Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women Felicitation (July 02, 2023)

The Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women,Amritsar was felicitated by the Rotaract District 3070 during the thanksgiving and award ceremony, “Anjasha” organized on July 2, 2023 at Hotel Regenta Central Klassik, Ludhiana. To felicitate and acknowledge the overall performance of the unit, special honour was bestowed. In all, seven awards were announced:

  • Outstanding Charter Club of the year (Gold) (Institution Based).
  • Club with Maximum members (Membership Growth).
  • First Club to pay District Dues.
  • Supporting Principal Award.

Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar was awarded and presented with a token of gratitude for being the “Supporting Principal” and Dr. Tina Vohra, Assistant Professor in Commerce was presented with “Supportive Faculty Incharge” for the club. Rtr. Sukhpinder Kaur was presented with the “Best Club Advisor” award during the event.

Personal Contact Programme (July 27- July 29, 2023)   

Personal Contact Programme (PCP) was conducted from July 27 to July 29, 2023 for the first year students of all the courses. A panel of experts comprising two members met each student individually and information of each student pertaining to her educational and family background as well as her interest and aptitude, career aspirations, challenges in pursuing the studies etc. was noted. This programme (PCP) aimed to establish a personalized connection between the faculty and first year students, fostering a supportive environment. This initiative not only provided valuable insights into individual student profiles but also laid the foundation for tailored academic support and mentorship throughout the academic year. The comprehensive understanding gained during the PCP will undoubtedly contribute to the student’s holistic development.

Morning Assembly (July 31, 2023)

The first morning assembly was held on July 31, 2023 for the session 2023-24 in the Rose Villa Hall. The assembly began with the recitation of Mool Mantra and College Anthem. The Ardass was invoked to seek the blessings and guidance of The Almighty. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal welcomed the students to the new session and apprised them about the various programs, activities and achievements of the college. The principal also urged the students to keep themselves attuned for the upcoming events, including guest lectures, workshops and competitions through college website and following its social media handles on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube. S. Jagdish Singh, Honorary Secretary while blessing the students, encouraged and motivated them to work hard and respect the culture of the institution in order to achieve high ranks in academics

 The assembly concluded with a reminder to practice unity, responsibility, and dedication towards personal growth and contributing effectively to the college community and society at large.

Birth Anniversary celebrations of BhagatPuran Singh Ji (August 02, 2023)

Students from B.Sc. (Eco) Sem-I and III of SSSS College of Commerce attended 118th birth anniversary celebration of BhagatPuran Singh, founder of Pingalwara. A program, organized by Pingalwara organization on August 02, 2023, at VidyakBhawan of SSSS Modern High School was dedicated to World Environment Day. During the event, students visited various stalls that displayed efficient usage of waste materials, organic farming, samples of handicrafts etc. The major attraction of the event had been the cultural program presented by the differently abled children. The students of our college were highly impressed by their brilliant performances and were all praise for their mentors for guiding the children for the same. It was indeed an inspiring experience for all.

Skill Development Week under which ‘The Expressionist-Level-I and Level-II program’ and ‘Employability Skills Program by Mahindra Pride Classroom’

Skill development has always been a prority in our academic program.We intend to make our students employment ready once they complete their degree programs.Various skill based courses and workshops are conducted throughout the year to achieve this goal.In this context ‘Skill Development Week’was observed from 7- 12 August, 2023, under which ‘The Expressionist-Level-I and Level-II program’ and ‘Employability Skills Program by Mahindra Pride Classroom’ were run simultaneously for degree students.

89 students from undergraduate and post graduate courses enrolled themselves for Level I and Level of Expressionist Program. Dr. Anupam Bhanot and Dr. Gourav Deora were the Resource persons who imparted training in analytical & creative thinking skills based on real life stories, case studies, activities and practical drills.

In the Employability Skills Program Ms. Bharti was the resource person. 64 students from the final year of B.Com (FS) and BBA attended the program comprising interactive sessions on Time and money management, professional grooming and work ethics necessary for the corporate environment. 

Students found these programs highly engaging and useful for their personal development.  Both the programs were jointly coordinated by Dr Samriti Kapoor, Mrs Monica Shahi and Mrs Ravneet Arora from the Departments of Commerce, Computer science and Economics respectively. 

First Assembly (August 13, 2023)

First Assembly for the students of BCA, B.Sc. (Eco) and BBA (Session 2023-24) was held on August 13, 2023, in the Rose Villa Hall. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal welcomed the new entrants to their new phase of academic life. She highlighted the history, growth and regular programs of the college through a powerpoint presentation in order to familiarise the freshers with the academic environment.   Then assembly was coordinated by Mrs. PoojaMonga and MsHarpreet KaurUppal event was conducted by Mrs. Samridhi Sharma of BCA Sem V.

A series of events were held to mark the 76th Independence Day of the nation on August 14, 2023 (Orientation session by An NGO (August 14, 2023))

The day started with a session by Reap Benefit’ an NGO based in Bangaluru committed towards improving cleanliness and sanitation facilities in the major cities of India.  The orientation session was intended to celebrate the spirit of togetherness and explore forming a community for positive change. The session was full of fun activities, problem solving games etc. to instil the spirit of teamwork, cooperation and coordination amongst the students. The resource person Mr. Navneet Kaur explained the working of the NGO and Jotsimran Kaur, a student of B.Com Sem V shared her journey bneing a president of SSSS Solve Ninja Yuva Cabinet of Reap Benefit. The participants were mainly from B.Com (FS) Sefound and they found the session highly informative and engaging. Mrs Ravneet Kaur and Mrs Gagandeep Kaur from Department of Economics co-ordinated the event successfully. 

Blood Donation Camp (August 14, 2023)

The Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar in collaboration with the NSS unit organized a Blood donation camp on the eve of Independence Day August 14, 2023 in the College campus under the patronage of Rotary Club Central.

DG Adv. RTN Vipan Bhasin, Distt. Governor, along with S. Jagdish Singhji, Hony. Secy. SSSS inaugurated the camp. The guest of the day spoke about the significance of blood donation.  S Jagdish Singhji appreciated students and volunteers for their contribution for the noble cause.  Mrs Rupali Dhingra from Humanity Blood center, Rtn Parveen Mehra, Rtn Ravi Kumar Handa, Rtn Rakesh Kapoor were also present during the occasion. 

Dr Navdeep Kaur, Principal expressed her gratitude to the Rotaract club and the NSS unit of the college for their continuous endeavors  in community service. She commended the young volunteers for their determination and commitment for the goals of Rotaract Club movement. 

34 volunteers came forward to donate blood during the camp which included volunteers from teaching & non-teaching staff, students and their families as well. . The blood donors were served fruits , sandwiches and fruit based drinks to replenish their energy.They also received certificates for their valuable contribution towards this great humanitarian cause. 

In order to encourage initiative and creativity amongst the students a call was given to them to decorate their class rooms and also to prepare food items on the theme of Independence Day. The response of the students in this regard had been overwhelming. Not only the class room’s rather entire campus wore a festive look with students wearing tri colour dresses and their artistic contributions in the form of decorative items and posters depicting the great heroes who sacrificed their lives during the movement of Independence. On the whole the colourful environment and the spirit of the students volunteering for blood donation, cleanliness and extending helping hand in all arrangements throughout day added to the feeling of patriotism and celebrations. 

Orientation Session by an NGO ‘Reap Benefit’ (August 18, 2023)

College in collaboration with the Bengluru Based NGO ‘Reap Benefit’ organized an orientation session for the students of Rotaract Club and NSS Unit on August 18, 2023. The main objective of the seminar was to make students aware about the Swachhata Sanjh initiative and how they can contribute to it by becoming a Swachhata Saathi. Mr. Bhart the resource person, along with his associates Mr. Sudhir and Ms. Manpreet inspired the young students to begin their journey as the change makers .He demonstrated the functioning of the organisation through a presentation and elaborated how their involvement in such projects can help their growth personally and on community level too.  95 students attended the session and found it highly engaging and fruitful. 

Environment and its Conservation with Collaboration of NGO REAP Benefits (August 25, 2023)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women Collaborates with Bangluru based NGO ‘Reap Benefit’ with the aim to make a collective impact on the environment through recycling and reducing energy consumption and water conservation. The NSS Unit of SSSS College of Commerce for Women has taken this opportunity and initiated cleanliness drive in the area of Sundar Nagar outside the Primary Government School. During this activity volunteers have cleaned the area outside the school. Apart from this the volunteers through an interactive session made the students of Class V of that school aware about the “Environment and its Conservation”. The students were highly involved through playful talks.

Sessions on Preventing Cervical Cancer on August 28, 2023

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized sessions on Preventing Cervical Cancer on August 28, 2023 in Lafani, College Hall. A team of eight members from NGO Phulkari, Caped Partners conducted two sessions (1st session from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon and 12:15 pm to 1:45 pm).  Hony. Secy. S. Jagdish Siggh ji and Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur in their address to students asked to act as warriors and share the preventive measures with family members for eradicating Cervical Cancer. The resource persons during their interactive session asked the audience that cancer is abnormal growth and multiplication of cells. As per the reports, every 8 minute one Indian woman is losing life due to cervical cancer.This cancer can be identified by noting the seven warning signs of cancer that last for a longer period of time and bring changes in pattern.   As per the resource persons, awareness, good diet, regular exercise and vaccination can prevent cervical cancer.

World Entrepreneurs Day Celebrations on August 21, 2023 to August 31, 2023

World Entrepreneurs Day was celebrated by SSSS College of Commerce for Women from August 21 to August 31, 2023. To mark the occasion a series of activities viz. Poster Making, Slogan Writing, Banner Making and Essay Writing were organized. The students participated in these activities with great zeal and enthusiasm. Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur appreciated the efforts of the students.

31st Foundation day (September 01, 2023)

SSSS  College of Commerce for Women, a progressive institution established in 1993 with its commitment to  pursue excellence in education through innovation and integrity, celebrated 31st foundation day  on  Friday, September 01,2023.

The foundation day was celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm in the College campus. The Bhog Sehaj Path was performed on this occasion.  Soulful Hymns from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji were sung and Ardas was intoned. 

  1. Jagdish Singh ji, Hony.Secy., Heads and faculty members of SSSS institutions and members of the students’ council and students of all the courses were present on this occasion. While addressing the sangat, the Hony. Secy. talked about how this College came into existence. He congratulated the students & their parents and faculty for showing excellent University Results

since its inception. He emphasized on performing the tasks with concentration and dedication, and maintaining discipline in life. 

Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal, while thanking Almighty for showering HIS love and blessings, congratulated the students and the staff for continuing the legacy of maintaining the Gurmat Traditions of the College. Remembering the first batch of 20 students, she talked about the efforts and contributions made by all students and members of the staff for the remarkable progress made over the years. She talked about the contribution of NSS unit of the College in collaboration of ’Reap Benefit-NGO organization’ in cleanliness drive and creating awareness among community. She thanked the Director Sir for enlightening the faculty. 

A special Prize distribution function at Rose Villa Hall was also held to felicitate the meritorious students of sessions 2022-23 and 2023-2024. These included 100 students who performed Gurmat sewa throughout the session, excelled in academics, in rangoli competitions, in quiz competition pertaining to the Magazine ‘Sifti’ conducted by the College and those by Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle. Prizes included cash prizes, momentos, certificates and medals.  

To add colour to the festivities, everyone dressed in attire either of the colours of “Pillars of SSSS” viz. saffron, red, white, and blue signifying religiosity, integrity, transparency and steadfastness.

Visit to science exhibition held at SSSS Khalsa Senior Secondary School on Theme ‘Chandrayaan-3” (September 04, 2023)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized a visit to science exhibition being held at SSSS Khalsa Senior Secondary School on the theme “Chandrayaan-3” on Sept 04, 2023. 18 students and 2 teachers from the college interacted with the students of the school who gave them a brief description of the working of Chandrayaan-3 and its components namely the propulsion module, Vikram Lander and the Rover (Pragyan). The students also demonstrated the working of the entire model of Chandrayaan-3 which they had prepared all by themselves.

The students of the college found the learning experience exciting and truly informative. Mrs. Ravneet Kaur and Dr. Tina Vohra from the college highly appreciated the initiative of the school staff and students.

Teacher’s Day (September 05, 2023)

Remembering the eminent philosopher and former President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, on his birth anniversary, SSSS College of Commerce for Women Amritsar celebrated Teacher’s Day on September 5, 2023. Students of final year arranged a cultural programme for teachers in the College Hall Rose Villa on this occasion. Students recited poems, performed choreography and dances. A number of riddles, games and modelling round for teachers were also the part of programme. Students honoured teachers with flowers.

Students expressed their gratitude towards Director S. Jagdish Singh Ji, Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur and all teachers for their unwavering dedication in shaping young minds and igniting aspirations.

Principal while addressing students and teachers shared that sharing is important for growing. She recited English version of ‘Prayer of Light’ giving message of enlightenment of the soul, the spirit, the self.

E-Biz (September 06, 2023)

To mark the National Entrepreneurship Day a special event was an organized on September 06, 2023 to encourage the spirit of initiative and rigour amongst the students. The participation exhibited this talent and ideas in varied forms viz role plays, presentations, management games.

Dr. Navdeep Kaur highly lauded the choice of topics & zeal of the faculty & students. Mrs. Harpreet Kaur & Mrs. Monica Chhabra jointly co-ordinate the event in a smooth & successful manner.

Extension Activity- Guest Lecture (September 08, 2023)

A guest lecture was organized at Govt. Girls Sen. Sec. School, Shivala Road, Amritsar on September 08, 2023 as a part of our extension activity whereby the faculty members from the college delievered talk on advanced IT concepts.

Ms. Kawaljit Kaur led the first two sessions, which was designed to introduce the students of IX and X with advanced options available in MS Excel and fundamentals of DBMS. After then the next two sessions were conducted by Mrs.Ashmeet Kaur to the students of XI and XII about in-depth working in python environment and detailed queries related SQL.

The principal of the school and faculty thanked the college administration for this endeavor and appreciated the resource person.

Book Bank Fair ‘Saugaat’ (September 11 and September 12, 2023)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized a two days Book- Bank Fair under the project ‘Saugaat’. Students of the college were given an opportunity to take the books free of the cost. Approximately 573 books from various disciplines viz Commerce, Economics, Management, Computer Science, Literature (English and Punjabi), Religion, Spirituality and Competitive Examinations were given away to the students in book fair. To consolidate the tenet of ‘sharing with others’, the students were invited to come up with any book and take away any book of their choice in return from the Book Bank. 800 students and the staff members participated in this fair and exchanged books.

Dr. Samriti Kapoor, Asst. Prof. in Commerce & Ms. Sirjan Kaur, student from B.Com Sem-III were declared donors of the day from faculty and students respectively for contributing maximum number of books. Ms. Harshita received special recognition for gifting a rare book on legendary Bhagat Puran Singh. Ms. Vaishali received appreciation for a book on latest in General Knowledge.

The fair was inaugurated by S. Jagdish Singh, Hony. Secy. He highlighted the valuable books available in the fair and spoke at length about a renowned Punjabi scholar Sardar Kapoor Singh. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal informed that this is a regular event of the College and the facility is extended to students to take any book from this joint pool all year round. The enthusiasm amongst the students was clearly visible in this Book Fair. Mrs. Simranjeet Kaur (Librarian) and Mrs. Monica Chhabra (Asst. Prof. in Commerce) jointly coordinated the event successfully.

Cervical Cancer (September 18, 2023)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized awareness campaign on the theme Cervical Cancer in the collaboration with NGO Phulkari. The session was conducted by the resource persons. Dr. Vandhana Sharma and Mrs. Priyanka Goyal. The resource persons during the interactive session presented the power point presentation and talked about the causes, symptoms and preventive measures of cervical cancer. They emphasized on undergoing the vaccination and screening test in time. About 200 students of Semester-III of all the courses attended the session with keen interest. Mrs. Ravneet Kaur and Dr. Samriti Kapoor coordinated the event.

Mother’s Meet (September 15 and 20, 2023)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women in Amritsar recently hosted a ‘Special Meeting’ with the mothers of first-year students enrolled in various programs, including B.Com, B.Com(FS), BBA, B.Sc.(Eco), and BCA, on September 15 and 20. The primary aim of this gathering was to provide parents with valuable insights into the college’s core principles and values, fostering a collaborative platform for both teachers and parents to enrich their children’s educational journey. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, the Principal, eloquently presented the college’s academic program vision to the parents. During the meeting, parents actively engaged in discussions on various aspects of their children’s holistic development, and subject instructors addressed their queries comprehensively. Approximately 250 parents attended this event and expressed their gratitude for the college’s initiative in maintaining a strong connection with them. To conclude the gathering, a tea service was provided to all attendees.

Book Review Session (September 15, 2023)

On September 15, 2023, the college organized a Book Review Session titled ‘Girl Empower Yourself: Get Your Wings to Soar.’ Hema Vinod, the author of the book, conducted this session online, enlightening students about the book’s content. In a concise half-hour presentation, she elucidated how her book empowers girls to ask the right questions, thereby catalyzing positive changes and improvements in their lives. Vinod also advocated seven key steps that, when diligently practiced, can lay the foundation for a solid, healthy, and joyful future.

Following this enlightening session, a feedback link was shared with the students. Ms. Deepika Khanna, Assistant Professor in English, efficiently coordinated this engaging event.

Special Goshthi Session Celebrates the Departure of Two Beloved Faculty Members (September 22, 2023)

In a heartfelt and poignant gathering, a special session of Goshthi was convened on September 22, 2023, to bid farewell to two esteemed members of our faculty, Ms. Kiran and Ms. Harpreet Kaur, who have embarked on new journeys in their lives. The event was a testament to the deep impact they’ve left on our college community.The proceedings commenced with touching farewell speeches delivered by several faculty members who shared their cherished experiences of working alongside these departing individuals. Mrs. Jaskiranjit Kaur touched upon Ms. Kiran’s exceptional kindness and her ability to forge genuine connections with staff members, as well as the infectious positivity and charm embodied by Ms. Harpreet Kaur.

Mrs. Pooja celebrated the remarkable contributions of both Ms. Kiran and Ms. Harpreet Kaur to the cultural fabric of our college. She also honored them with a heartfelt poem, a beautiful expression of the love and admiration we all hold for them. Dr. Payal added a touch of poetic wisdom, reciting a self-composed poem that captured the profound intellectual exchanges she shared with Ms. Kiran.

Dr. Navdeep Kaur, our esteemed Principal, lauded the unwavering work ethic, focus, and resilience exhibited by these departing members in fulfilling their roles. She emphasized the unique talents and qualities that have forever etched their place in the hearts of the college community.

In gracious acknowledgment, Ms. Kiran and Ms. Harpreet expressed their gratitude to the College authorities for believing in their abilities and offering unwavering support throughout their tenure. As a gesture of love and blessings, they were presented with saplings, symbolic of the growth and flourishing they’ve nurtured during their time here.

The event culminated in a warm gathering over tea, where the spirit of positivity and connection continued to resonate among all present.

This special Goshthi session served as a heartfelt tribute to two remarkable individuals, marking the beginning of new chapters in their lives while reaffirming the enduring bonds they’ve cultivated within our college community.

Awareness Campaign to aware the student regarding Post Matric Scholarships under SC Scheme (September 22, 2023- September 29, 2023)

Facilitation centre of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar conducted Post Matric Scholarship Awareness campaign from September 22, 2023 to September 29, 2023 for SC students of the college. 57 students attended the different awareness sessions. Nodal Officer Ms. Harpreet Kaur Uppal, Head Department of Economics jointly with Mrs. Ashmeet Kaur, Asst. Prof. in Computer Science made the students aware about SC Scholarship, related terms and conditions as per the guidelines of PMS through power point presentation. During the session’s queries, doubts of the students were addressed. Other members of facilitation centre were also present.

Cleanliness Drive (September 30, 2023)

The NSS Unit of SSSS College of Commerce for Women in collaboration with an NGO REAP benefit, Bengluru organized the cleanliness drive under the theme’ Swachhata Hi Sewa Hai’. The volunteers of NSS got an opportunity to clean the pavement near SSSS Modern School campus at Mata Kaulan Ji Marg.Amritsar. The students exhibited commendable dedication towards cleanup activities. They fostered a sense of responsibility amongst local residents for maintaining a hygienic environment. 15 volunteers participated in the cleanliness drive along with co-ordinators.

Installation Ceremony of the Office Bearers of Rotaract Club (October 16, 2023)

Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar held its Third Installation Ceremony in the College Hall, Rose Villa on Monday 16, 2023.

With the recitation of the National Anthem the ceremony began. DRR. Rtn./Rtr. NishulSood was the Chief Guest, DRS Admin RtrSukhpinder Kaur and Rtn. Ravi Handa, President, Rotary Club Amritsar Central were the Guests of Honour. Rtn. Rakesh Kapoor and other members of the Rotary club Amritsar Central were also present on the occasion. The Distinguished dignitaries were welcomed by the officer bearers of the Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women by presenting plant saplings. 

For the session 2023-24, Ms. KarwalMuskan student of M.Com 3rd Semester was appointed Student President and accorded ceremonial Collar of the Club. Ms Jessica student of B.Com 5th Semester was appointed as the Student Secretary and other sixteen office bearers received pins indicating their respective positions in the club. Trophies were presented to the members of Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women for the year 2022-23.

The Chief Guest congratulated the rotaractors and motivated them to work as a team.

The Hony. Secy S. Jagdish Singh Ji, talked about the advent of Rotary Club which was started by Paul Harris in 1905 and about how Rotary played an instrumental role in eradicating Polio globally. He also shared with the students his experience about Sri Guru Ram Das Rotary Cancer Hospital which was established by Rotary Cancer Care Research Foundation in which he himself played an influential role.

Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur, congratulated the previous student president Ms. Cavery Mahajan on her notable performance & motivated the new president Ms. KarwalMuskan to work zealously as a team in the journey ahead.

Dr. Tina Vohra and Ms. KanikaThukral coordinated the program successfully under the able guidance of the worthy Principal.

13th Convocation Ceremony (October 21, 2023)

The 13th convocation ceremony of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, took place on October 21, 2023, to confer degrees upon the students from the batches of 2021-2022 and 2022-2023. A total of 435 graduate and postgraduate students were honored with their degrees during this momentous event. The event commenced with the dignitaries planting saplings on the school’s lush lawns and proceeded with a warm welcome address by S. Jagdish Singh Ji (Honorary Secretary and Director).This was followed by a comprehensive presentation of the college’s accomplishments and progress by Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur. The highlight of the ceremony was the convocation address, delivered by the esteemed Chief Guest, Honorable Justice Sh. Tirath Singh Thakur, (the former Chief Justice of India), who paid tribute to the founders of SSSS Institutions  and urged the graduates to remain vigilant, diligent and fully prepared to confront the challenges of corruption and poverty. He motivated the graduates to uphold their moral principles and contribute positively to their families and the nation.

The function was presided over by Honorable Justice Ranjit Singh Ji, (former Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court), and the President of the Governing Council of SSSS Khalsa Educational Institutions. He while addressing the audience emphasised the value of honesty and extended his heartfelt best wishes to the graduates. Honorable Justice S.Nawab Singh Ji, (the former Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court), graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.He commended the crucial role of SSSS  in empowering women.Heemphasised the importance of fearlessness, courage and staying connected to one’s cultural roots in order to achieve success. The dignitaries were acknowledged and presented with mementos and bouquets.

The graduation ceremony culminated with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event which was followed by The National Anthem.

An Enlightening Session on Sign Language (October 31, 2023)

SSSS College of Commerce organized a special session on “Sign Language” on Tuesday October 31, 2023. The resource person, Ms. Gurseerat Kaur accompanied by Ms. Roopkawal Kaur presided over the session. Ms. Gurseerat Kaur, who herself was diagnosed with partial deafness at the age of 8, is at present enrolled in B.Ed in Special Education at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

The session covered Ms. Gurseerat’s own experience of transforming pain into power, gaining re-assurance, inclusively and changing views of our own and others on disability throwing light on the same, she ver well enlightened the students on how to cope up with disabilities and manage such situations with confidence. The session was coordinated by Dr. Tina Vohra (Asst. Prof. in Commerce) and Mrs. Ravneet Arora (Asst. Prof in Economics).

The students found the session really enlightening.

Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Ram DassJi (November 04, 2023)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar commemorated the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Ram DassJi with deep religious fervor on November 4, 2023. Students from the SSSS Group of Institutes recited hymns from Gurbani, infusing the surroundings with divine melodies followed by the recitation of Ardas and Hukamnama.

Jagdish Singh Ji, the Honorary Secretary, reflecting on the life, legacy and teachings of Sri Guru Ram DassJi urged the sangat to adopt the virtues of selfless dedication and modesty.He also inspired the students to elevate the institution to new heights.

Dr. Navdeep Kaur, the Principal, in her address motivated the students to imbibe the values of diligent effort as they tread the virtuous path exemplified by Guru Sahib and extended her heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to everyone for the successful organization of the event.

The participants of ShabadKeertan, Ardas, and Hukamnama recitation were also honoured on the occasion.

Two Days NCW sponsored National Seminar on ‘Women in Decision Making Roles in Corporate (November 09, and 10 2023)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized on November 9 and 10, 2023 Two Days NCW sponsored National Seminar on ‘Women in Decision Making Roles in Corporate,’ in its campus. This event provided a platform to a diverse group of participants, including researchers, academicians from universities and institutions, representatives from NGOs, industry professionals, and corporate leaders.

Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur welcomed the guests, participants and research scholars. She talked about need to culminate knowledge through illuminating discussion for human development.  Director S. Jagdish Singh ji appreciated women for their unparallel contribution in all sectors. 

During the inaugural session Ms. Sonia Chadha, Deputy Vice President – HDFC while talking about challenges faced by women on leadership roles mentioned that gender biasness is most prominent challenge.  Ms. PragyaSethi, Strategist and Editor – Pano Education in Taipei, Taiwan emphasized that rather than creating space for women as leaders, they should have it.

Dr. Namita Rajput, Professor (Finance) – Sri Aurobindo College, University of Delhi. Dr. Jaspal Singh, Professor, USFS, GNDU, Amritsar chaired the two technical sessions of the first day whereas Dr. ReenaNayyar, International Management Institute New Delhi and  Dr. RupamDhillon, Psychology Department, GNDU chaired the technical sessions of day Two. Speakers of different sessions during their interaction said that female need to be strong internally, and be prepared professonally and for raising voice in and outside the family,

In total 36 papers were presented. These included a mix of review based papers, research based papers and case studies through interaction and power point presentations. Presentations, discussions and question-answer sessions revolved around collaboration at different levels on policy issues, building social networks, reforming education that will help on increasing women presentation and creating women leaders.

 Second day of the seminar was dedicated to Bibi Raj Devi ji, wife of the founder of SSSS College of Commerce for Women Amritsar. She made silent contribution along with his philanthropist husband and Founder SSSS who donated their entire property for the education of locals and upliftment and welfare of the society. Director S. Jagdish Singh ji while addressing the audience talked about historical evolution of the SSSS institutions. Chief Guest Dr. Lakhwinder Singh ji ,Professor, GNDU during his interaction raised different questions like How much importance is given to the education in our culture,  What is the purpose of education; Is it for attaining degree, job attainment or for positive change;  Whether research is contributing to the society or just for professional growth; Whether women are capable or not; Is there any change in the role of male counterpart; Is the family is closely knitted; Is female is enjoying herself to fill the gap of gender  inequality. Quoting Guru Nanak Sahib, he conveyed the role of women, her primary status, and her contribution to the family and to the society. Certificates were presented to the participants. Dr. Supreet Kaur, Assistant Professor One paper of Khalsa College was awarded ‘Best Paper Award’. The author was honoured with token of gratitude. During valedictory session, Principal thanked patronage of Director Sir, all the dignitaries, academicians, research scholars for their contribution in the form of shared ideas, thoughts and insights; and hoped that sharing of knowledge will definitely bring desirable societal changes for the human resource development by minimizing gender disparity. We need to view our self as a person and not as a women or as a man while making decisions. Make the weaknesses your strength. Disconnect from surroundings and connect yourself with the inner-self. Spend the time with ownself.  Feel positive vibes. Be creators. Collaborate rather than competing. Online Book Launch event of ‘ABC of Parenting’ by Hema Vinod (November 25, 2023)

The virtual launch of Hema Vinod’s latest book, ‘ABC of Parenting,’ was a resounding success at SSSS College. Renowned publisher Dr. Vineet Gera commended the author for her impactful books, labeling them as indispensable roadmaps for young parents. The event drew a significant number of students, building on the success of Vinod’s previous book discussions.

Hema Vinod, the author of ‘Parenting Made Simple’ and ‘Girls, Empower Yourself,’ provided insights into her latest work, sharing personal experiences as a mother that inspired her writing. The college’s faculty members, including Ms. Priyanka Sharma, Ms. Deepika Khanna, Dr. Payal Nanda, Ms. Dilpreet Kaur, Ms. Divya Gupta, Ms. Neetu Vinod, and Ms. Neha Bhandari, actively participated in the launch, expressing their appreciation for Vinod’s dedication to supporting parents.

Award Ceremony of Business Accounting Talent Search Examination (December 12, 2023)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women in collaboration with SSSS College of Commerce and Allied Studies organized Award Ceremony of Business Accounting Talent Search Examination 2023. 205 students out of 341 students from about 30 different PSEB, ICSE and CBSE schools of the city qualified the exam conducted in online mode on December 03, 2023. Talking about the initiative of conducting the exam in 2020 and its significance, Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal welcomed the audience comprising award winning students, parents, teachers, and the members of management.  Hony. Sec. S. Jagdish Singh ji while congratulating the winners said that life itself is an examination and we have to prepare for this by being strong internally. He talked about the inception of SSSS Educational Society in 1893 and in particular about the achievements of the host College in terms of its vision, alumnae placed at high position, and merit positions attained.

Prizes in the form of mementos and certificates were bestowed on the students.

First five positions were bagged by the students of SSSS Khalsa Sr. Sec. School and the trophy for maximum number of participants was also won by the same school. While honouring the winners S. Jagdish Singh ji said sincere efforts pay dividends. Teachers Ms. Ravinder Kaur and Mrs. Disha Mohan from Govt. Sen. Sec. School Shivala Road; Ms Seema Madaan from Govt. Sen. Sec. School Mall Road; Ms. Komal Sharma, Ms. Manpreet Kaur, Ms. Pooja from SSSS Modern High School;; Ms. Kajal Gulati from Madhav Vidya Niketan School and Ms. Amrita Kaur from SSSS Arts College, Mrs. Harbir Kaur, Mrs. Kuldeep Kaur and Mrs.Shalini from SSSS Khalsa School, S. Sukhwinder Singh, Ms Muskan and Ms. Aashna were honoured for their unconditional support.

Ms. Satinder Kaur, the Section Officer in Government Medical College, while addressing the audience thanked the alma mater and talked about the support that she got from the College in terms of the College Scholarship and the emotional support and encouragement. She was honoured for attainments.

Thereafter, 37 students who successfully completed Tally Essentials Level 1 Course in collaboration with Tally Education Pvt. Ltd. were awarded with Certificate of Completion.

Towards the end, Principal Mrs. Savita Khanna proposed the vote of thanks and wished students for their upcoming board exams.

After the award ceremony, Assistant Professor Ms. Twinkle Mahajan conducted a career counseling session for the students of Senior Secondary classes of various local schools to guide them regarding various course options available after 10+2 in the streams of Commerce, Economics and Computer Science.

 National Mathematics Day (December 22, 2023)

National Mathematics Day Celebrated at SSSS College of Commerce for Women
Amritsar, December 22, 2023: SSSS College of Commerce for Women observed National Mathematics Day today, honoring the legacy of Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The event featured enlightening video presentations on the origins of Mathematics and effective study methods. Ashpreet Kaur highlighted Ramanujan’s contributions, while Puja and Muskan Sharma recited a captivating poem on Mathematics.

Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur emphasized the importance of Mathematics, inspiring students with her personal anecdotes and the mantra, “Hard work never goes waste.” Mrs. Neetu Vinod and Mrs. Honey coordinated the successful event, with Mrs. Vijaylaxmi also in attendance.

Project Warmth 2023 – A Tale of Compassion and Care (December 27, 2023) 

Amidst the winter chill, the Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar embarked on their annual initiative, “Project Warmth.”

This year witnessed an incredible display of kindness as students and faculty joined hands, generously contributing gently used warm clothing. The aim? To bring comfort to those in need within the slum areas of Amritsar, particularly women and children enduring the harsh winter.

Under the guidance of Dr. Tina Vohra, Mrs. Ginnia Kakkar, President Ms. Karwal Muskan Kaur, and Club Advisor Ms. Sukhpinder Kaur, alongside the support of Rotaract Club of Amritsar Nectar, this project unfolded with boundless love and compassion.

Dr. Navdeep Kaur, our Principal, commended these efforts, encouraging the Rotaractors to continue championing noble causes, embodying the essence of education: making a positive impact on our community and environment.

Faculty Development Programme on Enhancing Pedagogical Practices in Accounting and Taxation (January 6, 2024)

 SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, organized a Faculty Development Programme on Enhancing Pedagogical Practices in Accounting and Taxation on January 6, 2024.

Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal, whole talking about the purpose of this faculty development program stressed the need to rekindle passion for teaching. She also emphasized the importance of self-awareness and continuous improvement in teaching.

Ms. Harleen Kaur, Section Officer, Government of Punjab shared her views regarding the various challenges faced by teachers in providing quality education within a limited time span and suggested techniques to overcome the challenges.

Ms. Jaskiranjit Kaur, Assistant Professor in Commerce focused on familiarizing the students with course objectives and course outcomes before the beginning of the session. She recommended various practices for implementing simultaneous revision and regular progress assessment.

Citing various real-life experiences, Ms. Savita Khanna, Principal, SSSS College of Commerce and Allied Studies suggested that we should maintain connectivity with the students. She also focused on the principle of “learn, unlearn, and relearn, which is an essential aspect of personal growth and development in this rapidly changing world.

In the end, an open house discussion was held, and participants shared their learning experiences.

Lohri- the festival (January 12, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women Amritsar celebrated Lohri- the festival that offers a panorama of our culture, especially that of Northern India, with zeal and enthusiasm on January 12, 2024. The festive gathering filled fun and camaraderie on this joyous occasion. All students embraced the spirit of the festival by wearing traditional attire salwar-kameez and thrilling on the beats of music and traditional Punjabi folk songs like ‘ Sunder Munderiye’. Students also enjoyed home-cooked delicacies with friends.

Director S. Jagdish Singh ji and Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur congratulated and blessed all for good health and happiness; and conveyed the message to live a life of truth, virtues, cooperation and discipline as it would prove to be an upper hand in enduring a respectable life ahead.

Empowering future professionals: Navigating cyber and workplace safety’ (January 25, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women Amritsar organized a seminar on ‘Empowering future professionals: Navigating cyber and workplace safety’ on January 25, 2024. There were two sessions during which students of class MCom, BBA, BCom(FS), final year students of  BCA, BSc(Eco), BCom attended the seminar.

Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal welcomed the resource person Ms. S. Khushbu Kumari.  Principal briefed about the 130 years journey of SSSS institutions, especially the College. While addressing the gathering, she insisted on knowing self for getting empowered.

The resource person in her interactive session talked about topics that are rarely discussed due to judgemental views of the people. Through powerpoint presentations, narrating stories and citing the examples from routine life, she talked about the relevance of the word ‘ASK’ that is attitude, skills and knowledge. Students were also engaged in the activity ‘Know the self’. She emphasized that ‘Why’ and ‘How’ to overcome the gaps, shadows and weaknesses in time is important for realising the aspirations. Otherwise the individual is herself responsible for the collapsing of her dreams. Further, she said as females are comparatively more auditory and emotional in nature, so they need to be mindful, careful and alert while using social media otherwise they may be trapped, face negative consequences, downfall, dignity degradation, defeat, frustration and isolation. She encouraged students to understand ‘Why’, set ‘Limits’ and use ‘Filters’ for taking the right set of decisions as these enable them to eliminate, reduce and reject undesirable and realise  desirable outcomes, highest purpose of the life, and hence, maintaining dignity. She concluded the seminar with the words ‘Love to appreciate the self’.

In the end, Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur presented the token of gratitude to the resource person.

National Voter’s Day (January 25, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar celebrated National Voters Day on January 25, 2024 under the project SVEEP as per guidelines of Election Commission of India, Amritsar. The purpose of celebrating the day was to create electoral awareness among the students and encourage them to participate in the electoral process.

Intra College Elocution and Debate Competition on 75th Republic Day (January 31, 2024)

75th Republic Day was observed by the NSS Unit of SSSS College of Commerce for Women in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club on January 31, 2024. To mark the celebration an intra-college elocution and debate competition was held in the college. A total of twenty two students from various courses participated and exhibited their oratory skills by speaking on various topics associated with Viksit Bharat@2047. Mrs. Mehak (Asst. Prof. in English), Ms. Maninder Kaur (Asst. Prof. in Punjabi) and Mrs. Harmandeep Kaur (Asst. Prof. in Environmental Science) were the judges for the event. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur applauded the students for their enthusiasm while participating in the event. Focusing on the theme of the program, Viksit Bharat@2047 which is a flagship programme of the Government of India aiming at involving the youth in development of the country, she said that it is the individual responsibility of each one of us to be a part of the growth of the nation.

Guidance Session on UGC Exam Preparation (February 01, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized a “Guidance Session on UGC Exam Preparation” on February 01, 2024. Ms. Sirjan Arneja, Assistant Professor in Commerce and Ms. Ridham Gupta, Research Assistant acted as resource persons for the session. They apprised the students about the UGC-NET Exam eligibility criteria, syllabus and registration process. Resource Persons further explained the students about essentials & strategies to crack UGC NET/JRF exam. The queries of the students were well handled by the resource persons. The students found the session quite informative and interactive.

Career Carnival (February 09, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women has organized Two Days Career Conclave 2024 in association of SSSS College of Commerce and Allied Studies. On the first day that is February 9th, 2024, there were two sessions held at college auditorium Vidyak Bhavan, extension campus, Batala Road, Amritsar. These sessions focused on the orientation of the students about the theme of program.

Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur and Principal Mrs. Savita Khanna formally welcomed the guest speakers. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur shared the functioning of the placement cell and e-cell of the College. She further said that the ingredients of a career are to start doing that which is worthwhile. For sound foundation and unlock career opportunities, one needs constant learning and better awareness.

The resource person Prof. Dr. Saroj Bala, Dean College Development Council Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar while addressing the gathering said that for the career development and becoming a good citizen of the nation, one needs to have awareness, understand the self through self-assessment, to learn soft and hard skills required in the area of interest. Resource person Prof. Dr. Amit Chopra, Director, Placements Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar during the second session talked about the ‘Journey Towards Success’. For being successful, one has to move to right direction, reflect on the target to be achieved and take actions accordingly. For professional growth, the resource person emphasized on setting and regular assessment of the milestones, following the disciplined and healthy life.

Director S. Jagdish Singh ji while congratulating students emphasized on believing simplicity, respecting the parents, being calm and composed in all situations, becoming responsible, following etiquettes and grateful to the Almighty for HIS blessings.

In the end of each session, students’ queries were resolved. The message of building positive mindset and growth and developing CV that reflects you and your skills, was conveyed. Speakers were honoured with the token of gratitude.

Career Carnival (February 10, 2024)

On the occasion of concluding day of Career Conclave 2024 held in the College, SSSS College of Commerce for Women proudly announced its achievement of securing the 3rd position in the College Champ category for the North Zone in the HY1 of 2023–24 under the prestigious Tally Vidya Jyothi Awards. This recognition, bestowed by Tally Education and Distribution Services Private Limited, a subsidiary of Tally Solutions Pvt Ltd., celebrates the college’s exemplary efforts in promoting skill development in accounting and finance.

The college’s commitment to nurturing real-world skills alongside formal education has been underscored by this honor. With 105 students completing the Tally Essential Level-I course, 24 of them achieving scores exceeding 90%, SSSS College has demonstrated its dedication to providing practical knowledge in Tally software.

Jagdish Singh Director and Dr. Navdeep Kaur, the Principal, extended congratulations to Mrs. Jaskiranjit Kaur, coordinator, Ms. Twinkle, the in-house trainer, and the students for their outstanding efforts. This achievement reaffirms the college’s mission to prepare students for future career challenges by equipping them with essential skills.

Today’s sessions were focused on providing information about competitive exams for CAT and various vacancies in Public sector banks and Government organizations. Mr. Gautam Aggarwal, Head Career Launcher, Mr. Sushil Misra, Times GM Institute and Mr. Jiten Centre Manager IBT and Mr. Jatin Counselor IBT were the speakers of the event.

Winter Cranival (February 14, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar hosted Winter Carnival on occasion of Basant Panchami Wednesday, February 14, 2024 with great ardor and exuberance. Basant Panchami signifies life-long learning, pursuit of wisdom, dedication and consistent efforts. Keeping the spirit of the celebration, the event was organized by the Entrepreneur Cell of the College to give students a platform for exhibiting their business acumen and leadership skills and preparing them for the world of work.  Students exploring their entrepreneurship abilities put up several stalls comprising a wide range of handicrafts, fashion accessories, eatables, fun games, nail art, Mehendi, perfumes, vermicompost, music and modeling, photography, handwriting analysts and numerology consultation.  A stall named “Timeless Treasure” featuring hand-knitted crochet items by Sardarni Swarn Kaur Ji, an octogenarian, was a major attraction for young girls.  Rotaract Club also set up its counter for charitable cause.  While inaugurating the event, Director S. Jagdish Singh ji appreciated the students for showcasing their entrepreneur skills through business ideas that they may use in their future as a profession.  Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur cherished the students for their creative ideas, initiative, leadership and organizational skills and encouraged them for strengthening these skills. Students of SSSS College of Allied Studies also displayed the items for the sale.  In the end, judgment was made on the basis of the idea and its execution. Combining the elements of enterprise and entertainment, the event was found to be a highly enjoyable learning experience by all. 

Participation in Lit- Fiesta 2024 organized by PG Department of Khalsa College and Mulk Raj Anand Literary Society (February 15, 2024)

Students of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, participated in different contests of Lit- Fiesta 2024, organized by PG Department of English of Khalsa College, Amritsar and Mulk Raj Anand Literary Society on February 15, 2024. Samridhi (BCA-VI) bagged Second Prize in Extempore. Ritika (B.Com-IV) stood Third Prize in Story-Writing. Pavneet Kaur (B.Com-VI) participated in self-composed English Poem Recitation. Shweta (B.Com-VI) took part in Painting of a Literary Scene while Kashish (B.Com-VI) was involved in Mono Acting & Literary Fancy Dress Competition. Mock Interviews for College Students (February 17, 2024)

The Placement Cell of the college organized ‘Employability Skills Program’ by Mahindra Pride Classroom for the students of B.Com (FS) Sem-VI and BBA Sem-VI in the month of August. The program aimed at providing college students with valuable insights and practical skills to prepare them for future career endeavors to impart comprehensive learning, six months later. On February 17, 2024, Mahindra Group conducted mock interviews for the same students to put their learning into practice, receive feedback and further refine their interview skills. The mock interviews were structured into three rounds: General Interview, Extempore and Group Discussions. Following each round of the mock interviews, participants received personalized feedback from Ms. Bharti Chadda- the interviewer. This phased approach enhanced the effectiveness of the learning experience empowering students with confidence and competence needed to excel in real world interviews.

Awareness Seminar on ‘Tech trends for Young Entrepreneurs’ (February 20, 2024)

SSSS college of Commerce for women, Amritsar in Collaboration with AOSC India pvt. Ltd organised   an awareness Seminar on ‘Tech trends for young Entrepreneurs’ On February 20th, 2024.

The Resource person of the Event, Mr.Gaganadeep Singh, Recruitment Manager AOSC India Pvt. Ltd. explained the emerging technologies and trends to the students. He highlighted the rapidly Evolving trends of the digital landscape which are essential for entrepreneurial Success. Ms. Jhanvi Khosla Student of B.Com. VI Semester is selected as an intern by the AOSC India pvt. Ltd.for the internship. This session was quite an interactive Session.

Driving Licence Camp (February 20, 2024)

As per the directives of District Regulatory Bodies, a Driving License Camp was organized by College on Feb 20, 2024. 53 students successfully submitted application forms for Learner’s Licence. S. Roshan Singh guided the students regarding further process of mandatory online test that would be held in the college only. The initiative by the College authorities was highly appreciated by all the students.

Taranjeet Singh Sandhu, Former Indian Ambassador to the United States, a special interacts with students (February 22, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women Amritsar organized a special interactive session for the students with Former Indian Ambassador to the United States, S. Taranjeet Singh Sandhu on February 22, 2024. Hailing from the holy city Amritsar, the State of Punjab, he said that Health, innovation, space, semiconductor supply chains, IT, AI, Energy, Defence, Education and knowledge partnership are among the key focus areas where we can think out of the box. The ambassador’s interest in City College also reflects his concern for the economic growth and development of the city, state, and the country.

Director S. Jagdish Singh ji talked about the historical relevance of the Samundri Hall in the Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar, named after the Sikh Scholar S.Teja Singh Sumundri ji the grandfather and contribution of the first VC of GNDU, Amritsar S. Bishan Singh Samundari ji, the father of S. Taranjit Singh Sandhu ji.

During his participatory conversation, he shared the exposure he is blessed with, talked about gender equality and women empowerment persisting presently in young India. He focused on the need to introspect the talent within and tap the innate potentialities. Token of gratitude in the form of photographs depicting the sweet memories of the good old days was presented.

Online Interactive Session on Menstrual Health and the Myths & Taboos (February 22, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, organized an online interactive session on Menstrual Health and the Myths & Taboos associated with it in virtual mode on February 22, 2023 for the First year students.  Mrs Nitya Chaudhary, CSR executive, Unicharm India & a specialist in child and women welfare was the resource person.  The speaker made the participants aware about the various concepts related to menstruation such as hormonal changes that occur during adolescence period, menstrual cycle, menstrual abnormalities etc. Keeping in mind the age group of the participants, the special focus of the interactive session was on polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD) which has become common among the young women because of hectic and stressful life style. Further, she suggested various yoga exercises and to be occupied in the productive tasks to overcome emotional issues.

Business Quiz (February 23, 2024)

Business Quiz was organised by the Department of Commerce & Business Administration of SSSS College of Commerce for Women on February 23, 2024. The participants for the Business Quiz were selected through a preliminary round held on January 24, 2024 in which 95 students appeared. Three teams comprising three participants each, competed through 7 rounds viz. Biz-e-buzz, sports, politics, general awareness, subject awareness, infotainment and Rapid fire.

Janhavi khosla (B.Com Sem-VI), Dolly Bhatia (B.Com Sem-VI) and Pavleen Kaur (B.Com Sem-VI) were declared as the winners of the Business Quiz. Principal, Dr. Navdeep kaur, congratulated the winners for their outstanding performance.

She emphasized the need for upgradation and sharpening of knowledge through such intellect igniting events. She also applauded the participation of the audience as being the soul and spirit of the programme.

SAANJH ‘The Alumni Meet’ (February 28, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women Amritsar organized Alumni Meet ‘Sanjh-The Scared Bond’ on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Vidyak Bhavan, Auditorium SSSS Campus.

The meet aimed at fostering and promoting bond and association with the passed-out students, and collaborating with them for creating opportunities and explore innovative ideas to take SSSS College to great heights.

Director S.Jagdish Singh ji appreciated the alumnae’s contribution for the name and fame of the institution through their attainments in different avenues and for acting as the beacon of hope for the younger generation. 

Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur thanked the alumnae for sparing their valuable time for strengthening the bond of love and association. She appreciated the students in creating the memories and imagination by being present during the event. 

The cultural team of the College presented the vibrant cultural program, comprising fusion of traditional and modern music, Punjabi traditional folk songs, poetry, and dances like Gidha for the enjoyment, and creating sweet memories and experiences for the alumnae. This programme, directed by Ms. Kiran Bala and Ms. Harpreet Kaur, was highly appreciated by one and all. 

Sixty-one alumnae across various batches attended the meeting, shared the experiences and expressed gratefulness to the alma mater for their holistic development. This meet gave a chance to the alumnae to reconnect with their institution and old friends. Honours were also accorded to the alumnae for their accomplishments. Certificates were presented to the present students for their performance in the cultural program.

Bhog Sehaj Path of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (March 01, 2024)

Bhog Sehaj Path of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji followed by soulful rendition of shabads from Gurbani was performed in the College campus on March 01, 2024 as per the annual program of the College. The entire ceremony comprising of performing Ardas and taking of Hukamnama was rendered by the students in true devotion and spirit. Holy Deg and Community Langar were also served.  Students actively involved in the Gurmat Sewa, Shabad recitation & Aardas and those who performed excellently in SGPC Dharmik Pariksha were honoured. The editors Mrs. Jaskiranjit Kaur and Mrs. Isha were also honoured on the release of yearly News Letter 2024. 

Jagdish Singhji, Hony Secy. talked about the legacy of performing Gurmat Sewa in the institution, significance of self-discipline and steadfastness. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur highly lauded the spirit of the students and members who regularly perform Gurmat Bhawan Sewa and others who contributed wholeheartedly for the smooth conduct of the event. Principal Savita Khanna, Principal Dr. Gurrattan Singh, S. Gurpreet Singh, S. Jaggi were also present on this occasion.

Trip to Sri Anandpur Sahib (March 02, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women Amritsar organized a one day recreational trip to Sri Anandpur Sahib and Virasat-E- Khalsa on March 02, 2024. A group of 87 students from different departments of colleges accompanied with six faculty members. Students enjoyed reaping fast at Lucky Dhaba.At Virasat-E- Khalsa students got acquainted with various exhibits representing the journey of 550 years of Sikhism, Punjab vibrant culture and traditions. It imposed a mesmerizing impact on every one’s mind. After Virasat-E-Khalsa the whole group visited ‘Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib’ for holy darshan. Overall everyone enjoyed and had a thrilling experience.

Brain Storming 2024, An Inter College Competition was   held in KMV College Jalandhar (March 05, 2024)

An inter college competition was   held in KMV College Jalandhar. 12 Students of SSSS College of Commerce participated in Choreography and Group Disscussion Round.
The theme of the Choreography was’ Impact of Smartphone on youth’ and theme of GD ‘Social Media influencers Impact on youth’. The Students  of Choreography  of SSSS  College  of  Commerce  Scored  First Position and Consolation  prize in  Gd.

Seminar on Ensuring Mental Well being (March 6, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women Amritsar conducted a seminar titled ‘Being a Mindful Teacher’ on March 6, 2024 to mark Women’s Day for the faculty members. The resource person Ms. Manveer Kaur, a Psychologist from Aditya Birla Education Trust talked about the mental health and the ways for ensuring the wellbeing. She through the presentation, elucidated the meaning and relevance of mindfulness, and suggested various activities for improving cognitive performance as well resilience to stress. The speaker emphasized the importance of doing physical activity, socializing, providing a space for open dialogue and living in the present for leading a happy life. 

Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal shared that frictions, conflicts and not accepting the truth may lead to stress. However, stress can be reduced by bridging what we can do and what we do thoughtfully. Every individual, especially woman needs to develop the capabilities to face the thoughts, writing the diary, and spending the quality time with the self. 

Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women celebrated MahaShivratri (7th March 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, in an endeavor to reaffirm its gratitude towards the supreme power, celebrated MahaShivratri on 7th March 2024. It is believed that offering milk to Lord Shiva bestows one with health and prosperity, therefore, to mark the occasion of Mahashivratri, the volunteers of The Rotaract Club of the college distributed packets of milk and biscuits among the needy.

7 Days FDP on Emerging Trends in Research Methods & Teaching Pedagogies (March 14, 2024 – March 20, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized a Seven-Day FDP on Emerging Trends in Research Methods and Teaching Pedagogies from March 14 to March 20, 2024, at its campus.

The inaugural ceremony commenced after reciting the college prayer. The welcome note by the Principal highlighted the need for organizing such a program and mentioned the She Research Network in India ‘SheRNI platform’ launched by UGC INFLIBNET Centre for helping female scientists and faculty to connect. She also proposed and planned for conducting a pilot study related to the Flipped classroom at SSSS. During this session, the resource person, Professor Dr. Mandeep Kaur, briefed about the journey of conducting the research covering stages of the research process and suggested conducting the research at the micro level.

This one-week FDP program was organized by the IQAC Unit of the College and coordinated by Mrs. Pooja Moonga and Dr. Samriti Kapoor.

Various sessions were conducted during the FDP. Dr. Shivan Sarpal, Assistant Professor Khalsa College of Law, Amritsar, involved the participants in hands-on application of various statistical techniques like t-test, one-way ANOVA, and chi-square using SPSS software and how to interpret the results. Dr. Yadwinder Parmar, Assistant Professor University Business School, GNDU Amritsar, acquainted the participants about Regression Analysis and its applications through illustrations and examples. Dr. Ravineet Kaur, Assistant Professor, University Business School GNDU Amritsar discussed ‘How to Design a Questionnaire or Survey for Research’ and talked about different research techniques, type of scales, format of the questionnaires, and how to translate the research questions into variables of the study through relevant examples. Dr. Sidharath Seth, a Corporate Trainer talked on Technical Analysis Financial Modeling using Factor Models. Dr. Deepika Kohli, Assistant Professor Khalsa College of Education, Amritsar focused on Innovative Pedagogical Strategies like cooperative learning, collaborative strategies, and peer learning using activities. Dr. Ritu Dhawan, Assistant Professor, Khalsa College for Women, Amritsar, talked about ‘From Data to Dimensions: A Journey into Factor Analysis’ and explained theoretical and practical implications of the factor analysis using examples. Dr. Vikas Kumar, Assistant Professor, University Business School GNDU, Amritsar discussed ‘Least Squares – Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) Using Smart PLS’ and strategies to publish research papers in high-impact journals. Dr. Poonam Mahajan, Assistant Professor, GNDU College Narot Jaimal Singh, Pathankot discussed ‘Panel Data Regression Analysis’ and suggested considering the models to be formulated before beginning the research process. Dr. Dilpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor University Business School, GNDU Amritsar, acquainted the participants about Structuring a Research Paper through relevant examples and suggested certain tips and preliminary checks required before embarking upon writing a research paper.

Dr. Pavleen Kaur, Professor and Head, University Business School, GNDU, Amritsar, presided over the Valedictory Session and talked about the uplifted and multifaceted role of teachers in the present ever-changing era. She suggested moving from qualitative to mixed-method research.

During the formal vote of thanks, the Principal congratulated the participants and suggested being continuous learners and passionate teachers. Tokens of gratitude were presented to all the resource persons.

The sessions were learner-oriented, purposeful, and innovative, involving 40 participants comprising faculty and post-graduate students in hands-on application of various statistical techniques, sharing intellect and expertise, academic and research experiences, discussing teaching pedagogies and statistical analysis techniques of quantitative data, and engaging participants to remain curious by providing space for questioning and clarifying their doubts.

It was a remarkable and pleasing learning experience for participants in the journey of research. In the end, certificates were distributed to the participants and the Coordinators. S. Jagdish Singh ji, Honorary Secretary congratulated the organizing committee on the successful execution of the program and asked them to sharpen their research and pedagogical endeavors to deliver excellence in teaching and learning practices.

 Online Workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights & Patents & Design Filing’ (March 28, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women in association with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM), Govt. of India, Nagpur organized ‘Online Workshop On Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) & Patents and Design Filing on March 28, 2024 under National Intellectual Property awareness mission. Mr. Kumar Raju, Assistant Controller of Patents & Designs (RGNIIPM) acted as resource person. He made the students aware about various types of IP’s namely  Patents, Trademark, Designs and copyrights.He also talked about Geographical Indications of goods as a part of Intellectual Property.The resource person made the students aware about the how and why of getting their IPs and innovations registered. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal, thanked the resource person for his valuable insights.Mrs.Priyanka Sharma and Ms.Kawaljit Kaur were the coordinators of the workshop.Dr. Samriti Kapoor proposed the formal vote of thanks.

The Martyrdom Day of Shaheed-E- Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Ji, Shaheed Sukhdev Ji, Shaheed Rajguru Ji (March 28, 2024)

The Martyrdom Day of Shaheed-E- Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Ji, Shaheed Sukhdev Ji, Shaheed Rajguru Ji was celebrated on 28-03-2024 at Sant Singh Sukha Singh College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar.  The entire event was organized under the able guidance of Director Sir S. Jagdish Singh ji and Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur.  The main objective of the event was to make the students aware about the martyrdom of the freedom fighters. The life philosophy of the freedom fighters was brought to light through a rally, documentary, poems and a PowerPoint presentation. Apart from this, students were given information about the books and magazines related to martyrdom of the patriots treasured in the college library.  While addressing the students, Principal Dr.  Navdeep Kaur shared her thoughts with the students and inspired them never to be slaves to anyone and to take inspiration from within ourselves, stay away from social evils and do good to the society.

Cleanliness Drive (March 29, 2024)

The NSS unit of the SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized a cleanliness drive on March 29, 2024, in its campus. Around 80 NSS volunteers from various Departments of the College participated in the event.

The purpose behind this drive was to inculcate amongst the students the value of cleanliness and direct them towards being equal partners in maintaining cleanliness and order in their surroundings. As part of the activities undertaken during this drive, the students cleaned the garden area, painted the flower pots, and rearranged the books in the library, cleaned Yoga Bhawan and Gurmat Bhawan. This event coordinated by Mrs. Dilpreet Kaur and Ms. Mamta Arora has been part of the NSS activities of the college.

The drive ended with light refreshments and clicking of photographs in the college garden to make the day memorable.

Workshop on ‘E Waste Management’ (March 29, 2024) 

SSSS College of Commerce for Women in association with Pahal NGO organized a ‘Workshop on E-Waste Management’ on March 29, 2024. Dr. Rajan Sharma, Project Manager, Pahal NGO, Jalandhar acted as a resource person. He made the students aware of various sources of E-Waste and the toxic heavy metals arising from the unscientific disposal of E-Waste by the informal sector leading to various health hazards. He also talked about repair, refurbishment, recycling, and collection drives that can be useful in the proper management of E-Waste.

The session was attended by around 65 students and faculty members. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal, highly appreciated the resource person and the NGO Pahal for their commitment to the noble cause. Dr. Tina Vohra and Ms. Harmanpreet Kaur were the coordinators of the workshop.

Expert Talk on Entrepreneurship Skills (30 March 2024)

The Entrepreneurship & Placement Cell of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, in collaboration with SSSS College of Commerce and Allied Studies, organized a successful “Expert Talk on Entrepreneurship Skills” on March 30th, 2024. 

The session aimed to empower budding entrepreneurs amidst the growing trend of entrepreneurship in India. Around 170 students from the Department of Commerce and Business Administration attended the event. Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur, emphasized the importance of a growth mindset, encouraging students to view entrepreneurship and employment as paths to self-discovery and fulfillment.

Dr. Jaspal Singh, Professor, USFS, GNDU, Amritsar, the resource person, delved into the history of entrepreneurship, highlighting risk-taking and passion as key traits. He showcased successful Indian entrepreneurs and discussed the crucial role entrepreneurs play in economic recovery. The session concluded with Dr. Singh stressing the importance of identifying strengths, fostering innovation, and setting goals for a fulfilling entrepreneurial journey.

Mrs. Savita, Principal of SSSS College of Commerce and Allied Studies, further motivated students to embrace their unique strengths and values for a successful future.

Trip to Dalhousie (March 30 & 31, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized a 2-day trip to Dalhousie on 30th and 31st March 2004. 60 students from the second and final year of various streams were accompanied by four teachers. The trip covered sightseeing at Subash chowk, Gandhi chowk, and Green valley. Besides this, students enjoyed adventurous sports and tracking at Panchpulla. Students were mesmerized witnessing the serene beauty of nature. They were overjoyed with the itinerary arrangements. Overall everyone enjoyed and had a thrilling experience. A team of faculty led by Mrs. Monica Chhabra accompanied the group and reported very good behavior of the students which made the trip all the more enjoyable for all.

Celebration of World Health Day (April 06, 2024)

The NSS volunteers of the college took part in the mega cleanliness drive organized by the Amandeep Medi city Hospital to commemorate World Health Day.

21 NSS Volunteers visited the historical Ram Bagh Gardens and undertook cleaning of the garden area hugely visited by the morning walkers daily. They not only cleaned up the passages but also spoke to the onlookers and made them aware of the value of maintaining cleanliness at this heritage site of the city. The organizers were highly appreciative of the volunteers led by the NSS coordinators in helping spread the message of cleanliness amongst the citizens.

Tech-Fest (April 08, 2024)

Computer Science Department of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized Tech-Fest 2024 in College Hall, Lafani. 111 students participated enthusiastically in various events including Catch the Bug, Logic Whirlpool, Techno Reels, Paper Presentation, Poster Making and Slogan Writing. The performance of the participants was judged by Ms. Monika Sharma, Asst. Prof. Dept. of English, SSSS College of Commerce and Allied studies and Ms. Kawaljit Kaur, Dept. of Computer Science based on criteria like Content, Design of PPT, Communication Skills, Presentation and Time taken. The participants apprised about latest technologies like Ed Tech in Education sector, OTT platforms in Entertainment field, met averse for gaming and social interaction, AI image generation and screen less displays in IT Sector. Some participants also made the audience aware of the cyber-attacks, ethical hacking and CAPTCHA for cyber security. Mrs.Pooja Monga, Head, Dept. of Computer Science was co-ordinator of the event. Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur, congratulated students for overwhelming participation and encourage them for learning from each other, she further stressed that the best part of learning is to engage oneself in one’s own passion creatively.

Morning Assembly for Final Year Students (April 9, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar held an assembly on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 in the Rose Villa Hall for the final year students of the College to seek the blessings of the Almighty before the beginning of their final exams.

Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal emphasized on the values fostered in them by the SSSS institutions and urged them not to forget to pray and thank God each day for the blessings He has bestowed upon us. She also insisted on the importance of collaborative learning and told the students about the new collaboration of the college with Symbiosis Centre for Distance learning, Pune for Distance learning MBA.102 students were awarded certificates for Successful completion of courses namely Tally Essentials Level I, The Expressionist Programme: Course in Personality Development and Employability Skill Programme by Mahindra Pride Classroom. Ms. Twinkle Mahajan, Asst Prof in Commerce and Mrs. Ginnia Kakkar, Asst Prof in Computer Science introduced the students to M.COM, GST and Web designing courses available in the college after graduation. Morning Assembly for Second Year Students (April 10, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar held an assembly on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in the Rose Villa Hall for the second year students.The main motive of this assembly is to seek the blessings of the Almighty before the beginning of their final exams and to award certificates to the students who have completed various certified courses organized by the college.

Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur expressed her appreciation for the students’ active involvement in various college activities. She highlighted the inevitability of life’s ups and downs, drawing parallels with the game of snakes and ladders. She emphasized that we must persevere and seize every opportunity life presents. She also insisted that success is not solely determined by one’s talents or circumstances or connection, but by the tenacity to endure and persist. Morning Assembly for First Year Students (April 11, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women held a morning assembly for first-year students from various departments at Rose Villa on April 11, 2024. The assembly aimed to celebrate the students’ achievements, growth, and future aspirations. It commenced with a Shabad and Ardaas to seek blessings for the upcoming exams. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur addressed the students, highlighting positive feedback and encouraging active participation, a positive attitude, and mindful communication. She offered guidance on improving attendance, punctuality, and writing skills, and urged students to seek help from teachers for exam revision. Certificates were awarded to students who completed courses such as the Bridge Course in ‘Communication and Core Computing Skills’, Tally Essential Level-I, and Level I of the Life Development Programme – The Expressionists. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Jaskiranjit Kaur, HOD, Department of Commerce.

Online Trading & Decoding Business New Channels (April 11, 2024)

A session on “Online Trading and Decoding Business News Channels” was held on April 11, 2024, for final-year B.Com and B.Com (FS) students. Mr. Ajay Chaudhary, Partner at Chaudhary Shares and Securities, associated with the Motilal Oswal Group since 2004, was the resource person. He educated students on online trading, using mobile applications, and online platforms for trading. He explained the clearing and settlement process in the stock market and recommended various news channels and YouTube influencers for market updates. The session, attended by around 100 students, concluded with a Q&A segment. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Jaskiranjit Kaur and Mrs. Monica Chabbra, and Ms. Twinkle Mahajan delivered the formal vote of thanks.

Morning Assembly for Post Graduate and Diploma Students (April 12, 2024)

On April 12, 2024, SSSS College of Commerce for Women held a morning assembly for Post Graduate and Diploma students at Rose Villa Hall. The assembly sought blessings before the final examinations and awarded certificates to participants of the Expressionist Programme. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur motivated students to reflect on their learning experiences, collaborate with peers, and set future goals. She encouraged students to share innovative ideas, assuring them of the college’s support in providing necessary resources to enhance their learning. This event emphasized the importance of self-reflection and goal-setting for personal and academic growth.

Annual Awards Day (April 22, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized its ‘Awards Day’ on April 22, 2024 in the college auditorium ‘Vidyak Bhawan’ to celebrate and applaud the achievements of the students. Justice (Retd.) Ranjit Singh Randhawa, Former Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court presided over the event. Director S. Jagdish Singh Ji extended a warm welcome to the President of SSSS Managing Committee and all other dignitaries present on the occasion. Principal Dr Navdeep Kaur presented the college report highlighting the unique features and core values of the college. A special presentation was shared by Ms. Samridhi, the head girl of the college highlighting the balanced learning platform provided by the college which includes academics and a wide range of co-curricular opportunities with an aim to ensure multifold learning experiences. 318 students were recognized for their outstanding performances in academics and extra-curricular activities and were honored with prizes, trophies, medals and certificates amidst applause from the audience. The day was a momentous occasion for the faculty and the students of the college as they were bidding a warm farewell to an outstanding teacher Mrs. Jaskiranjit Kaur, Department of Commerce and Business Administration. To instill moral values amongst the students and to ensure their holistic development, a booklet on ‘Moral Education’ was released. In his address, Justice Randhawa congratulated and praised the multi-dimensional achievements of the students.  Sardarni Swarn kaur ji, Dr Manmohan Singh Ji, S. Piara Singh Ji, Advocate Hardeep Singh, S. H.S Virdi, S. Jasbir Singh Patti, S. Jatinder Singh and Dr Manpreet Kaur were also present on the occasion. 

 SSSSian Fiesta (April 26, 2024)

SSSSian Fiesta was celebrated to bid a warm farewell to the outgoing post-graduate and graduate students of SSSS College of Commerce for Women Amritsar, at Vidyak Bhavan Auditorium on April 26, 2024. It was the time of reflections, celebrations, and wishing students for their bright future filled with endless opportunities, happiness and success. 

Choreography, folk dances, songs, exciting games, play, quiz etc. were arranged by the students of first year and second year classes to make the day exciting and memorable for their seniors. The students attired in simple yet graceful traditional as well as modern outfits adorned the stage during the modeling rounds. The Head Girl Ms. Samridhi presented the vote of thanks.

Jagdish Singh, Hony. Secretary and Director appreciated the efforts of students and showered his love and blessings. 

Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal appreciated the students for their gestures and for sharing their thoughts. Further, she blessed the students and guided the students to set the priorities and align the the values with the actions during the journey of the life.

Ms.  Cavery was adjudged as Miss charming, Ms. Manroop Kaur was adjudged as Miss gorgeous, Ms. Janvi Khosla was adjudged as Miss talented, Ms. Sharanpreet Kaur was adjudged as Miss executive, Ms. Samridhi was adjudged as Miss confident, Ms.Nikita Chhabra was adjudged as Miss elegant, Ms. Riya was adjudged as Miss graceful, Ms. Harpreet Kaur was adjudged as Lady of the Eve Special honours were also bestowed on the students who were having untrimmed hair and to those who have enduring connection as being SSSSian throughout their academic journey since school days.

Alumnae Ms. Deepti Aggarwal, Officer Punjab & Sind Bank, Ms. Mandeep Kaur, Assistant Administrative Officer, LIC, and Ms. Supriya Sharma, Teacher, Springdale Senior School, the judges of the day, shared their perceptions and the values they learnt from their alma mater. Token of gratitude was presented to them.  

Principals Mrs. Savita Khanna, S. Gurpreet Singh, Dr. Gurrattan Singh, Mrs. Arvinder Kaur and other members of SSSS fraternity comprising the parents graced the occasion with their benign presence.

One and all appreciated the event and especially the Choreography on theme ‘Influence of social media’ directed by Mrs. Monika Chhabra, conveying the message of availing online career opportunities, and the play titled ‘Do Farishte Panj Bhoot’, directed by Ms. Kiran that reflected on the message ‘To refrain from interfering in others affairs’.

‘Awareness Session of Employability and Placement in Banking Sector’ (April 29, 2024)    

An ‘Awareness Session on Employability and Placement in the Banking Sector’ was organized on April 29, 2024, at Rose Villa Hall. Kanwar Sukhjinder Singh Chhatwal, Director – Project Development at Sun Foundation, informed students about job-oriented programs preparing them for banking careers. He detailed the roles, responsibilities, program structure, eligibility criteria, and placement process in the banking sector. The session, attended by 160 final-year students of BBA, B.Com, M.Com, and B.Com (FS), included a Q&A session. Students found the session informative and inspiring. The event was coordinated by Dr. Samriti and Ms. Twinkle Mahajan.

World Red Cross Day Celebration (May 8, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce celebrated World Red Cross Day on May 8, 2024, with the theme “I give with joy and the joy I give is a reward.” To promote the joy of giving, students distributed ‘Lassi’ to the needy in the company garden of Amritsar. This act of kindness fostered a sense of compassion and happiness among the students. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Ginnia Kakkar and Ms. Mamta, emphasizing the importance of empathy and community service.

Foundation Day Celebrations at SSSS (May 13, 2024)

Sant Singh Sukha Singh Group of Schools and Colleges, established in 1893 for spreading the light of education, celebrated its 131th Foundation day on Saturday, May 13th, 2023.  Director, S.Jagdish Singh Ji, and a group of about 100 members of the SSSS parivar comprising the principals, teachers and students paid obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib and recited Ardas to express their gratitude to The Almighty for His benedictions in the wee hours of the morning.

A function was held at Mata Kaulan Marg Campus wherein the students of SSSS schools and colleges performed Shabad Kirtan. Director, S. Jagdish Singh Ji enlightened the audience about the contribution of Advocate S. Manmohan Singhji. He further shed light on the history of 130 years of the institution and encouraged the young generation to work hard and make consistent efforts. 

A special programme coordinated by Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur and her team was held in the Vidyak Bhawan where S.Kultar Singh Sandhwan (Speaker Punjab Legislative Assembly, Chandigarh) was the chief guest.  Justice R S Randhawa (Retd.)  Presided over the event. Dr. Surinder Kaur Sandhu (Former HOD Gynecologist Medical College and Daughter of Advocate Dr. Manmohan Singhji), Dr. Jaspal Singh (Vice Chancellor GNDU,Amritsar) were honoured in the memory of Advocate S. Manmohan Singh ji. Dr. Pretty Sodhi an alumna of SSSS Modern School and Principal, MGSM Janta College, Kartarpur, Jalandhar was honoured with SSSS award.  Giani  Kenwal Singh ji, former Jaithedar Takat Sri Damdma Sahib and Bhai Sahib Ram Singh ji,  member SGPC, Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Director Amandeep Hospital and IAS  Jayant Puri were specially honoured for their remarkable contributions in their respective profession and to the society. Token of gratitude was presented to speaker S. Kultar Singh ji Sandhwan. Congratulating the audience, the Chief Guest talked about the relevance and teachings of the scriptures. Speaker sahib emphasized on aiming high, becoming leaders and creating the job opportunities and becoming perfectionists. 

Justice S. Ranjit Singh ji (Retd.) was also honoured for his services. Justice Sahib appreciated the students for sharing their thought-provoking ideas. Dr. Surinder Kaur remembering her father advocate S. Manmohan Singh ji, known for his contribution in translating the Sri Guru Granth Sahib in English and developing Shabadkosh, shared that his father could accomplish the task with the blessings of almighty.   

Remembering the great philanthropist S. Sant Singh ji, Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur presented the dignified journey and history of Sant Singh Sukha Singh Institutions, epitome of academics, sports and cultural activities. 

Students enlightened the gathering about the selfless endeavours of the Founder S.Sant Singh Ji, the historical significance and development of SSSS institutions through the writeups and poems titled ’SSSS Naam Nirala hai’ and penned down by Director Sahib.

The event ended with the presentation of the vote of thanks by Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur and the recitation of the National Anthem.

Honoring Ceremony (May 14, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized honoring ceremony for toppers of recently passed 10+2 class (session 2023-24) on May 14, 2024 on the occasion of 132th Foundation Day celebration of SSSS Educational Institutions.

During the ceremony twelve students who scored 92% and above were honoured. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal extended her heartfelt best wishes and blessings to all the students for their bright future. The smiles on the students’ faces were a clear indication of their immense joy for being honoured. Coordinator of the Bridge Course Ms. Twinkle Mahajan, Assistant Professor in Commerce and Ms. Harpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor in Commerce successfully coordinated the event.

World No Tobacco Day (May 30, 2024)

The NSS unit of SSSS College of Commerce celebrated World No Tobacco Day on May 30, 2024. The theme was ‘Protecting Children from Tobacco Industry Interference’. The event aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use. Thirty-five NSS volunteers participated, taking a pledge to spread awareness about the dangers of tobacco. This initiative highlighted the college’s commitment to promoting health and well-being among students and the community.

Administrative Training Program for Non-Teaching Staff (May 25- May 30, 2024)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar conducted an Administrative Training Program for Non-Teaching Staff from May 25- May 30, 2024 in the College campus. The focus of this program was to acquaint and create the awareness among the members about how to maintain official records meticulously using digital tools while remaining emotionally balanced. The resource persons in their area of expertise conducted the sessions as follows.

  2. Mrs. Ravneet Kaur (Assistant Professor in Economics): Interpersonal skills

  4. Mrs. Divya Gupta (Assistant Professor in Computer): Digital Literacy
  5. Ms. Khushbu K (Corporate Trainer): Relevance of Soft Skills and Emotional Intelligence 

The members found the program relevant for performing their duties significantly and smoothly. Dr. Payal and Mrs. Vijay Laxmi coordinated the program successfully.

World Environment Day (June 5, 2024)

On June 5, 2024, the NSS unit of SSSS College of Commerce celebrated World Environment Day. The event focused on spreading awareness about combating global warming and adopting eco-friendly practices. The college faculty was inspired to adopt sustainable lifestyles to set an example for students. This celebration reinforced the importance of environmental conservation and the collective responsibility to protect our planet.

International Yoga Day (June 21, 2024)

The NSS  Unit of SSSS  College  of  Commerce  for  Women  Amritsar  Celebrated ‘International  Yoga Day’ on June 21, 2024. Focusing on the theme of International Yoga Day 2024 ‘Yoga For Self and Society ‘ students were appraised to  embrace yoga not only to enhance their personal  health but also for contributing to Social wellbeing. The Students performed various Asaans under the Instructions of Yoga Instructor of the College.  The purpose of celebrating the event is to enable the students understand how to maintain harmony between body and Mind and hence, communicating the psychological, Spiritual and Physical Benefits of yoga among Students and the community.

“Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women Honored with Prestigious Awards”(June 23, 2024)

The Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women was felicitated by Rotaract District 3070 during the thanksgiving and award ceremony, “पराग से पल्लव”, held on June 23, 2024, at Hotel Bloom in Jalandhar, Punjab. The club also participated in the installation ceremony of the new District Rotaract Representative for the year 2024-25, “Aagaaz”, held on August 3, 2024.

The club received prestigious awards, including:

The Past President of the Club was given Special Recognition for being the Director of Water Conservation.
