Sem-I taught the finer tips of painting a landscape. 56 students from Junior college learnt the art and expressed their love for nature through beautiful pictures.

Voter Registration Camp

Voter Registration Camp was organized on October 11, 2021 I the College Campus to facilitate the students who are above the age of 18 years and have not been already registered as voters. 250 students submitted their applications for registration as per guidelines issued by District Election Office Amritsar.

District Level Competition for Poster Making ‘Slogan & Quiz   

The District level competition was organized by Red Ribbon Club & Directorate of Youth Services Punjab on Tuesday October 12, 2021 at Khalsa College, Amritsar.6 students of our college participated in Slogan Writing, Poster Making and Quiz Competition. Ms. Aanchal Sharma from B.Com Sem-V won third prize in Poster-Making. The nodal officers of NSS unit Mrs. Dilpreet Kaur and Ms. Mamta Arora were honored by the team of Red Ribbon Club & Directorate of Youth Services Punjab at Khalsa College, Amritsar.

Book Bank Fair under the project ‘Saugaat’

A book-bank fair was organised in the college on October 12, 2021 under the project ‘Saugaat’. Under this scheme, the students of the college were given an opportunity to take the books free of cost.

Approximately 750 books, based on various disciplines like Commerce, Economics, Management, Computer Science, Literature (English & Punjabi), Religion, Spirituality and competitive examination were made available to the students in the college campus. To consolidate the tenet of ‘sharing with others’, the students were invited to come up with any book and take any book of their choice in return from the Book Bank. The enthusiasm amongst the students was clearly visible in this unique book fair.

It was noteworthy that the students were much interested in the books related to literature and general knowledge. Director, S. Jagdish Singh inaugurated the college book fair and inspired the students to inculcate in them the habit of reading. Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur expressed satisfaction and happiness over the immense response of the students and thanked the staff members for their co-operation. Mrs. Simranjit Kaur (Librarian) and Mrs. Monica Chhabra were the coordinators of the event.

Good to Great- A Pathway to Self- Development

Seminar Committee of the college organised a seminar on the topic’ Good to Great – A Pathway to self-development’ on October 14, 2021. Mr. Rishi Kochhar, coordinator, Amritsar policy group was the resource person. He acquainted the students with the various traits required for the growth both at personal and professional level. Mr. Rishi used many tools and techniques to improve self-confidence and public speaking the session also included few videos to intro spect the various aspect related to financial sector. 50 students from B.Com (Financial Services) and around 10 from other classes attended the session Mrs. Ravneet Arora coordinated the event and Dr. Moninder Kaur presented the vote of thanks. The session was highly interactive and informative.

Good to Great- A Pathway to Self- Development Session-II

Seminar Committee of the college organised a seminar’ Good to Great – A Pathway to self-development Session-II’ on October 16, 2021. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur addressed the students of B.Com (FS) final year and few members of student council. She started the session with the difference between the knowledge and knowing. She highlighted that every human being possesses great potential and using the path of visualizing goal, chalking out path, staying focused, doing self-audit and repeatedly checking the goal, one can aspire to be great. She persuaded the students to think beyond self to achieve greatness in life. The session was quote thought provoking as well as informative for the students.

Lecture on Mental Wellbeing and Happiness

SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized a lecture on ‘Mental Well-being and Happiness’ on October 23, 2021. Dr. Moninder Kaur, Senior Asst. Prof. in Economics introduced the guest speaker Dr. Rupan Dhillon, Senior Asst. Prof., Dept. of Psychology, Guru Nanak Dev University.

While delivering the welcome address, Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal informed that the college focuses on development of women professionals with happy minds and lives. She also asked students to always keep a high self-esteem. Dr. Rupan, through her presentation, elucidated the meaning and relevance of Mental Health. She also highlighted various models that depict the importance of spirituality, self-direction, love, family and friendship and how imbibing these can help maintain a good mindset. The explanation of the Triguna Theory of Ayurveda helped students analyze their own personality. Towards the end, the resource person emphasized the importance of writing a daily diary, doing physical activity, socializing and living in the present for leading a happy life.

Dr. Samriti Kapoor, Asst. Prof. in Commerce presented the Vote of Thanks. Faculty members, students of B.Com (FS)-V, BBA V and members of student council attended the highly insightful session and recorded their appreciation through the online feedback system.

Cleanliness rally (Under Clean India Programme)

The NSS Unit of College organized a cleanliness rally in the college campus as per the guidelines of ‘Department of Youth Affairs and Sports’, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on Monday 25 October, 2021. 60 Volunteers of NSS Unit participated in this rally and spread the message of cleanliness using placards showcasing different Slogans like’ Hum Sab Ka Ek Hi Nara, Saaf Suthra Ho Desh Humara’, ‘ Clean India Green India’. Clean and healthy people make a prosperous Nation”. Refreshments were served to all participants.

Online Workshop on IPR

In association with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management, Nagpur, SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized on Online Workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights and Patent Process’ on October 25, 2021. Mrs. Pooja Vishal Maulikar was the resource person for this session. Dr. Moninder Kaur introduced the resource person & informed the participants about the relevance of the IPR.

Delivering the welcome address Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur emphasized the role of educational institutions in encouraging, nurturing creativity and securing the rights of the creators. Mrs. Pooja Vishal, the resource person elaborated the patent rights, copyrights, design and geographical indicators. The resource person shared her valued knowledge with participants on Intellectual Property, its types and explained the concept with real life examples. The IPR filing procedure was also discussed in detail by the resource person.

A question answer round was held at the end of the session wherein the resource person addressed the queries of the participants. Dr. Moninder conducted the event. More than 100 participants including students, faculty and members from other educational institutions participate in the session.

Majlis’2021’

A special session ‘Majlis’ was organized for the students of all classes from October 19 to October28, 2021. The students participated in the items such as dance, singing, extempore, act, and poetry recitation and gave wonderful performances. The Senior and Junior students connected and exhibited their respective talents. Approximately 150 students participated in the event. The entire series of events was coordinated by Ms. Kiran, Ms. Harpreet Kaur, Ms. Harleen & Ms Ramya.

Workshop on ‘Idea Generation for Startups’ (October 28, 2021)

Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, GNDU, Amritsar organized a workshop in hybrid mode on ‘Idea Generation for Startups’ in collaboration with Innovtaion Mission, Punjab on October 28,2021. Two faculty members and 7 students attended the session. The session served as a good opportunity for the students to know about the history of successful startups and to learn from the experiences of the entrepreneurs. Mr. Pramod Bhasin, Chairperson, Innovation Mission, Punjab apprised the participants about the incentives to be provided under the ROAR program such as cash prizes, free co-working space, global mentorship etc. Furthermore, Ms. Anchal, entrepreneurship expert, held an interactive idea generation session where participants were encouraged to think about innovative and out- of- the box ideas. To sum up, the workshop was considered as an amazing experience for all.

Lightning the Diwali of the Needy (October 29, 2021)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, always on the forefront to bring happiness to the lives of others carried out an initiative of “Lightning the Diwali of the Needy”. The Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for women led by Dr. Tina Vohra  and Dr. Samriti Kapoor in order to spread the message “We share because We Care” visited the Nishkam Sewa Public School, Amritsar.  Nishkam Sewa Public School is a school for downtrodden and rag pickers .The rotractors celebrated an ecofriendly Diwali with the students by distributing stationery and homemade Diwali gifts to 190 students. The rotractors apprised the students about the harmful effects of celebrating Diwali using crackers. Shri Sardar Singh, Principal of the school, appreciated the efforts of the team and conveyed his gratitude to Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal SSSS College of Commerce for women for this initiative. 

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge (October 30, 2021)

As per the guidelines of Government of India to celebrate ‘National Unity Day’. The NSS unit of SSSS College of Commerce for Women conducted a special event on the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31, 2021. Rashtriya Ekta Diwas oath ceremony was celebrated to mark the occasion. 60 NSS Volunteers took the pledge to preserve the unity Integrity and Security of the Nation and also-strive hard to spread this message among fellow countrymen.

Gurpurab of Sri Guru Ram Das Ji (November 02, 2021)

The Gurpurab of Sri Guru Ram Das, Sikhs’ fourth Guru and founder of Amritsar Sahib was celebrated with religious fervor and devotion at SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar. Students of the college, and sister institutions recited the Gurbani Kirtan, Shabad, and Poem in praise of Guru Ram Das ji. Student of the college offered Ardaas. The spiritual ambience of devotional holy hymns sparked a religious fervor in the air.  

S. Jagdish Singhji, Director, appraised the sangat about the spiritual, moral values and teachings of the Guru Sahib for leading a simple life full of peace. He added that teachings of Guru Sahib are eternal and invaluable.

Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal of the college, congratulated all on this occasion and shed light on the life, philosophy and directives of the Guru Sahib. She emphasized that everyone, especially today’s youth needs to imbibe the values of patience, tolerance, honesty, equality, caring and sharing as these values will shape them into a true human being. Students actively and enthusiastically participated in preparing and serving Langar.

Students who performed kirtan, Gurmat Sewa, and participated in competitions held of SGPC were honoured. Teachers were also honoured for their selfless service.

Diwali Mela (November 03, 2021)

To keep the spirit of festive season, the student council of the college organized dance and music programme to celebrate Diwali on November 3, 2021. On this occasion Mehndi Competition was also organized and around 50 students showcased their talent. All the students participated with full zeal and enthusiasm. They were delighted to celebrate such a programme after pandemic. Director S. Jagdish Singh Ji and Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur applauded the efforts of the students and wished them a very happy and safe Diwali.

 Election Rally 2021

As per guidelines issued by District Election Office, Amritsar an Election Rally was organized in the College Campus on November 8, 2021 to sensitize the students regarding their voting rights. Webinar on ‘Financial Literacy’

A webinar was organized by the Department of Commerce on the topic ‘Webinar on ‘Financial LiteracyAn Overview of Securities Market’ under BSE’s ’Investor Awareness Program’ on November 9, 2021. Mr. Shamsher Singh, a SEBI certified Financial Advisor was the resource person. He explained in a very simple manner regarding the components of stock market and various Dos and DONT’s of investing in securities market. The resource person appraised the participants regarding the Investor’s Grievance Readdress of system and Investor’s Protection Fund created by SEBI for protecting the interests of investors. Around 65 students from semester-I of B.Com and BBA attended this webinar through digital platform ‘ZOOM APP’. It was a good learning experience for all the participants.

Bibi Raj Devi Divas

Bibi Raj Devi Divas was celebrated on November 10, 2021 to commemorate Bibi Raj Devi, wife of S. Sant Singh Ji, the founder of SSSS. Dr Inderjit Kaur, President of All India Pingalwara Society was the Chief Guest and S. Mukhtar Singh, Hony. Secy. was the Guest of Honour. S. Jagdish Singh, M. Director,  while addressing the audience, talked about the Visionary Bhagat  S. Puran Singh, founder of Pingalwara Society and environmentalist, who dedicated his life towards suffering humanity. During the occasion, Director of SSSS proposed to open another educational institution dedicated to Bibi Gujari, wife of S. Sukha Singh, son of S. Sant Singh.   Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal, welcomed the Chief Guest and talked about her devotion and leadership qualities for welfare, progress and prosperity of the society.

Niralam, the College theatre group presented a play written and directed by Ms. Kiran, Incharge Cultural affairs, dedicated to the women spiritual leaders from medieval Indian history who are epitome of women Power and Liberation. The number of the staff viz. Ms. Harpreet Kaur, Ms. Maninder Kaur, Ms. Ramya and Ms. Sukhpinder Kaur student of M.Com Sem-V gave heart touching performances as they portrayed the characters of Women Saints. Dr. Inderjit Kaur, while talking about the contribution of different social reformers, underlined the need to have quality education and continuing the legacy of rich Indian culture to have disciplined healthy and progressive society; promoting the spirit of sharing and contributing for feeling the sense of spirituality.  

Dr. Inderjit Kaur and S. Mukhtar Singh Goraya were honoured for their contribution to the Pingalwara society.  Mrs. Monika Shahi, Mrs. Priyanka Sharma, Mrs Jaismeen Kaur, Mrs. Rupinder Kaur and members of Niralam Group were honoured with plant saplings. Sardarni Swarn Kaur, Members of Management, Principals and Students of SSSS institutions were present during the occasion. Principal of the College proposed the Vote of Thanks. 

Business Quiz (November 13, 2021)

Department of Commerce & Business Management of SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized Business Quiz on November 13, 2021. The participants for the Business Quiz were selected through a preliminary round held on October 16, 2021 in which 110 students appeared. Three teams with three participants in each team completed through 6 rounds. Biz-e-buzz, sports, politics, general awareness, subject awareness, infotainment.

Principal, Dr. Navdeep kaur, highlighted the availability of unlimited development potential of human intellect and encouraged the students to upgrade themselves through steady & intensive learning so as to become eligible to qualify any mode of evaluation.

Ridhima (B.Com Sem-III), Vanshika (B.Com Sem-III) and Janvi (B.Com FS Sem-I) were declared as the winners of the Business Quiz.

Children’s Day Celebrations (November 15, 2021)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women celebrated the real essence of childhood with the children of Buds’ Charm School (Pre Primary Wing of Modern High School).The Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar led by faculty members Dr. Tina Vohra and Ms. Mamta Arora visited Buds’ Charm School and performed various storytelling and entertainment activities in order to apprise the students about the importance of healthy eating habits. The rotaractors including the President Ms. Sukhpinder Kaur and Secretary Ms. Saranpreet Kaur, distributed bananas among 150 students and motivated them to eat fruits, vegetables and pulses etc. instead of junk food.

Mrs Arvinder Kaur, Principal of the school thanked Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal of SSSS College of Commerce for Women for this initiative.

Role Play (November 16, 2021)

Students of class M.Com semester 1 enacted role plays on themes – Consumer Awareness, advertisement of hair shampoo, awareness against child marriage, advertisement of roti maker, jago grahak jago, and apni sehat apne hath.

Judgement was on the basis of parameters like content, coordination, synchronization, message & Tag-line and time taken. The opportunity of enactment gave students the chance to showcase their potential.

Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur, while addressing the audience congratulated all the participants and emphasized on participating in allied activities and exploring the world of knowledge for having experiential learning.

Dr. Samriti Kapoor coordinated the event. Mrs. Priyanka Sharma, Mrs. Harpreet Kaur and Ms. Kiran Bala form the panel of judges. The act performed on “Consumer Awareness” by Team of M.Com Sem-I comprising Simran, Himanshi, Muskan, Ridhi, Aprna and Kanish was adjudged the best.

Inauguration Ceremony (SOVINA) (November 17, 2021)

The newly built block ‘SOVINA’ the centre for excellence was inaugurated on Nov 17, 2021 in the presence of Principal, staff, students & Member Director S. Jagdish Singh Ji. “SOVINA” comprises beautifully designed work spaces for Music, NSS, Student Council and Research and Publication Units. Students recited Gurbani and Ardas was intoned to the Supreme Power for His blessings. S. Jagdish Singh, Director spoke about the importance of sound infrastructure for uplifting the quality of service and Dr. Navdeep Kaur mentioned the good work executed by the staff w.r.t various co-curricular activities urged the members & students to strive for excellence in all fields.

Seminar on E-Learning Tools and Digital Platforms (November 24, 2021)

A seminar on E-learning Tools and Digital Platforms was conducted by SSSS College of Commerce for Women at Govt. Sen. Sec. School for Girls, Shivala Road, Amritsar on November 24, 2021. Ms. Riya Verma from BCA Sem-V apprised the students of 10+2 regarding various tools and platforms that could help them adapt to blended learning environment. She further informed how these are significant in enhancing their skills and make them job ready. Later, Mrs. Pooja Monga, Head, Department of Computer Science, along with her team interacted with the students and answered their queries w.r.t. career choices after 10+2. She spoke about building computer related skills for better career prospects.

Principal of the school expressed her thankfulness for Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal College & the faculty for organizing such fruitful session.  

Session on ‘Success Mantra for Government Competitive Exams’ (November 24, 2021)

Placement Committee of the College organized a session on ‘Success Mantra for Government Competitive Exams’ on Nov 24, 2021 for the students of final year classes. Mr. Jatinder and Mr. Jatin Mohan Sharma, the experts from IBT institute informed the final year students about various upcoming openings in various government department & public sector units for graduates in Commerce/Business Administration, Computer Science and Economics. Students were also updated about the different levels of exams, eligibility criteria and other details for UPSC jobs. In addition to this, the resource person also enlightened them about the success stories of women toppers of various competitive exams. Mr. Jatin Mohan gave a few useful tips for solving mathematical and reasoning questions. Altogether, 168 students attended the session and raised a variety of queries to the resource persons.

Seminar on National Income Accounting (December 01, 2021)

The Economics Department of SSSS College of Commerce for Women conducted a seminar on ‘National Income Accounting’ at Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Shivala Road, Amritsar on December 1, 2021. Mrs. Ravneet Arora, Assistant Professor in Economics acquainted the students with the different concepts and methods of measurement of National Income. She also explained various points to to be taken into account while estimating national income. Mrs. Harbir Kaur, Assistant Professor in Commerce gave tips to the students for better preparation in the upcoming board exams. The faculty also handled the queries of the students and wished them good luck for their finals. Mrs. Joginder Kaur Shingari, Principal Govt. Sr. Sec. School extended gratitude to Team SSSS for organizing such an effective seminar.

Quiz Competition to memorialize Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji

The quiz competition was held at Bibi Raj Devi Block in which 77 students (Degree College) and 46 students (junior college) participated. The cash prizes were given to the merit position holders namely Manjot Kaur (B.Com Sem III), Gurjeet Kaur (B.Com Sem V), Kirandeep Kaur (B.Sc.  Sem I), Simranjit Kaur (BBA Sem I), Arshdeep Kaur (BCA Sem V), Ridhi Sharma (+1 Commerce), Anmolpreet Kaur (+2 Commerce), Parneet Kaur (+2 Commerce) and Manpreet Kaur (+2 Commerce). Participation certificates were given to the qualified students as well. 

M.Com Ka Dhaba (December 09, 2021)

Students of M.Com Sem-I and III of the college organized a fun-filled activity ‘M.Com Ka Dhaba’ on December 09, 2021. All students participated enthusiastically in organizing this amazing food event and displayed their wonderful hospitality skills by inviting all faculty members to this event. Additionally, students also presented their talents in singing, dancing and poem recitation. Every one relished the delicious food and more importantly happy to witness their organizational skills.

Overall, it was an enriching experience for the students as well as the faculty.

Voter Awareness Event “SVEEP” (December 11, 2021)

As per the guidelines of Election Commission of India, a Voter Awareness session was organized under the project ‘SVEEP’ in collaboration with the office of Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar on December 11, 2021. A formation of letters depicts the title of the event “SVEEP” was made by the students in the college ground to promote Voter Awareness. Later, Mr. Raj Kumar, Nodal Officer, SVEEP (North ASR-15) spoke above the importance of casting vote to the right candidate for the bright future of the nation. In the end, Ms. Samridhi of BCA Sem-I presented the vote of thanks & redirected on the behalf of the fellow students to cast their voting rights in a responsible manner. The Nodal Officer & their team expressed their thankfulness & the College Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur & Mrs. Pooja Monga the College Nodal Officer for their Cooperation.

Spreading warmth this Christmas (December 22, 2021)

The Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar undertook an initiative “Spreading Warmth this Christmas”.  Celebrating the festival of love & compassion. Keeping the spirit of Christmas alive through extending love & compassion to every human being without any discrimination a project “Spreading the Warmth” was executed.

The staff & members of the faculty pooled their surplus woollen clothes gifted them away in neatly packaged bundles to all these who wanted & receive the same ahead of harsh winter. Around 1000 pieces of winter clothes were gathered & gifted to the needy. These clothes were distributed among the employees of the college and the outsiders who were in need of these clothes spreading the warmth to around 30 people as well as their families this Christmas.

Rotractors led by Dr. Tina Vohra, President Ms. Sukhpinder Kaur and Secretary Ms. Saranpreet Kaur executed the entire project in a smooth & efficient manner. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal congratulated the rotaractors for their good work and told them to keep up the spirit of nobility.

Senior Junior Interaction (December 24, 2021)

Special “Finishing Class” was held for Ist and IInd year students whereby tips for better preparation and presentation were given by the Senior students to their juniors. The subject experts from   amongst the faculty also joined to valuable guidance. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal attended also such session and motivated the students to work in a methodical & consistent manner to avoid stress & anxiety during the exam days. Gurpawandeep Kaur and Navneet Kaur from BBA Sem V, Saranpreet Kaur, Vanshika, Kritika, (B.Com (FS) Sem V), Muskan Mahajan, Kanish (M.Com Sem-I)Riya Verma and Kanika (BCA Sem V) guided their juniors efficaciously.

National Youth Day (12 January, 2022)

The NSS Unit of SSSS College of Commerce celebrated ‘National Youth Day’ on January 12, 2022 (Wednesday). The event was organized to give tribute to famous Indian Philosopher ‘Swami Vivekananda’ Ji. The event started with the welcome speech by Mrs. Dilpreet Kaur (Asst. Prof. in Commerce’). Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal shared her views with students and formally welcomed the resource person Ms. Khushboo Kumari. Ms. Khushboo shared a presentation on ‘Emotional Intelligence’. She emphasized on being emotionally balanced for leading a successful life. Ms. JanhviKhosla (B.ComSem-I A), Ms. Prishita Gulati (BBA Sem-III), Ms. Kanchan (B.Com Sem-V) also shared information about life and contribution of Swami Vivekananda ji’s and also highlights a few inspirational quotes from his speeches. Ms. Mamta Arora (Asst. Prof. in Commerce) delivered a vote of thanks.

Webinar on Emotional Intelligence (12 January, 2022)

A webinar was organized on the topic “Emotional Intelligence” Ms. Khushboo Kumari, a certified trainer and counsellor delivered a talk on the subject elaborating the types of intelligence and traits of emotional intelligence. She specifically illustrated the cases of emotional abuse and how to safeguard oneself in such circumstances. The students from this talk immensely useful and enlightening. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal in her welcomed address informed the students about the wide experience of the resource person in corporate and public sector organization. She highly lauded the counselling skills of Ms. Khushboo which enabled her to emphathize and connect with the client.

Webinar on Wonderful Conversation (18 January, 2022)

A three day workshop “Wonderful Conversation” was organized to inculcate the art meaningful and effective formal/ informal communication amongst the students. The introductory session began on January18, 2022 with Mrs. Harbir Kaur, Co-ordinator informing the participants about the topic and areas to be covered. Thereafter Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal welcomed the participants and introduced the resource person Ms. Ashima Batra, a certified corporate trainer and media expert. She informed the participants about her rich experience as a Radio and TV host, trainer of soft skills and a communication expert and thanked her for her readiness to educate the young students over the three session on the succeeding days. Ms. Ashima Batra spoke about the common mistakes generally made in every day conversation and she illustrated ways of effective and powerful communication with the help of animation slides and case studies. Student’s participated in various fun games and learnt the essential tips in an interesting manner. A quiz was given to assess the learning outcomes and discussion session was held to answer the queries.            

Book Bank Fair ‘Saugaat’ (January 21 and 24, 2022)

Another Book Bank Fair was organized under the project Saugaat. More than 200 students from across the rural areas of Punjab visited the Mall Road Campus of SSSS Group of Schools and Colleges on 21 January and 24 January, 2022 and availed the facilities offered by Book Bank. 150 books including text books and reference books were gifted to the students.

National Girl Child Day (24 January, 2022)

“National Girl Child Day” was observed in the college on January 24, 2022. The NSS Unit organized a Virtual Poetry recitation Contest where in six student’s viz. Gurpinder Kaur B.Com Sem-V, Bhavika B.Com Sem-I, Kanchan Sharma B.Com Sem-V, Sakshi B.Com Sem-III and Taranpreet Kaur B.Com Sem-I, Prerna Sharma B.Com (FS) Sem-III presented their self-composed poems highlighting the importance of creating a right mindset for nurturing and supporting the female section in society. Mrs. Dilpreet Kaur, the NSS co-ordinator and Ms. Mamta Arora Dy. co-ordinator also spoke in verse glorifying the girl child. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal inspired the students to ignite their inner power and build capabilities to emerge as strong individuals.

Two Day Online FDP on ‘Inspired to be an Inspiration’ (24 and 25 January, 2022)

A two day workshop was held as part of the Faculty Development Programme on January 24 and January 25, 2022. The workshop title ‘Inspired to be an Inspiration’ was conducted in virtual mode and Ms. Ashima Batra, a life coach, counsellor and expert in mass media communication was the resource person. She spoke about the role of positive attitude in developing oneself as a passionate and effortless teacher. The importance of effective listening and rigour in communication was explained for better understanding in inter personal relations. Dr. Navdeep Kaur expressed gratitude to Ms. Ashima Batra for the inspirational deliberations and extented an invitation for an in-person session in the ensuing months. Dr. Samriti Kapoor coordinated the programme and Dr. Payal and Mrs. Savita Khanna presented Vote of Thanks on January 24 and January 25, 2022 respectively. 40 members of the faculty attended the workshop.

National Voter day (25 January, 2022)

National Voter Day was observed in virtual mode on January 25, 2022 and students took pledge to cast their votes in an ethical manner.

Premiere Show of Parda Girta Hai- The Curtain Falls (27 January, 2022)

The Premiere show of the debut film produced by SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar was held on January 27, 2022 at the Rose Villa Hall in the presence of Principals and staff from all units of SSSS group of Schools and Colleges. The film written and directed by Ms. Kiran Bala, Asst. Prof. in Punjabi depicted the realities of theatre, artist and life. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal informed that this film has been officially selected in the 10th Mumbai Short International Film Festival-21. S. Jagdish Singh Honorary Secretary highly applauded the creative team led by Ms. Kiran Bala and thanked almighty for bestowing this honor to the college. The trophy and the certificate of Excellence issued by Film Festival authorities were presented to the Team and also they were individually honored for their contribution in this project. The audience were all praise for the quality of work produced by Team SSSS.

Seminar on ‘Save Soil Movement’ (03 February, 2022)

A talk on ‘Save Soil ‘ was conducted  on Thursday, February 03, 2022 at College Seminar Hall, Lafani for the faculty members. Ms. Harleen Kaur, Asst. Prof. in Commerce was the resource person. She talked about the extinction of soil, the massive problem that may lead to a food crisis in the future, because of conversion of soil into sand. A video highlighting the global movement on “Save Soil” was also shown the resource person encouraged everyone to share, inspire and join the Save Soil Movement for managing soil through a conscious approach for a conscious planet. The session was thought provoking and impactful.

International Mother Language Day (22 February, 2022)

An oath was administered to the entire faculty and office staff to reiterate their commitment towards maintaining the glory and due respect to our beloved mother tongue through constant endeavors and active involvement.

Bhog of Sehaj Path (01 March, 2022)

Bhog of Sehaj Path was performed on March 1, 2022, in the newly built Yoga Hall in Bibi Gujri Block of the College. This Block has been dedicated to Bibi Gujri w/o S.Sukha Singh son of S. Sant Singh and Bibi Raj Devi, the founder of SSSS Group of Schools and Colleges. Soulful Hymns from Gurbani were recited and Ardas was intoned by students and the teachers. S. Jagdish Singhji, Hony. Secy., thanked almighty for his blessings and congratulated all on the accomplishment of Yoga Hall. He conveyed the message of ‘Keep Moving Forward’. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, the Principal, congratulated all on Ardas Divas and on the occasion of Mahashivratri. In her message she highlighted “stability and then growth” as the need of the hour in COVID affected scenario.Students and the faculty members who performed Gurmat Seva regularly during the session were honoured. The students who secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in the   Quiz Competition conducted on the celebration of the 400th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji were also honoured by presenting them certificates and cash money. Principals of sister institutions were also present during the occasion.

International Women’s Day (08 March, 2022)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar in collaboration with Fortis Escort Hospital, Amritsar organized a talk on Women’s Health on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 08, 2022. The session commenced with the case study of Mrs. Sudha Murthy, CEO of Infosys Foundation, and poetry recitation by the students of the college. Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur congratulated the audience and encouraged the faculty members to share their views on ‘The three things they cherish being a Woman’. Followed by the floral welcome, the resource person, Dr. Ruchika (a Gynecologist and Consultant Obstetrics and Gynecology, Fortis Escorts Hospital, Amritsar) shed light on ‘Time to Catch Up (preventive strategies for above 18)’. Dr. Ruchika shared valuable information on awareness, prevention and the early detection of Cervical and Breast Cancer. The session ended with a question and answer round. The audience found the lecture highly useful and educative.

Sessions on Save Soil Conscious Planet Movement (07 March, 2022)

Special Sessions on Save Soil were organized at SSSS College of Commerce for Women by the Rotaract Club of the college on March 03, March 04 and March 07,2022, to spread awareness about “Conscious Planet Movement : A global movement” planned to bring massive union to ask for policy changes in 192. Democratic Nations to revitalize soil that nurture human life. Students were made aware about the scientific researches which are pointing to the fact of humanity moving towards the extinction of Soil. 833 students were covered over 8 interactive sessions. All the students were sensitized to the cause and many of them joined the movement on the spot.

Campus Placement Drive in collaboration with HDFC Life Insurance Company (09 March, 2022)

Placement Cell of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar in collaboration with HDFC Life Insurance Company conducted Campus Placement Drive on March 9, 2022.  37 students of sessions 2019-2020, 2020-2021 and final year graduate and post-graduate students of session 2021-2022 participated in the campus interview drive. Results were declared after the interview was completed. 13 students were shortlisted by the Company and letters were issued to the shortlisted students.  Students were glad and excited on this opportunity to face the interview panel and gaining an entry to their career path.

Overall experience and feedback of the HDFC team comprising Mr. Vinod Kumar Bindra, Area Head, Ms. Mandeep Kaur, Sr. Area Business Manager and Ms. Priyanka, Associate Business Manager was very positive as the need of their organization to search for the right talent to drive its business objectives was fulfilled by our students.  Panel members were very keen in conducting Campus recruitment drives next year also.  Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur congratulated students, faculty members and the HDFC Team for the successful conduction of this campus drive and quoted the relevance of such programmes for boosting the confidence of students and preparing the students for professional life.

Career Counselling Session (March 10, 2022)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized a Career Counselling session for the students of class 11th and 12th of SSSS Khalsa Sr. Sec. School, Amritsar on March 10, 2022 in Rose Villa.  108 students from the streams of Commerce and Humanities attended the session. A team of experts comprising Mrs. Pooja Moonga, Head Department of Computer Science, Dr. Samriti Kapoor, Assistant Professor in Commerce, Mrs. Ashmeet Kaur, and Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Mrs. Ravneet Kaur Assistant Professor in Economics conducted the session. The experts emphasized students the need of analysing their strengths in terms of interest and aptitude for the right selection of the career. The experts also quoted the need to chalk out the career planning, about the changing scenario, increasing competition, new sectors coming up and different career options. A question-answer session was also conducted for resolving the dilemma of the students.  Principal, Dr, Navdeep Kaur asked the students to introspect themselves regarding the priorities they have set for their future profession and take the decisions accordingly. Mrs. Kuldeep Kaur, Lecturer in Punjabi thanked the experts for sharing their expertise and enabling them for well informed decision regarding their careers.   

Online Interactive Session on “Emotional Intelligence” (March 11, 2022)

A webinar on ‘Emotional Intelligence’ was organized by the Rotaract Club of the college via Google Meet on March 11, 2022. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal outlined the relevance of emotional intelligence in the personal and professional life. Ms. Khushbu Kumari, a certified corporate trainer was the resource person. She emphasized on the importance of being emotionally intelligent so as to lead a stressfree and healthy life. The session was coordinated by Dr. Tina Vohra, Asst. Prof. in Commerce and Ms. Sukhpinder Kaur, President, Rotaract Club were the coordinators. Mrs Isha Arora, Asst. Prof. presented the vote of thanks.

Trip to Wonderland (March 12 and 14, 2022)       

A one day recreational trip to wonderland was organized by the college on March 12 and 14, 2022 to rejuvenate the enthusiasm and spirits of the students after a long spell of COVID impacted the academic year. 268 students from all departments visited the amusement park. The students enjoyed the fun rides and merry making in the company of friends. Eight members of the faculty accompanied the group along with the security officer of the College. The students had fun at the dance floor and relished the sumptuous fare during the lunch hour. All in all it was an enjoyable day for everyone.

Business Accounting Talent Search Examination, (March 14, 2022)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women jointly with SSSS College of allied Studies organized Business & Accounting Talent Search Examination, (BATSE) 2022 for the first time through online mode on March 14, 2022.This contest was designed to assess the aptitude for commerce and management in the students so as to encourage the aspirants for suitable courses in these disciplines. 300 students from various reputed senior secondary schools affiliated with Central and State educational boards appeared in the examination. Certificates of participation will be awarded to all successful candidates and the students securing more than 80 per cent marks are going to be honoured at the Prize distribution function.

Tech Fest-Innovations in Action 2022 Competition (March 15, 2022)

Computer Science Department of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar Punjab organized Tech Fest-Innovations in Action 2022 Competition on March 15, 2022 in the College Hall, Rose Villa.

Ninety-one students participated enthusiastically in different events like IT based poster-making, model-making, collage making, logic-whirlpool, bug-hunting, paper-presentation, and assembling the computer system.  Mrs. Priyanka Sharma (Assistant Professor in Commerce), Ms. Kawaljit Kaur(Assistant Professor in Computer), and Mrs. Vijay Laxmi (Assistant Professor Mathematics) assessed students’ performance keeping in consideration criteria like content, designing of PPTs, communication skills, presentation, time-taken  Students while talking about the innovative actions in computer like 5G, web 3.0,AI, Bio-metric technology, Metaverse that take less processing time cautioned the audience about the digital crime, digital drugs, change in behaviour of the users and technical complexity involved in the effective usage. The event was conducted by students Ms. Riya Verma and Ms. Gurleen Kaur under the supervision of the coordinators Mrs Pooja Monga and Mrs Isha Arora successfully. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur congratulated the students and encouraged students to be good listeners and raise questions for effective learning. Further in her message, she focused that for growing intellectually, individually and socially one has to involve the self and make judicious efforts for accomplishment of the task.  The students were excited and truly enjoyed this learning experience. 

National Mathematics Day (March 22, 2022)

Department of Mathematics of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized Mathematics Day on March 22, 2022. Infact National Mathematics Day is celebrated every year on 22 December to commemorate the birth anniversary of great Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan for his substantial contribution to the world of Mathematics. But this year due to covid restrictions, classes were held online and thenceforth, it has been celebrated on March 22, 2022. About 136 students attended the event. Eleven students presented their presentation on topics including symmetry, dimensions, mathematics and religion, mathematics and photography, discovery of zero and biography of different mathematicians. Students appraised the audience with the importance of mathematics in different disciplines of life. Mrs. Jaskiranjit Kaur, Head Department of Commerce, Ms. Harpreet Kaur Uppal, Head Department of Economics and Mrs. Isha Arora, Assistant Professor in Computers acted as the judges to assess students’ performance during the event. Ms. Harpreet Kaur of B.Sc. Sem-II and Ishita Sharma of B.Com Sem-VI conducted the event under the guidance of Mrs. Vijay Laxmi and Mrs. Neetu Vinod. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur applauded the creativity of the students. She congratulated all the students and apprised them about the significance of mathematics in life apart from academics.

REPORT-A-THON (WORLD WATER DAY) (March 25, 2022)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women , Amritsar hosted an event Report-A-Thon on March 25, 2022 on the occasion of the world water day. The event was an initiative undertaken by Reap Benefit, an NGO based in Bengaluru, Karnataka with the aim to tackle and solve the local environmental and civic problems using various technologies like Ninja, Whatsapp Chatbot etc.190 student members of the student council of the college attended the session. The session was coordinated by Mrs. Ravneet Arora, Assistant Professor in Economics and Ms. Kiran Bala, Assistant Professor in Punjabi. The resource person, Mr. Bharat Bansal from Reap Benefit apprised the students about the need and importance of water conservation and also made them aware about the Punjab Public Grievance Redressal Service Portal (PGR) and how it can be used for reporting various issues relating to civic amenities. The resource person also interacted with the students in order to gather their feedback as well as their suggestions. Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur, thanked the resource person and appreciated them for the wonderful initiative being undertaken by them.

Blood Donation Camp (March 29, 2022)

The Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized Blood donation camp on March 29, 2022 in the College campus under the patronage of Rotary Club Central.

Students of College, members of the staff and a few members from community were amongst the donors.In all 21 units of blood were donated.Dr Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, MLA inaugurated the camp and encouraged the students to contribute towards this noble cause.He expressed his gratitude towards the public of his constituency for expressing their confidence in him and reiterated his goal of Happy and prosperous Punjab.S Jagdish Singh, Director SSSS congratulated him on winning and highly appreciated the efforts of College faculty and Principal for overall development of College.Honorable Guest Sh JP Shoor, DGN Rotarian Adv. Vipin Bhasin spoke about the significance of blood donation .Dr Navdeep Kaur, Principal while presenting vote of thanks paid tribute to the founder, S. Sant Singh who gave away his entire property to start the institution.  

Celebration of Martyrdom day S. Bhagat Singh Ji

The NSS unit of the college organized a program to tribute the National Heroes S. Bhagat Singh ji, Rajguru and Sukhdev on March 31, 2022 on Wednesday. The program started with the inspirational song ‘Rang de Basanti Chola’ by Mansi B.Com Sem-VI. Three students of B.Com Sem VI Megha, Tejinder Kaur and Gurpinder Kaur related stories from his childhood and how these shaped his outlook for his journey as a revolutionary freedom fighter. Ms. Harleen Kaur (B.Com (FS) Sem-IV and Ms. Mansi (B.Com Sem-VI) enlightened the students about the life history of Rajguru and Sukhdev. Mrs. Harpreet Kaur (Asst. prof in commerce) shared a true spirit behind the noble cause taken up these iconic heroes.Tarunpreet Kaur (B.Com Sem-II) recited a self-composed poem on S. Bhagat Singh.Ms. Muskan Mahajan (M.Com Student) presented the vote of thanks.

Workshop on “Resume Writing” (April 04, 2022)

Placement cell of the college organized a workshop on ‘Resume Writing’ on April 04, 2022. Mr. Nitin Aggarwal from Career Launcher, Amritsar was the resource person. He gave wonderful tips to the students for better resume writing which will help them to stand out and land an interview. He gave on the spot exercise to the participants for drafting the resume for themselves and provided hands-on experience in a very effective manner. Around 151 students of M.Com Sem-IV, B.Com (FS) Sem-VI, B.Com Sem-VI and BBA Sem-VI attended the session and found it very useful and interactive.

Award ceremony of Business and Accounting Talent Search Examination (BATSE) (April 6, 2022)

College organised Award ceremony in collaboration with SSSS College of Commerce and Allied Studies on April 6, 2022 to felicitate the students who scored top positions in Business and Accounting Talent Search Examination (BATSE) 2022.Examination was conducted for the first time through online mode on March 14, 2022 and more than 300 students from various reputed senior secondary schools and public schools of Amritsar appeared in the examination.

S.Jagdish Singh, Director, Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal and Ms. Savita Khanna, principal gave away prizes and certificates to the students who scored more than 90 percent Marks in the examination and certificates were given to students who scored more than 80 marks.

While addressing the audience S. Jagdish Singh Director SSSS INstitution threw the light on history, philosophy and activities of the institution.

Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal applauded the efforts of all the winners and acquainted the students about the various career options available to them after plus two. She also spoke about the future job prospects and informed the students regarding various facilities available for the students in the College.

Around 36 Students from Spring Dale School, Ashoka Senior Secondry School, Khalsa College International Public School, Lawrence High School and Government Senior Secondry School Shivala Road were present.

Mrs Gurinder Kaur from Spring Dale Public School and Mrs Disha Mohan from Government Senior Secondry School Shivala road had also graced the occasion with their presence.

Mrs Savita Khanna Principal presented vote of thanks to one and all for their presence and respective contribution for the successful conduct of the event.

Ms Kiran Bala and the assisting team members of the debut short film produced by the college were also felicitated for winning twice in a row three special prizes in the category of the best direction and the finest screen play in the sixth Indian World Festival, 2022. Award ceremony was followed by various exhilarating cultural program directed by Ms Kiran.

Seminar on ‘Entrepreneurship: Roadmap to Success’ (April 13, 2022)

Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) of the college organized a seminar on “Entrepreneurship: Roadmap to Success” on April 13, 2022 with the purpose to encourage the young generation for entrepreneurial ventures. Mr. Khushpal Rai, Director Rural Self Employment training Institute, Senior Manager (Retd) PNB was the resource person. He discussed the relevance of focus,self-discipline and determination for a stress-free and successful life. He also shared inspirational life-stories of famous personalities like Jessica Cox and Nick Vujicic. In addition to this students were also apprised about the government schemes such as Atma Nirbhar Bharat and Prime Minister Employment Generation Program. Students were also made aware of the bank lending process for entrepreneurial ventures. A team of 4 teachers and 180 students of final year classes attended the session and gained a fresh perspective to chalk.

12th Convocation Ceremony (April 17, 2022)

The twelfth convocation ceremony of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar was held on Sunday, April 17, 2022 to confer the degrees to the students for the batches of 2019-2020 and 2020-2021.A total of 500 graduate and post graduate students were awarded their degrees at the convocation. Justice R.S Randhawa (Retd.) Chairman, Sant Singh Sukha Singh Khalsa Educational Institutions was the chief guest. Dr. Jivanjot Kaur (MLA) and Dr. Hardeep Singh (OSD to Vice Chancellor ,GNDU, Amritsar) were the guests of honour.The event commenced with the welcome address by S.Jagdish Singh (Hony.Secy.) followed by the presentation of the college report by Principal Dr.Navdeep Kaur. The chief guest, Justice R.S Randahawa delivered the convocation address. He expressed his gratitude to S.Jagdish Singh Ji, Director and saluted his devotion towards nurturing the institution without making it a commercial hub. Urging upon the optimum utilization of time, he exhorted the students to do their best and imbibe in them the sense of service for a peaceful and orderly society. He conveyed his blessings to the graduates wishing for their bright and rewarding future. Dr. Hardeep Singh also addressed the gathering and motivated the students to dream, evolve, and upgrade themselves and to be grounded. The dignitaries were presented with momentos and floral bouquets. The Ist (first) edition of “Khoj Sanvaad”, a collection of research articles was launched by the Chief Guest. A show of the debut film “Parda Girta Hai”(The Curtain falls) produced by the college was also held which was followed by a scintillating cultural program. The event ended with a vote of thanks followed by the national anthem.

Workshop on “Digital Marketing Tools” (April 18, 2022)

The Computer Science department of SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized a One day Workshop on Digital marketing tools in collaboration with Ample Digital Marketing Company (AICTE approved) on April 18, 2022. The experts imparted hands-on training on website development software and e-marketing tools to the final year students of BCA and B.Sc (Eco). Towards the end, the 10 best participants were awarded certificates by the resource persons. The interactive session, coordinated by Mrs. Pooja Monga and Mrs. Monika Shahi, was found highly beneficial by the students.

Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal informed that organizing such skill based programs is a special feature of their academic calendar.

World Book Day (April 23, 2022)

World Book and Copy Right Day was observed at SSSS College of Commerce, Amritsar on Saturday, April 23, 2022. To celebrate the day Book fair was organized during which students were given the opportunity to select the books of their choice at free of cost from the College Book Bank. Students of different streams selected 310 Books. Faculty member presented book review on the book ‘ The Rule of Five’ by Paul Dupuis.

Money Matters- Economic Quiz (April 26, 2022)

The Department of Economics of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized an Economics Quiz on ‘Money Matters’ held on 26th April, 2022 in the college Hall, RoseVilla. Students from various courses namely B.Sc. (Eco), BBA, B.Com and B.Com (FS) attended the event.The contest comprised five rounds from areas covering Economics, Quantitative Aptitude, Current Affairs, and Infotainment. Three teams, each consisting three contestants participated in the competition.

Interactive Session on Career Options after Graduation (May 03, 2022)

Department of Commerce and Business Administration organised an interactive session on various career option after graduation on May 3, 2022 at Rose Villa for final year classes of BCom, BBA and BCom FS. Ms Twinkle Mahajan, Ms Ramya Obroi and Ms Karanpreet Kaur, Assistant Professors in Commerce and Alumni of the college conducted the session. Old students from PG Certificate Course in GST acted as resource persons and briefed the students about the courses available after graduation to help them make well informed choices for chalking out their career path and also shared their own experiences.

Queries of the students were resolved at the end of the session. The students found the session highly useful and informative.

Three Days Advanced Workshop on Data Analytics (May 05, 2022 to May 07, 2022)

Internal Quality Insurance Cell (IQAC) of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized Three Days ‘Advanced Workshop on Data Analytics ‘ in collaboration with Business Research Plasma from May 5, 2022 to May 7, 2022. During the inaugural session Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur threw light on relevance of such workshops for advancement of the knowledge and development. The Resource Persons Dr. Rishi Raj Sharma, Professor, Department of Business Management, Associate Dean, Guru Nanak Dev University, Regional Center, Gurdaspur, Dr. A.S. Syan, Assistant Professor, Mittal School of Business, Lovely Professional University, Punjab and Dr. Jivan Jyoti Gupta, Associate Professor, Department of Management, Jammu University, Jammu, during their respective technical and hand-on sessions discussed Statistical techniques viz. Discriminant Analysis, Cluster Analysis and Exploratory Factor Analysis,  using examples and SPSS software.  More than 45 participants from the different colleges attended the workshop and found it very effective as it would enable them to use the techniques while analyzing the quantitative data. During the valedictory session Hony. Secy. S.Jagdish Singh ji blessed the participants and talked about the usefulness of these workshops. In the end the certificates were distributed. Dr Samriti Kapoor Mrs. Ravneet Kaur and Mrs. Pooja Monga conducted the programme successfully.

130th Foundation day (May 13, 2022)

Sant Singh Sukha Singh Group of Schools and Colleges celebrated its 130th Foundation day on May 13th, 2022. Led by the Director, S.Jagdish Singh Ji, a group of about 150 members of the SSSS family comprising the principals, teachers and students paid obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib and recited Ardas to express their gratitude to The Almighty for His benedictions.

A function was held at Mata Kaulan Marg Campus wherein Bhai Jarnail Singh, Hazoori Ragi, Sri Harimandar Sahib and the students of SSSS schools and colleges performed Shabad Kirtan. Director, S. Jagdish Singh Ji shed light on the history of 129 years of the institution and encouraged the young generation to work hard. A special programme coordinated by Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur and her team was held in the Vidyak Bhawan where S.Kultar Singh Sandhwan (Speaker Punjab Legislative Assembly, Chandigarh) was the chief guest and Dr.Inderbir Singh Nijjar (MLA) and Sh.Ajay Gupta (MLA) were the Guests of Honour. Principal,Dr. Navdeep kaur presented the dignified journey and history  of Sant Singh Sukha Singh Institutions through a multimedia presentation which was followed by a Sufi Kalaam presented by the college students . A play titled ‘Sant’ directed by Ms.Kiran Bala(Assistant Prof.in Punjabi) showcasing the selfless endeavours of the Founder and Philanthropist S.Sant Singh Ji was enacted by the college theatre group ‘Niralam’.

 On this occasion, S. Jagjit Singh Uppal,Advocate, S.Kultar Singh, Prof.Dr. Harkant Singh, S.Gurpreet Singh (Principal),Dr. Ajay Gupta (MLA),Deputy Advocate Gen.,S.Joginder Pal and S.Kultar Singh (Speaker Legislative assembly  Punjab)were honoured with SSSS award by the managing committee. Giani Kewal Singh( Former Jathedar Shri Damdama Sahib),Giani Jagtar Singh Ji, Deputy Chief Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib, Justice R S Randhawa (Retd.), Chairman SSSS Khalsa Educational Institutions, S.Brahmjit Singh Ji,  Dr.Manmohan Singh Ji, S.Dalbir Singh (MLA), Mr.Vishal ji on behalf of Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, S.Mukhtar Singh(Town Planner),Dr.Narinder Singh, S.Jaswinder Singh(Advocate), S.Charanjit Singh Batra (President), S.Jasbir Singh Patti ,S.Himmat Singh Shergill ,Sdn.Swaran Kaur, Dr.  Manpreet Kaur, Dr.  Harpreet Kaur, S.  Satinder Singh, Mr.Gurpreet Singh, Mrs. Arvinder Kaur, Mrs. Jaswinder Kaur, Mrs. Savita Khanna, Mrs. Anu Khanna, Mrs. Manjit Kaur, S.  Satpal Singh and Mrs. Varinder Kaur Kalsi were also present on the occasion. Chief Guest, S.Kultar Singh Sandhwan in his address encouraged the students to aim for big. The event ended with the presentation of the vote of thanks by Justice R S Randhawa and the recitation of the National Anthem.

Kitchen Therapy and Water Therapy Awareness Program (May 16, 2022)

The College organized a seminar on “Kitchen Therapy and Water Therapy Awareness Program” in Rose Villa Hall of college on May 16, 2022. The expert Mr. Sanjeev Mehra focused on generic health issues such as acidity, high blood pressure, etc. which are caused by the water containing high levels of TDS and wrong ingredients being used in the kitchen such as white salt, aluminum utensils. Performing an experiment, the resource person warned that taking acidic water like cold drink is harmful for health. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Ravneet Kaur and Mrs. Harbir Kaur. The session was found informative and useful by the staff and students alike.

Choose to refuse single use plastic (May 16, 2022)

On May 16, 2022, SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized an interactive session on ‘Choose to Refuse Single use Plastic”. In these documentaries on Plastic Pollution and replacement of plastic were shown to make the students aware about ill-effects of single use plastic. They were told about the bio green bags and disposable plates made from vegetables and sugarcane residues. They were asked to switch from a single use plastic to a better alternative. Students were also made aware about the plastic free full challenge super headed by Rebecca Prince- Ruiz around fifty five students attended the session. 

Choosing Social Entrepreneurship over Entrepreneurship (May 18, 2022)

Entrepreneurship Cell of SSSS College of Commerce Amritsar organized Expert Talk on ‘ Choosing Social Entrepreneurship over Entrepreneurship’ on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Vidyak Bhavan. Head Girl of the students’ council accorded floral welcome to the Resource Person. S.Jagdish Singh Ji, Hony. Secy. while welcoming the Resource Person addressed the audience. He talked about the brain drain, profession, persons and product. S. Jagdish Singh ji also talked about the rich culture and heritage of the State of Punjab.

The TEDx speaker Ms. Mandeep Kaur Tangra during her opening remark told to respect the soul -the best gift from Almighty and respect the belief of ‘Kirat- the action’. The resource person Ms. Mandeep Kaur Tangra, founder and CEO of Simba Quartz, Tangra during her talk   emphasized that Consistency, Discipline, Self and Social Awareness, Hard work, Positive thinking,  Sacrifice, Reflecting on what and how to do,  and Matching Profession with Passion are the key factors to success. As per her Entrepreneurship involves vision, opportunities, challenges, and risk-taking capabilities, emotional and spiritually intelligent decisions. Talking about the mission ‘Reverse Migration’ of the company she emphasised about taking the initiatives that can involve more young youths and promoting the concept of creating job opportunities.

Ms. Ramya and Ms. Harpreet Kaur presented their views on ‘raise the self’. The students of College theatrical group ’Niralam’ presented dance performance.45 Students with outstanding performance in their semester examinations were felicitated and  honoured with the medals, trophies and certificates. A token of gratitude was presented to Ms. Mandeep Kaur Tangra.

The Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur while presenting the vote of thanks talked about the four dimensions of life- survival, pleasures, passion and purpose, which need to be aligned to have a peaceful life.

Principals of sister institutions graced the occasion. Mrs. Jaskiranjit Kaur and Dr. Payal conducted the programme successfully.

Mock Viva Voce (May 19, 2022)

Mock Viva-Voce of ‘Software Module’ subject of BCA final year was conducted on May 19, 2022. Mr. Sandeep Sood, Senior Programmer, Computer Centre, GNDU viewed the working of websites/softwares developed by the students in various platforms. He guided them regarding the shortcomings in the software and how they can improve it by adding more features. He further enlightened the students about the essential features that should be incorporated in a good website. In all, the session was a great learning experience for the students. 

Visit to ‘District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises’ Amritsar (May 20, 2022)

The Placement Cell of the College organized a visit to the office of District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises, Amritsar on May 20, 2022. The entire team of the bureau comprising Mr. Vikramjeet (EGSDTO), Mr. Naresh Kumar (EGSDTO), Mr. Satinder Singh (DCEO), Mr. Gaurav Kumar (CC) and Mr. Jasvir Singh (DGC) interacted with the students and apprised them about the working of the bureau, self-employment schemes, free online coaching classes for the preparation of government exams, foreign education, weekly placement drives etc. Mr. Vikramjeet explained the relevance of goal-setting, focus and determination in life and motivated the students by sharing real-life success stories. Students were also made aware of the latest developments in the recruitment process for the government jobs. Three faculty members Dr. Payal, Mrs. Ravneet Arora and Ms. Kawaljit Kaur accompanied a group of 27 students from the final semester of B.Com and BCA and they all appreciated the initiatives of the bureau for guiding the young generation in their career planning. It was indeed an enriching experience for the students. 

World Environment Day (June 04, 2022)

The college organized ‘World Environment Day’ on June 04, 2022 to create awareness about the need to protect the environment and the ways to do it. Nodal officer, Mr. Raj Kumar spoke on the ways to protect the environment. Declamation contest was also conducted where in Srishti (10+2, commerce), Aditi (10+2, Commerce), Priyanka (10+2, Commerce), Prishita (BBA Sem IV) and Sneha (B.Com (FS) Sem-II) shared their views on various topics related to environmental issues. A total of 60 students of the college attended the event.
