Faculty Development Programme on “Cultivating an Entrepreneurship Mindset” (July 15, 2025)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, organized a one-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Cultivating an Entrepreneurship Mindset” on July 15, 2025, in line with AICTE guidelines.

The session was conducted by Mrs. Monica Chhabra, Assistant Professor in Commerce. The objective of the programme was to equip faculty members with the knowledge and tools needed to inspire entrepreneurial thinking among students—encouraging a shift from a placement-centric approach to one that embraces innovation and self-driven ventures.

Mrs. Chhabra elaborated on key startup concepts such as the customer development model, business model canvas, value proposition, and identifying unmet customer needs. These were explained through practical and relatable examples, making the session engaging and insightful.

Faculty members actively participated in the discussion and found the programme particularly helpful in aligning teaching strategies towards nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset among students.

Welcomed First-Year Students with a Vision for Excellence (July 25, 2025)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women Welcomed First-Year Students with a Vision for Excellence on 25th July, 2025. The welcome address was led by Director Sr. Jagdish Singh ji and Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur, who extended their heartfelt greetings to the new batch and introduced them to the values and vision of the college.

In his address, Sr. Jagdish Singh ji highlighted the historic and cultural significance of SSSS College of Commerce, which stands as a landmark in Amritsar.

A notable moment during the event was the official release of the second edition of the interdisciplinary publication “Khoj Samvaad: The Evolution of Women Leadership.”  The event was conducted by Ms. Savi Sharma and Ms. Saranpreet Kaur.

In a proud and promising event the SSSS College of commerce for Women inaugurated its first book shop on 25th July, 2025.

SSSS College of Commerce for Women Amritsar Conducts HIV/AIDS Awareness Seminar in Collaboration with PSACS Amritsar (July 29, 2025)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, in collaboration with the Punjab State AIDS Control Society (PSACS), successfully organized a seminar on HIV/AIDS awareness on July 29, 2025.

The seminar featured Ms. Tina, ICTC Counselor, and Mr. Gagandeep Singh, Project Manager from PSACS, as the resource persons. They conducted informative sessions focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, treatment options, and the importance of reducing stigma around the disease.

A key focus of the seminar was the HIV/AIDS (Prevention & Control) Act, 2017, which legally safeguards the rights of individuals affected by HIV/AIDS and prohibits discrimination in healthcare and related services. The speakers also emphasized the role of youth in fostering a stigma-free society and highlighted the support systems available for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Over 60 students participated in the session and gained valuable insights into the medical, social, and legal dimensions of HIV/AIDS.

 Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal of the College, said, “Such talks are important to raise awareness among young people and to encourage an informed, compassionate approach to health and social issues.”

Mrs. Ashmeet Kaur, Faculty, Department of Computer Science and the seminar coordinator, added, “Students found the session highly informative and engaging. It helped clear several misconceptions and deepened their understanding of the topic.

Personal Contact Programme (PCP) (July 30 to July 31, 2025)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized the Personal Contact Programme (PCP) successfully for the first year students of BCom, BCom (FS), BBA, BSc (Eco.) BCA of session 2025-26. This two day programme was conducted   from July 30 to July 31, 2025. The programme is the regular project undertaken annually for the new entrants.  The panel of two experts interacts with each student with the purpose of understanding each student individually, her learning needs, future professional aspirations and family background. The rapport established helps in ensuring personalized support and guidance to the students whenever needed.

Dental Camp at Campus (August 04, 2025)

SSSS College of Commerce Women, Amritsar organized a Dental Camp at its campus on August 4, 2025 for about 70 students of BSc (Eco), BCom and MCom final year. The camp aimed to create awareness about Digital Dentistry, need and significance of oral health   among the students.

Dentists Dr. Nivedita Mahajan, and Dr. Paras from Mahajan Hospital conducted the session. Dr. Nivedita in her interactive session talked about the Digital Dentistry and Digital Smile Design. During checkup she emphasized early detection of potential issues, fostering a proactive approach to dental wellness.  

The event offered a range of services from preventive care measures to basic examinations.  Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur presented the token of gratitude to the Dentists. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Ravneet Arora and Mrs. Vijay Laxmi successfully. 

Book Bank Fair’ Inaugurated at SSSS College of Commerce for Women (August 05, 2025)

The Book Bank Fair was inaugurated by Director Sr. Jagdish ji and Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur on August 5, 2025, at SSSS College of Commerce for Women, as part of the college’s ongoing initiative ‘Saugaat’. Principal (Retired) Sr. Shamsher Singh Kahlon ji graced the event. The Book Bank is a regular program that provides academic support to deserving students, allowing them to borrow and exchange books. A total of 483 students exchanged the books. Almost 600 people including the students and faculty members were a part of the event.

To reach a broader group of students, the college organizes the Book Bank Fair once a year under the Saugaat project. This special event allows students to access a wide range of books—completely free of cost—covering subjects such as Commerce, Economics, Management, Computer Science, English, Punjabi, and Hindi Literature, as well as Religion, Spirituality, and resources for competitive exams.

Promoting the spirit of generosity and knowledge-sharing, students are encouraged to bring a book of their own and, in return, select any book of their choice from the Book Bank. This unique initiative not only helps students academically but also fosters a culture of sharing and community learning. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Simranjeet Kaur and Mrs. Monica Chhabra.

“Promoting Women’s Health and Hygiene: Sampling Activity by Unicharm Group” (August 05, 2025)

Unicharm Group organized a sample distribution activity at SSSS College of Commerce for Women on August 5, 2025, promoting awareness about women’s health and sanitation hygiene. Over 800 female students received free samples, making it a significant sensitization effort on campus.

Session on “Innovations & StartUps: Cultivating Mindsets for Entrepreneurship” (August 8, 2025)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, organized a session on “Innovations & StartUps: Cultivating Mindset for Entrepreneurship” on August 8, 2025, in line with AICTE guidelines. Resource person Mrs. Monica Chhabra, Assistant Professor in Commerce, conducted the session. The session aimed to equip students with the knowledge and tools needed, to inculcate entrepreneurial thinking and to encourage a shift from a placement-centric approach to one that embraces innovation and self-driven ventures. About 120 students of the college participated in the session. Students gained valuable insights regarding business innovations, barriers with their solutions, Government Schemes for Startups and identifying unmet customer needs, through case studies.  Students found the session highly informative and engaging.

Anti-Ragging Day (August 12, 2025)

As per UGC directives, SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar observed Anti-Ragging Day on August 12, 2025. Mrs. Natasha Mahajan, Assistant Professor in Commerce, conducted an open house discussion on the theme ‘Live with Integrity, Lead with Purpose’. This awareness session aimed to mentor the new batch students regarding the importance of a ragging-free campus, to promote a safe, respectful and supportive campus environment. Students talked about need to understand the purpose of life, understanding the moral, social and ethical values, how to come out from the dilemma situations, making a rapport with juniors, becoming kind and patience, having trust on the self, accepting the varied perceptions and serving the mankind. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur appreciated students’ heartfelt real ideas and encouraged the students to explore for better comprehension, lead the life with integrity and promoting the community welfare. Be the part of the solution rather than becoming the part of the problem. During the session students also discussed how indisciplined activities may cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or raise fear to anyone.

Reflecting, reviewing and revising were the key takeaways of the session.

About 60 students of the college participated in the session. Students found the session highly informative and engaging. Mrs. Natasha Mahajan and Ms. Kawaljit Kaur coordinated the session successfully.

Dress Competition 2025 organized by Guru Nanak Dev University (August 12, 2025)

The students of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, participated in the Dress Competition 2025 organized by Guru Nanak Dev University on August 12, 2025. The primary objective of this competition was to identify a suitable dress code for the 50th convocation to be held in November 2025 that would represent the spirit of Punjab, Punjabi Culture and Punjabiyat. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 25 affiliated colleges, fostering creativity and competitive spirit. Two students from our college, Ms. Gurkiran Kaur and Ms. Jasmeen Kaur participated in the event and made the college proud by securing third position. The participation of our students in this University level competition provided them with an opportunity to enhance their cultural awareness and creative expression.

Workshop on the theme ‘Design Like a Pro: Canva Basics & AI Magic’ (August 13 and August 14, 2025)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized a workshop on August 13, 2025, on the theme “Design Like a Pro: Canva Basics & AI Magic”. The session aimed to introduce participants to Canva’s features and capabilities for graphic design and content creation.

The resource persons — Ms. Anchal, Mr. Jaskaran Singh (Digital Marketing Managers), and Ms. Suruchi — guided participants through account creation, navigating templates, and exploring versatile design elements. Attendees engaged in hands-on activities to create posters and videos with effects, while also learning about colour psychology and design principles such as CRAP. The workshop highlighted Canva’s user-friendly interface and its potential for both personal and professional use.

81 students, 12 teaching, and 3 non-teaching faculty members attended. The interactive session addressed participants’ queries and provided practical skills relevant in today’s AI-driven world. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur stated that such workshops are important for making students opportunity ready. The event was coordinated successfully by Dr. Samriti Kapoor and Ms. Riya.

Intra College Debate and Declamation Contest on Independence Day (August 14, 2025)

NSS and the Red Ribbon Club in collaboration with the Spark and Speaker’s Committee of S.S.S.S. College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, organized a debate and declamation contest on August 14, 2025, to celebrate Independence Day. The allowed students reflected on and articulated their views on the Independent India over the past 78 years.

A total of 19 students from various courses participated, showcasing their oratory skills on topics related to patriotism. The event was judged by professors of SSSS College of Commerce and Allied Studies, Mrs. Khushi Kapoor (Assistant Professor of English), Mr. Akashbir Singh (Assistant Professor of Punjabi), and Ms. Sukhvinder Kaur (Alumni of SSSS College of Commerce for Women currently serving as IPDRR and Director (events) Rotary International District Events). Director S. Jagdish Singh Ji congratulated everyone on the joyous occasion, while Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur addressed the students, offering valuable insights on Consumerism, mindless imitation, fear of judgement, immersion into the digital world and the mindset of avoiding discomfort.

Ruhani Nanda (B.Com-2) and Arpita (B.Com-1) secured the first position in the debate. Ridhima (B.CA – 2) won the first prize and Unique Kaur (B.Com FS- 2) won the second prize, and Manvi (B.Com- 3) earned the third position. Navroop (11th class) and Jaspreet Kaur (B. Com -2) received a consolation prize in declamation contest.

Ms. Deepika Khanna and Dr. Jaspinder the conductor of the event, congratulated all winners for their thought-provoking contributions. Mrs. Dilpreet Kaur and Ms. Mamta Arora coordinated the entire event.

Financial Literacy Workshop ‘Kona Kona Shiksha’ empowering young women through financial education in collaboration with SEBI and NISM (August 19, 2025 and August 20, 2025)

SSSS College Hosts Two-Day Financial Literacy Workshop ‘Kona Kona Shiksha’empowering young women through financial education in collaboration with SEBI and NISM Amritsar, August 20, 2025 – SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized a two-day Financial Literacy Workshop, “Kona Kona Shiksha,” on August 19–20, 2025, in collaboration with the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). A total of 86 final-year and postgraduate commerce students participated.

Dr. Jaswinder Kaur, Associate Company Secretary and Head of the PG Department of Commerce, Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women, served as the resource person. She guided students on personal finance, investment avenues, IPOs, mutual funds, demat accounts, and strategies to avoid financial frauds, while also highlighting career opportunities in the financial sector.

Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur, in her address, stressed the need to overcome stereotypes about women and financial wisdom, urging students to take informed financial decisions. She highly appreciated the Co ordinator Dr Samriti Kapoor and Co-Cordinators Dr Payal and Mrs Priyanka Sharma for the successful conduct of the event and presented a token of gratitude to the resource person.

33rd Foundation Day (September 01, 2025)

Sant Singh Sukha Singh (SSSS) College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar celebrated its 33rd Foundation Day on September 1, 2025, with great devotion and enthusiasm.

As per tradition, a Bhog ceremony of the Sehaj Path was held, where staff and students recited Gurbani with spiritual fervour. Students also performed Ardas and recited the Hukamnama, creating a peaceful and devotional atmosphere.

Director S. Jagdish Singh Ji addressed the gathering, inspiring students by reflecting on the college’s 33-year journey of dedication and perseverance. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur congratulated students and faculty, highlighting the college’s transformation into a benchmark of excellence in commerce education for young women. She also emphasized the importance of skill development and professional courses offered by the institution.

Winners of quiz, debate, and declamation competitions were honoured with certificates and prizes. Students who scored above 90% in Class 12, along with Gurmat Sewa volunteers, received special recognition.

The event was graced by the presence of Sardarni Swaran Kaur ji and other S.S.S.S. institution heads, including Mrs. Savita Khanna and S. Gurpreet , who extended their best wishes.

Virtual Session (September 05, 2025)

Teacher’s Day gifted us a moment of pure joy—reconnecting with one of the earliest batches of our college through a virtual alumni meet.

What began as a simple interaction turned into an emotional reminder of why teaching is so special.

Our alumni taught us once again that:

  • Presence leaves lasting impressions.
  • Words can shape life-long directions.
  • Bonds built on respect outlive classrooms.
  • Teaching is always a two-way journey.

The greatest reward for a teacher is not just seeing students succeed, but knowing they carry forward the values and memories of their college. That is the true legacy of education.

Industrial Visit (September 16, 2025)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, organized an industrial visit to AOSC Technologies, Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar, on September 16, 2025. 32 students from M.Com and B.SC. Final years were accompanied by Mrs. Priyanka Sharma and Dr. Samriti Kapoor for the visit.
Mr. Prabhjeet Singh, Relationship and Marketing Manager, along with AOSC Technologies’ faculty, introduced students to new-age digital marketing skills and essential soft skills for a successful career. The session addressed student queries and provided insights into emerging trends in business intelligence.

The visit also shared information on internship opportunities, proving to be a valuable experience for the students. This exposure helped them:

  • Develop essential skills for the corporate world

Red Run Marathon 2025 (September 19, 2025)

Students and staff of SSSS College of Commerce for Women participated in the Red Run Marathon at GNDU, spreading awareness on AIDS and drug abuse. All participants received certificates of appreciation for their commitment to this cause.

Fine Arts Competition – Auditions (September 19, 2025)

The Sirjana Committee of SSSS College of Commerce for Women held a Fine Arts competition on September 19, 2025, in the college campus. Students participated enthusiastically in Poster Making, Painting, Sketching, Rangoli, and Mehndi.

The event, coordinated by Mrs. Monika Shahi and Mrs. Harpreet Kaur, showcased the creativity and talent of students. It also served as an audition to select participants for upcoming inter-college contests.

Goshti Session (September 20, 2025)

The Goshti Session was held on September 20, 2025, at 2:15 pm in Lafani, beginning with the blessings of the Almighty. Each faculty member picked a slip containing a question and responded spontaneously, reflecting on values deeply rooted within. Insights on faith, respect, courage, kindness, resilience, patience, simplicity, teaching as passion, and continuous learning were shared. Interestingly, the chosen themes resonated closely with each teacher’s personality, making the session a meaningful way to know ourselves and each other better.

An interactive session on Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum (EMC)

As per the directives of the Government of Punjab under the Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum (EMC), an interactive session on cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset was organised on September 25, 2025, for final-year students of B.Com, BBA, BCA, B.Com (FS), and M.Com at SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar.

The resource person, Mr. Mick Walvisch, Senior Expert from PUM, Netherlands, shared his insights on the Train the Trainer Program in collaboration with PUM. Drawing from over 60 years of experience, he emphasized innovation, teamwork, and confidence as key drivers of entrepreneurial success. He urged students to embrace communication skills, modern marketing tools, and the need for “Next Generation Incubators” to keep pace with changing times.

Twelve student teams presented business ideas ranging from home bakeries and herbal products to digital marketing and salons. Mr. Walvisch encouraged students to refine these ideas with faculty mentorship. He also shared his spiritual experience of visiting the Golden Temple, calling it a source of peace and clarity.

The session was coordinated by Dr. Rajdeep Sohal, Coordinator, Golden Jubilee Centre of Entrepreneurship, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, along with Mrs. Priyanka and Mrs. Monika Chhabra the members from college faculty. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur honoured the guest with a token of gratitude.

NSS Day  (September 27, 2025)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar celebrated NSS Day on September 27, 2025, with zeal and enthusiasm. The NSS unit of the college, established in 1995, has been nurturing the spirit of service and social responsibility among students. The National Service Scheme (NSS), launched in 1969 under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, stands by the motto “Not Me but You.”

Guided by nodal officers Mrs. Dilpreet Kaur and Ms. Mamta Arora, the college NSS unit has organized initiatives such as reducing plastic usage, conserving water, plantation drives, and environmental awareness campaigns. On this occasion, students staged a thought-provoking Nukkad Natak titled ‘Pani de Veg, Manukhi Hausle’. The play depicted the stark contrast between rural and urban Punjab, focusing on issues like loss of farmland, destruction caused by floods, displacement of families, and the struggles of marginalized communities. It emphasized human exploitation of nature and its consequences.

Vice Principal Dr. Payal motivated students to adopt small but effective steps toward environmental protection, making the NSS Day celebration inspiring and impactful.

Annual Cultural Programme ‘Expressions’ (September 29, 2025)

The students of S.S.S.S. College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, organised their annual cultural programme ‘Expressions’ at Vidyak Bhawan, Batala Road, Amritsar, on September 29, 2025.

The event was graced by Honourable Director S. Jagdish Singh Ji, Madam Director Smt. Swaran Kaur Ji, Additional Director S. Manmohan Singh, and Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur. Principals of other S.S.S.S. institutions also joined the celebrations.

The cultural programme was a magnificent display of talent, featuring Sufi, folk, Arabic, and contemporary dances, soulful duet and group singing, a thought-provoking skit “Mera Naam Maya Hai”, and poetry recitations. The performances were both mesmerizing and meaningful.

Meritorious students of the college—Charanpreet Kaur, Sneha Mahajan, Prachi Mahajan, Alina Singh, Amandeep Kaur, and Manvi—were honoured with medals for securing top positions in the Guru Nanak Dev University examinations.

In his address, the Honourable Director lauded the students and teachers for their efforts and blessed the young achievers. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur praised the dedication behind the performances and urged students to embrace challenges that may seem ordinary but lead to great results. She also congratulated the toppers and the faculty for the programme’s success.

Expressions 2025 stood out as a vibrant celebration of creativity, excellence, and youthful spirit.

Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women Hosts 5th Installation Ceremony (October 15, 2025)

The Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, held its Fifth Installation Ceremony with great enthusiasm and dignity.

DRR Rtr. Deepanshu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Installation Officer, while Rtr. Srishti Sadana and Rtr. Jaskaran Kaur attended as Guests of Honour. Rtr. Damanpreet Singh and Eternal Advisor Rtr. Sukhpinder Kaur also marked their esteemed presence.

During the ceremony, Diksha Mahajan (B.Com V) was installed as President, and Tanvi Mahajan (B.Sc V) took charge as Secretary. The collaring ceremony was followed by the presentation of 17 badges and certificates to the newly appointed office bearers. The club’s Annual Report (2024–2025) highlighted several milestones, including eleven awards at the District 3070 Ceremony ‘Shukran’.

In his address, DRR Rtr. Deepanshu stressed the importance of teamwork, innovation, and global outreach, urging members to initiate community-impact projects such as waste management and clothing drives.

Director S. Jagdish Singh Ji reflected on the rich legacy of Rotary in Amritsar since 1933, inspiring students to translate ideas into meaningful action.

Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur remarked that “Leadership is not defined by position but by participation,” encouraging every member to contribute wholeheartedly to club initiatives.

The programme was meticulously coordinated by Dr. Samriti Kapoor and Mrs. Natasha Mahajan. A vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Samriti Kapoor, concluding the event on a note of unity, compassion, and service.

This Diwali, SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, lit up not just with lights and music — but with love, unity and compassion.

 Project Roshni 2025 – Spreading Light Beyond Campus

Under the “Service to Others” initiative, the Rotaract Club organized Project Roshni 2025 and celebrated Diwali with the students of GGSSS M.S. Gate, Shivala Road, Amritsar.

Rotaractors interacted with Class 6 students through stories, songs and joyful conversations.

Eatables were distributed as festive tokens of love.

Led by Mrs. Natasha Mahajan and Ms. Mamta Arora, the initiative reflected the college’s commitment to empathy and social responsibility.

Open Dance Program – A Burst of Festive Energy on Campus

Back on campus, the Student Council organized an Open Dance Program on October 18, 2025.

Students showcased traditional and Bollywood performances, turning the campus into a vibrant celebration arena.

The Rotaract Club extended kindness on campus as well by distributing eatables to those in need.

Adding a personal touch, teachers shared home-cooked food with all staff members — a beautiful gesture of warmth and togetherness.

At SSSS College, Diwali is not just celebrated — it is shared.

Career Counseling Session at Alexandra School (October 27, 2025)

To guide students towards informed career choices, SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized a Career Counseling Session for Grade 12 students of Alexandra School on October 27, 2025. The session, attended by students from commerce and non-medical streams, aimed to provide valuable insights into various career paths and course options.

The resource persons for the session were Dr. Samriti Kapoor, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, Mrs. Ravneet Arora, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, and Mrs. Ashmeet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science.

During the session, the students were apprised about different career options based on their skills, interests, and aptitudes. They were also informed about the Annual Inter-School Competition BATSE (Business Accounting and Talent Search Examination) to be organized by the college.

The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating and seeking clarifications on various aspects of career planning. The resource persons handled the queries of the students with great aplomb, providing them with expert guidance and advice.

The session proved to be highly beneficial for the students, providing them with a clearer understanding of their career options and the opportunities available to them.The Career Counseling session was coordinated by Dr. Samriti Kapoor.

French Language Course (October 30, 2025)

An interactive session was held for students who opted for the French Language Course. Director S.Jagdish Singh engaged the students in a brief discussion to assess their genuine interest and seriousness towards learning the language. Many enthusiastic students eagerly raised their hands, expressing their strong desire to learn French.

Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur and Dr. Robin were also present on the occasion. The session was coordinated by Ms Deepika Khanna.

Prakash Purab of Guru Ram Das Ji with Devotion and Reverence (November 1, 2025)

The campus of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, resonated with divine spirit as the institution celebrated the Prakash Purab of Guru Ram Das Ji, the fourth Sikh Guru and founder of Amritsar, with deep reverence and joy.

The celebration began with the recitation of Japji Sahib Path followed by Shabad Kirtan, creating a serene spiritual ambience. Students shared reflections on the timeless relevance of Guru Ram Das Ji’s Baani and presented a heartfelt poem commemorating 350 years of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom. A special Langar was also organized, embodying the spirit of Seva and equality.

Outstanding students who secured top positions in elocution and debate competitions at the GNDU Youth Festival 2025 were felicitated, along with those who participated in Shabad recitation, Ardas, and Hukamnama. Faculty mentors and staff contributors were also honoured.

In his address, S. Jagdish Singh, Director, highlighted the timeless ideals of humility, patience, and self-control exemplified by Guru Ram Das Ji and traced the institution’s inspiring journey. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal, urged students to pursue academic excellence with sincerity and self-reflection, noting that quiet contemplation after such events reflects true spiritual absorption.

The event, graced by principals and dignitaries from sister institutions, radiated unity, devotion, and gratitude. It was meticulously coordinated by Dr. Payal, Mrs. Isha, and Ms. Harpreet Uppal, reflecting the enduring message of service and humility taught by Guru Ram Das Ji.

Seminar on ‘Cervical Cancer Prevention’ (November 06, 2025)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, organized a seminar on ‘Cervical Cancer Prevention’ on November 6, 2025, at Rose Villa, the College Hall. The session was conducted by a four-member team from NGO Phulkari, Amritsar- Ms. Gaytari Khanna, Ms. Priyanka Goyal, Ms. Sheetal Sohal, and Dr. Hitika.

The speakers highlighted the causes, warning signs, and preventive measures of cervical cancer, stressing the importance of early detection, vaccination, and regular screening. They urged students to become “warriors of awareness” and promote health education in their communities.

Director S. Jagdish Singh Ji and Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur appreciated the efforts of NGO Phulkari for spreading awareness among students and faculty. The seminar was attended by about 100 students and coordinated by Dr. Samriti Kapoor and Mrs. Natasha Mahajan.

Social Internship Program (SIP-1) Training Camp (November 6, 2025)

A Social Internship Program (SIP-1) Training Camp was organized at Hindu College, Amritsar, on November 6, 2025, under the initiative Paryavaran Sanrakshan Gatividhi (Haryawal Punjab). The camp aimed to create awareness among students and teachers about environmental protection and social responsibility.

From our college Ms. Kawaljit Kaur (Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science), Ms. Jobanpreet Kaur (Assistant Professor, Department of EVS) and two students of B.Sc. Semester III attended the program. The sessions included informative talks on water conservation, tree plantation, and the importance of nurturing already planted trees. Resource persons emphasized the need for sustainable living, pollution control, and community participation in eco-friendly practices.

The program proved to be highly inspiring and educational, motivating participants to contribute actively towards environmental preservation and to take initiatives that support a cleaner and greener planet.

Bibi Raj Devi Diwas devoted to Punjabi language (November 10, 2025)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar celebrated Bibi Raj Devi Diwas, devoted to Punjabi language, with great enthusiasm on 10 November, 2025. Students reflected on the life and work of Bibi Raj Devi ji, wife of S.Sant Singh Ji, who made a significant contribution to girls’ education. Students  also recited self composed poems and folk songs that resonated with the cultural heritage of Punjab.  Director S. Jagdish Singh Ji acknowledged the remarkable contribution of  Bibi Raj Devi Ji in promoting the girls’ education. He further reflected on the Singh Sabha Movement, and cultural and historical significance of the Punjabi language. Beauty of Punjabi Language is its purity, uniqueness in pronunciation and script. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur while reflecting on the life of Bibi Raj Devi talked about her sacrifices for the social cause. She appreciated and encouraged students to carry forward the legacy of Punjabi Language at the global level.  Posters depicting the calligraphy and exquisite handwriting of students were also displayed on this occasion.   Ms. Simranjeet Kaur, Assistant Professor in Computer, presented the paper ‘Technology & Punjabi Language’ indicating career opportunities in Punjabi language in the era of AI. Mrs. Maninder Kaur and Dr. Jaspinder Kaur coordinated the programme successfully.

FDP on Digital Design Tools (November 24, 2025)

The SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized a FDP on ‘Digital Design Tools’ on 24th November, 2025 in collaboration with Shakti Tech. The resource person, Ms. Anchal, digital skill expert along with her team introduced the faculty to platforms like Canva and demonstrated how digital tools can transform teaching materials into engaging and visually appealing resources. She also highlighted the usefulness of AI applications such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Copilot in enhancing research, content creation, and productivity for educators. Her clear explanations and hands-on demonstrations helped faculty members understand the growing importance of digital design and basic video editing in today’s academic environment.

She encouraged the staff to upgrade their digital skills, emphasizing that using such tools is now essential for effective teaching and communication. Through interactive activities and practical examples, she ensured that the faculty gained confidence in applying these tools for presentations, worksheets, and student engagement. The workshop was well-received and proved highly beneficial. The event was smoothly coordinated by Dr. Samriti Kapoor and Ms. Prabhpreet Kaur, whose efforts contributed to its successful execution.

Celebration of Constitution Day (November 26, 2025)

To celebrate Constitution Day, the Rotaract Club of Presidency College Chennai organized an interactive webinar in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce, Amritsar . The session aimed to deepen understanding of the Indian Constitution, focusing on its structure, significance and its role in ensuring justice and equality for all citizens.

The guest speaker  Rtr. J. Sheniga Sarkar (International Service Director, Rotaract Club of Presidency College, Chennai), delivered insightful thoughts on the making and importance of the Constitution of India. He also highlighted key constitutional values such as liberty, fraternity and democracy.

 Principal Dr. Payal appreciated the active involvement and curiosity of the participants for their enthusiastic participation in such sessions.

World AIDS Day Report (December 01, 2025)

The NSS and Red Ribbon Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized a seminar on World AIDS Day. Ms. Joban Preet Kaur, Assistant Professor, delivered an insightful session to first-year students, covering:

  • What is AIDS and its causes
  • Prevention methods
  • Treatment and medications
  • Breaking the stigma around AIDS

The event was coordinated by Mrs. Dilpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor. The session aimed to spread awareness and educate students about AIDS.

Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women collaborated with Rotary Club Amritsar Central in organizing Mega Free Medical Check-up Camp (December 03, 2025)

Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women collaborated with Rotary Club Amritsar Central in organizing Mega Free Medical Check-up Camp on November 30, 2025 at Company Garden, Amritsar. A team of Rotaractors led by Dr. Samriti Kapoor, Dr. Tina and Mrs. Natasha Mahajan played a pivotal role in the smooth conduct of the event. Witnessing huge participation of 720 citizens, the camp provided health services, like blood tests,dental checkup, eye checkup, orthopedic and pediatric services and distribution of free medicines. The contribution of young Rotaract students was well recognised by Sr. Deputy Mayor Priyanka Sharma, DGE Anil Singhal, PDg Dr P S Grover, President Rajiv Kapoor, Club Chairman Rakesh Kapoor, AG Aman Deep Singh and Members of Rotary Club Amritsar Central.

Goshti Session (December 20, 2025)

Goshti session was held on December 20, 2025 in the College Hall Lafani. Ms Shagun, Assistant Professor in Computer Sciences, reviewed and talked about the book ‘Ikigai-The Japanese Secret to A Long and Happy Life’. The book focuses on the fact that everyone has a reason for living. The author suggests to stay active, not be in a hurry, not fill the stomach, surround yourself with good friends, plan for the next birthday, keep smiling, connect with nature, be thankful, live in the present and not worry about the future. It conveys the message to have a strong sense of Ikigai and follow it in life.

Mrs Maninder Kaur, Assistant Professor in Punjabi, reviewed the book ‘Don’t believe everything you think’. The writer conveys that the sorrows of life are because of inner ideas rather than the outer happenings. Ideas and thoughts are different. Every thought is not true. Feel the emotions, as no emotion is good or bad. We feel peace when we do not make judgments.

Project Warmth 2025 (December 20, 2025)

The Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, recently organised Project Warmth 2025, distributing warm clothes to those in need. The initiative was successful, thanks to the efforts of the students and faculty to bring comfort to those in need.

Led by Dr. Tina Vohra and Mrs. Natasha Mahajan, the Rotaractors executed the project with love and care. Dr. Payal, Principal, congratulated the team and motivated them to keep up the good work.

National Mathematics Day (December 22, 2025)

On December 22, 2025, National Mathematics Day was celebrated at SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar. The day was celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. Students shared his contributions in the field of mathematics and the global impact of his discoveries. Video presentation on the life of Sir Ramanujan and the problems he solved was also shown. The event aimed to encourage students to engage with mathematics as a discipline that promotes scientific and logical inquiry. Students participated in the event with notable enthusiasm. Mrs. Neetu Vinod and Mrs. Honey coordinated the programme successfully.

One day FDP on ‘Using Interactive Display Board (January 07, 2026)

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized a one day FDP on ‘Using Interactive Display Board ‘ for teaching and non-teaching faculty members in Lafani on January 7, 2026. The resource person S. Harpreet Singh from Prodigy Technologies displayed the multiple-touch features of the interactive board for creating an engaging learning environment. The faculty also had hands-on experience. At the end of the session, the queries of the participants were also resolved. FDP was attended by around 30 participants. Mrs. Isha Arora coordinated the event successfully.

Lohri Celebration (January12, 2026)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women marked the festival of Lohri with vibrant enthusiasm on 12 January 2026, celebrating the spirit and richness of Punjabi culture. The campus came alive as students, adorned in traditional attire, showcased energetic folk dances and soulful music, creating an atmosphere of warmth and festivity.

Held under the able guidance of Director S. Jagdish Singh and Principal Dr. Payal Nanda, the celebration beautifully reflected the importance of cultural traditions while promoting togetherness, happiness, and a strong sense of community among students and staff.

Microsoft Power Platform Skill-Based Course (January 21, 2026)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar in collaboration with Alar Solutions LLP, a Microsoft Learning Partner offered a Microsoft Power Platform skill-based course starting October 9, 2025. The program aimed to equip students with industry-relevant digital competencies and enhance their practical learning experience. This online, self-paced course comprised two modules (Fundamentals and Advanced), with each to be completed within a semester of the students’ ongoing degree programs.

In the Fundamentals module, students gained hands-on experience with tools such as Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate, exploring their practical applications in business, automation, and data-driven decision-making.

Upon completing the first module, all 40 enrolled students of B.Com Sem-VI, BBA Sem-VI and BCA Sem-VI received e-certificates during an online session on January 21, 2026, led by Mr. Om Kanoujia, Founder of Alar Solutions LLP. This achievement enabled participants to strengthen their resumes and LinkedIn profiles. The entire course has been successfully coordinated and supervised by Ms. Gurleen Kaur, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science.

Career Counselling Session (January 21, 2026)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized “A Career Counselling Session” on January 21, 2026 for students of 10+2 Commerce. The session was aimed at guiding students about academic pathways and career opportunities after senior secondary education.

The programme began with an insightful address by Dr. Samriti, Assistant Professor in Commerce, who gave an elaborative overview of the various courses offered by the college and highlighted the wide scope and career opportunities available in the field of commerce after 10+2.

This was followed by Ms. Ravneet Arora, Assistant Professor in Economics, who provided valuable insights into career options in Economics. She discussed various options such as Research, Banking and Financial Services, Corporate Sectors and Academics, emphasizing how pursuing B.Sc. Economics can open diverse professional avenues.

Further, Mrs. Monika Shahi, Assistant Professor in Computers, guided the students about the career options available in the field of computers and explained their relevance in today’s technology-driven world.

The session concluded with an interactive question and answer round, where students actively participated and clarified their doubts regarding courses and career choices. Overall, the career counselling session proved to be highly informative and beneficial for the students, helping them gain clarity and confidence about their future academic and career decisions.

SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized a career counselling session on January 24, 2026, for Grade 12 students at Modern High School, Amritsar. The session aimed to guide students on academic pathways and career options after senior secondary education, helping them make informed decisions about their future.

Dr. Samriti Kapoor, Assistant Professor in Commerce, highlighted the various courses offered by the college and the career opportunities in Commerce in the areas of research, banking, and corporate sectors.

Ms. Ashmeet Kaur, Assistant Professor in Computer Science, discussed career options in Economics and Computer Science.

The interactive session helped students clarify doubts and gain confidence about their future academic and career decisions.

A Voters Day Pledge (January 24, 2026)

The NSS unit of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized a Voters Day Pledge program to promote voter awareness and encourage students to participate in the democratic process. During the event, students took a pledge to exercise their right to vote and to encourage others to do the same. The program highlighted the significance of voting and its impact on shaping the future of the country.

Orientation Session on “Mutual Fund Training and NISM Certification” (January 28, 2026)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, organized an orientation session on Mutual Fund Training and NISM Certification on January 28, 2026. Mr. S. Rana, Founder and Owner of Rana Investments; Certified Financial Planner; CNBC TV18 Financial Advisor and a Trainer of Financial Planning Academy, Mumbai was the resource person. The objective of the session was to provide orientation to the students of final year of B.Com with NISM-Series-V-A: Mutual Fund Distributors Certification Exam.

Principal Dr. Payal emphasized that these sessions are pivotal in fostering financial literacy among young women.

Around 90 students of the final year classes of the college participated and interacted during the session. Dr. Tina Vohra coordinated the session successfully.

National Youth Day and Republic Day (January 28, 2026)

The Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit of SSSS College celebrated National Youth Day and Republic Day on January 28, 2026. Three students of the college shared their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges that today’s youth is facing. Their reflections sparked a lively group discussion on issues like unemployment, retrenchments, and distractions from technology. The event was conducted by Ms. Gurleen Kaur, student of BBA final year and coordinated by Mrs. Dilpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor in Commerce.

 Business & Accounting Talent Search Examination Awards Ceremony (BATSE) (January 30, 2026)

Sant Singh Sukha Singh College of Commerce for Women, in collaboration with Sant Singh Sukha Singh College of Commerce and Allied Studies, Batala Road, organised the 5th Award Felicitation Ceremony on January 30, 2026, to honour the achievers of the Business and Accounting Talent Search Examination (BATSE). The examination was conducted on November 9, 2025, with enthusiastic participation from Class XII students of 24 schools across the city.

On this occasion, 303 meritorious students were honoured with certificates and trophies. Former IG-IPS and MLA Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh graced the programme as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Jasveen Kaur from the University Business School (GNDU) attended as the Guest of Honour.

While addressing the gathering, Director S. Jagdish Singh formally welcomed the dignitaries, congratulated the awardees on their achievements, and highlighted the importance of continuous learning throughout life. Principal Dr. Payal Nanda and Principal Mrs. Savita Khanna introduced the dignitaries. In his address, Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh motivated students by emphasizing holistic development as the foundation of success, the importance of tradition in institutional growth, and the values of honesty, sincerity, and originality in education. He further underscored the role of visionary leadership in shaping responsible citizens and contributing to national progress. Dr. Jasveen Kaur emphasised the significance of hard work and determination for personal and professional growth. 

The programme was enriched by captivating cultural performances presented by the college cultural team ‘Niralam’, which added vibrancy to the event.

Principal S. Gurpreet Singh and S. Dilbag Singh graced the occasion. Mrs. Ravneet Arora and Mrs. Harpreet Kaur successfully coordinated the entire event.

Screening of Film “Srishti Di Chadar” (January 31, 2026)

At Sant Singh Sukha Singh College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, a special screening of the film “Srishti Di Chadar” was organized for students of B.Com, BBA B.Com (Financial Services) and B.Sc 2nd semester under the guidance of Director S. Jagdish Singh Ji on January 31, 2026. The film vividly portrays the magnificent life, profound sacrifice, and selfless service to humanity of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

​The purpose of screening the film was to enable the students to have understanding of the historical backdrop of an era when religion, justice, and fundamental human rights were under severe assault. Through his life, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji disseminated the message of truth, tolerance, religious freedom and message of Universal Peace.

​Beyond providing historical insights, the film conveys and promotes the spirit of humanity and the well-being of all (Sarbat da Bhala).

Students said that the movie taught then to respect the faith and freedom of every individual. For students, this is a vital lesson in self-confidence: neither bully others nor submit to injustice. It encouraged them to stand firm in their principles.

In Teacher’s opinion, the legacy of ‘Srishti Di Chadar’ taught them that remaining silent in the face oppression against the weak is a sin. The movie empowered everyone to find the courage to speak up against social evils & systemic injustice.

Session on Intellectual Property Rights (February 02, 2026)

SSSS College of Commerce organized a session on ‘Intellectual Property Rights’. Dr. Avon Kumar Vaid, Principal, Amritsar Law College, Amritsar and a specialist in Laws related to Intellectual Property Rights was the resource person. He elaborated on the various types of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and laws related to them. Quoting real-life examples from the Law of Contract, Dr. Vaid, brought out the importance of Intellectual Property Rights in our day to day life. Dr. Payal, Principal, SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, praised the resource person for the abundant amount of knowledge he has in the field of law and Intellectual Property Rights.

80 students of the second year of B.Com participated in the interactive session. Dr. Tina Vohra coordinated the session successfully.

Business Quiz (February 03, 2026)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, successfully organized Business Quiz on February 3, 2026. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students of different courses. 

After a rigorous preliminary round, three teams advanced to the final quiz. The competition’s engaging format that included a series of diverse rounds like audio-visual round, rapid fire round, made it an interactive experience not only for the participants but also for the audience.

In a thrilling conclusion, the team A comprising students Ruhani Nanda (B.Com-IV B) and Aanchal (BCom-IV B), Bhoomika Gupta (BCom-IVA) emerged as the winner. Team B comprised the students Arshdeep Kaur (BBA-IV), Khushmeet Kaur (BBA-IV) and Harshita Arora (BBA-VI) whereas Team C comprised the students Gursimar Kaur (B.Com-VI (B)), Radhavi (B.Com (FS)-II) and Ridhi (B.Com (FS)-VI).

Jagdish Singh ji, Director appreciated the students for maintaining discipline and congratulated them on their enthusiasm. Principal Dr. Payal congratulated the winners. She further appreciated the students and faculty for their efforts to make the event a huge success.

Extension Activity: Guest Lecture on Enhancing IT Skills at Government Senior Secondary School (February 10, 2026)

A guest lecture was conducted at Government Senior Secondary School, Mahan Singh Gate, on February 10, 2026, for the students of Classes IX to XII with the objective of enhancing their IT skills.

For this lecture, two resource persons were invited from SSSS College of Commerce for Women. The lecture was organized in two sessions.

The first session, conducted for Class IX and X students, focused on Google and its applications. The session was delivered by Ms. Kawaljit Kaur, who explained the practical use of Google tools in academics.

The second session was organized for Class XI and XII students on the topic of Cyber Security. This session was conducted by Mrs. Ashmeet Kaur, who highlighted online safety, data protection, and responsible internet usage.

Overall, the session was informative and students participated actively.

The School Principal and Faculty expressed their sincere gratitude to the college administration for this endeavour and appreciated the efforts of the resource persons for delivering informative and engaging sessions.

E-BIZZ 2026 (February 10, 2026)

BBA Department of SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized and successfully conducted E-Bizz, a flagship event dedicated to bridging the gap between academic theory and the rapidly evolving digital marketplace on 10 February 2026 in college premises.

The event was centered around its core mission reflected in the tagline “Empowering  minds with digital skills for the e-business Era.”

Recognising that the future of commerce is digital, E-Bizz provided a platform for students to showcase their entrepreneurial spirit and technical proficiency vis-à-vis through role play, games, corporate walk and PPT.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of our Director S. Jagdish Singh and Principal Dr. Payal Nanda. Director Sir, in his inspiring address, praised the students for their simple, nice, knowledgeable and intelligent performance. He emphasized the role of the institution in grooming students for life, proudly noting that many alumni have scaled top positions globally and still maintain strong ties with the institution. He urged students to remain sincere, disciplined, and confident and to excel in everything regardless of the field.

Principal Mam commended the BBA Department for their initiative. Further in her address she said that success comes from replacing pressure with meticulous planning and a sense of gratitude for the work at hand. By finding meaning in every task and putting in 100 percent effort regardless of the reward, we can transform effort into joy.

The event was packed with various competitions and activities designed to test and enhance digital competencies.

E-Bizz wasn’t just a competition, it was a celebration of innovation.

The BBA Department’s seamless execution ensured that every participant walked away with a better understanding of the e-business landscape.
