TREES PLANTATION DRIVE

NSS Unit of SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized Tree Plantation activity on July 2, 2019. NSS Students planted six trees (Neem and Satpati) along the boundary wall of College Campus.

PERSONAL CONTACT PROGRAMME

 Personal Contact Programme was organised for the academic session 2019-20. The program was spread over a period of two days i.e. July 4 – July 5, 2019. The PCP faculty panel conducted meetings with new students on individual basis. The information pertaining to their educational, family background, interest, and aptitude and career goals is recorded. The program helps in gauging the requirements and aspirations of students.

SPECIAL MORNING ASSEMBLY

 A Special Assembly was organized on July 15, 2019 to invoke the blessings of Waheguru at the beginning of new session. The new students who have joined the college in the first year of various courses viz. B.Com; B.Com (F.S); BCA; BBA; B.Sc(Eco) and M.Com attended the recital of Sri Japji Sahib and Chaupai Sahib along with their seniors and members of the staff.

Thereafter, Ardas was intoned to seek strength and benedictions from the Almighty. S. Jagdish Singh Ji, Director welcomed the new students and motivated them to peruse quality education.

Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur acquainted the students about work culture of the college and also apprised them about the forthcoming events of the college.

AWARENESS CAMPS REGARDING JAL SHAKTI ABHIYAN

In pursuance of the guidelines issued by the central government, special sessions were organized in the college on July 22, 2019 to sensitize the students regarding conservation of water.

A seminar was conducted by Mrs Rupinder Kaur, Asst. Prof in Environment Sciences wherein she shared the data pertaining to ground water level in the state of Punjab and causes which led to this alarming state of affairs.

Similar talks were held in all the classes during the second period in the entire college and students were actively engaged in the discussions leading to some very simple and effective remedies to help us conserve water in daily life.

On the whole the message to conserve this precious natural resource reached more than 900 students in a very effective manner.

METRO BUS PASS FACILITY FOR STUDENTS

In order to provide public transport facility to the college students at affordable fare, officials from BRTS visited the college campus on July 15-16, 2019 and July 23, 2019. Mr. Rajesh Sharma, upper Divison Clerk (UDC) BRTS along with his team registered 42 students for monthly bus pass of Metro Bus. The students found this initiative highly beneficial. 

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVE: STREET PLAY ON WATER CONSERVATION

Keeping in the guidelines of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to observe the July 27, 2019 as Jal Shakti Abhiyan. A special street play (Nukkadd Natak ) Pani Ajj Udaas hai was staged. The play highlighted the sanctity of this precious natural resource essential for the existence of mankind .

The play was successful in pointing out the instances from the daily life of a household when lots of water gets wasted due to negligence.

135 Housewives from the neighbouring localities watched the play and were deeply moved by the powerful performance by the participants for a noble cause.

PARENTS TEACHERS MEET

Parents teachers meet was conducted on July 29, 2019 to brief the parents of the new students about the academic programs and the culture of the college. It was conducted in two sessions for the students of BBA, BCA, B.Sc. and B.Com (FS) in the first session and B.Com sections A and B in the second session. Dr. Navdeep Kaur Principal addressed the meet and presented an overview of the general rules and regular programs of the college aimed at holistic development of the students. She urged the parents to help develop a sense of responsibility in the young girls and support them by keeping confidence in their abilities. The students were also advised to put in sincere efforts to pursue their dreams.

The parents, particularly mothers of the students, attended the meet and appreciated this opportunity to know the learning environment of the college. 150 parents attended this meet and interacted with the faculty over a cup of tea.

SEMINAR ON ‘CAREER AS COMPANY SECRETARY’

A Career Counseling session was organized on July 30, 2019 to apprise the students about the professional course Company Secretary as a career option.

Mr Manish Kumar, Manager and Mr. Anjum Goyal, Chairperson, Amritsar Chapter of Institute of Company Secretaries of India made an elaborative presentation detailing the eligibility conditions, structure, curriculum and fee structure of the course. They pointed out that the course is very suitable for the graduates in Commerce or Business administration and ensures good placements in the corporate sector. Mrs. Priyanka Sharma and Dr. Payal coordinated the session and facilitated them clarify their doubts during the interactive session. 178 Students attended the session and found it very informative.

A BOOK DISCUSSION SESSION

A Book Discussion session on the book “Wings of Fire -An autobiography” was held on July 30, 2019 to mark the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Former President of India. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal briefed the students of B.Com final year about the life and thoughts of this great personality who was born in a small village in Tamil Nadu and rose to become President of India. She narrated a few inspirational incidents from the book depicting his early childhood and life in the village in 1930s. The students were motivated to read this book to learn more about this scientist President who always loved to interact with the youth.

REGISTRATION CAMP UNDER PMGDISHA

As per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, under the scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA)’, College organized a two-day registration camp on August 1 and August 2, 2019. This scheme aims at empowering the citizens in rural areas by training them to operate computer and other digital devices and enabling them to make digital payments actively. S. Iqbal Singh, Govt. representative and his team visited the College and 42 students belonging to rural areas were registered for digital training.

POSTER MAKING, COLLAGE MAKING AND PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

Poster Making, Collage Making and Photography Competition was organized in the College on August 14 and August 16, 2019 on the topics ‘Colors of India’ and ‘Unity in Diversity’ as a part of Independence Day celebrations. WORKSHOP ON ‘BASIC BANKING OPERATIONS’

A workshop on Basic Banking Operations was organized by the Department of Commerce and Business Administration on August 19, 2019. Mrs. Savita Khanna, Asst. Prof. in Commerce) explained the various kinds of forms used for opening the account, depositing money and withdrawal etc. 70 students of B.Com (Hons.) Sem-III and B.Com (Hons.) Sem-V and B.Com (Fin. Services) Sem-I attended this workshop.

 

VISIT TO IDFC FIRST BANK

A visit to IDFC First Bank, Mall Road Branch was organized for the students of M.Com Sem I on August 22, 2019. Two faculty Members- Dr. Payal and Dr. Samriti Kapoor from the PG Department of Commerce and Business Administration accompanied the students. Ms. Sumina Mohindru, Chief Manager and Ms. Heena Sethi, Senior officer IDFC First Bank apprised the students regarding back end functioning of the bank. They familiarized the students with the practical aspects of RTGS, NEFT and IMPS. The students were also provided tips regarding verification of cheques and currency notes.

 

VISIT TO MAHARAJA RANJIT SINGH PANORAMA

The students also visited Maharaja Ranjit Singh Panorama situated at Ram Bagh Garden, Amritsar. They got valuable insights into the rich culture, heritage, artefact’s and documentations of Maharaja’s Life. The students found both the visits highly enriching and useful.

 

SEMINAR ON ‘TRAFFIC RULES’

A seminar on ‘Importance of Traffic Rules’ was organized in the College on August 26, 2019. S. Dilbagh Singh, ADCP Traffic Police, Amritsar and S. Arvinderpal Singh, Incharge Traffic Education cell were the resource persons. They guided and apprised the students with the new traffic rules and penalties in case of their violation. They talked above the key qualities which every student must imbibe to become a responsible citizen and above all a good human being. 85 students of B.Com Sem I(A) and B.Sc Sem I attended the seminar. Students found the session highly inspiring and informative. The session was conducted by Mrs. Savita Khanna and Mrs. Ravneet Arora.

 

LIVE TELECAST OF ‘FIT INDIA MOVEMENT’

The NSS Unit of the College organized live telecast of ‘FIT INDIA MOVEMENT’ on August 29, 2019. This movement was launched as a part of National Sports Day celebrations at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated his speech by paying tribute to Major Dhyan Chand- the great Indian Hockey Player. He appealed every citizen to remain healthy and fit.

The event highlighted fitness regime by presenting India’s indigenous martial art forms, folk dances and sports activities. As a part of the movement initiated by showing the live telecast of the inaugural show, the College committed itself for the cause through the pledge ceremony. The pledge to make sports and fitness regime as part of life was administered to 104 participants of the session.

 

MOOC-LEARNING SKILLS OF TOMMORROW

Students of SSSS College of Commerce for Women joined various Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) to enhance their leaning and upgrade their skills as well. The courses were part of the Spoken Tutorial Project of IIT Bombay. After completion of their respective courses, students appeared in the test to get certification.

BHOG SEHAJ PATH SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI

As per the tradition Bhog of Sehaj Path was performed on September 1, 2019. The program started with the recital of Sri Japji Sahib and Chaupai Sahib. Students also chanted soulful hymns from Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Ardas was intoned to seek the blessings of Waheguru. S. Jagdish Singh, M. Director highlighted the relevance of the surrounding environment in shaping one’s personality. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal guided the students to prepare well for the forthcoming mid semester examination. Students and faculty members who performed Gurmat Seva were also honoured. 

 

SEMINAR ON ‘BANKING OPERATIONS AND SERVICES’ 

PG Department of the Commerce and Business Administration of the College organized a seminar on ‘Banking Operations and Services’ on September 3, 2019. A team comprising Mr. Vijay Thakur, Branch Manager, Mr. Rahul Gupta, Loan officer and Mrs. Payal, Bank Executive from Punjab and Sind Bank were the resource persons. The resource persons explained the various net banking operations and informed the students regarding the various safety tips which every person must keep in mind while making digital payments in order to prevent frauds. They also explained the procedure and documentation required for obtaining education and home loans. The students put their queries regarding various retail banking products and services which the experts handled satisfactorily. 185 students of B.Com Sem V, BBA Sem V, B.Com (Hons.) Sem III and B.Com (Hons.) Sem V attended the seminar and found it highly useful and informative.  

 

TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION

The NSS unit of the College celebrated the National Teachers’ Day on September 05, 2019 by presenting plants to the faculty members. The students presented saplings as a mark of respect for the honest endeavours the teachers make towards nurturing and educating the young women. Mrs. Savita Khanna, Nodel officer and Mrs. Rupinder Kaur co-ordinated the event. 

  

FRESHER’S DAY CELEBRATION

Fresher’s Day, the most eagerly awaited day from the day of admission by every student.  The day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Vidyak Bhavan Auditorium, SSSS Extension Campus, Mata Kaulan Marg to welcome the newcomers in a friendly atmosphere and to encourage them to showcase their talent, to create impulses and to boost up the confidence. The day was filled with excitement, joy, laughter, and happiness. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur welcomed the parents and acquainted the audience about the inception of the SSSS institution for the sake of ‘Punjabi and Punjabiyat’ in 1893 by S. Sant Singh Ji Shaheed. The day was dedicated to the celebration of 550th year of Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. His message to be truthful to self, to mankind and to the mother earth was depicted beautifully in the form of the stage show. Students through the musical choreography conveyed the message of judicious use of mobile phone. The standing ovation was given to the theatrical item showing the sacrifices of our soldiers.

Director S. Jagdish Singh, M. Director talked exclusively on the measures that the students should take to keep themselves healthy, to build the confidence, self-belief, and passion. He motivated all the students deriving incidents from his own personal life. The presence of the parents of the students with 100% attendance was acknowledged. He appreciated the potential of students and the Cultural Committee. Principal S. Gurpreet Singh, SSSS Modern High School and Mrs. Arvinder Kaur, Buds’ Charm graced the occasion with their presence.

 

DISCUSSION ON ‘SAY NO TO PLASTIC’ (Mrs. Rupinder Kaur, Mrs. Harman Kaur Students-15-20)

A discussion session was organized in the College on September 12, 2019 on the subject ‘Say No to Plastic’ to observe Swachhta Pakhwada. 80 students participated in the discussion. They shared their experiences and views regarding use and effects of plastic. They came up with different ideas to reduce the use of plastic. One of the students suggested the replacement of plastic sheet binding with cardboard binding.

 

DOCUMENTARY ON WATER CONSERVATION

A documentary on Conservation of Water named ‘Boond’ was shown to students of M.Com Sem III on September 13, 2019 to observe Jal Shakti Abhiyaan. The aim was to sensitize the students regarding judicious use of water. 

 

AWARENESS RALLY ON NSS DAY

On the occasion of NSS Day, NSS Unit of the College organized a rally on September 24, 2019 along Mall Road to spread awareness amongst public regarding use of cloth bags instead of Poly bags. The rally took a round of Mall road starts from SSSS Chowk. The volunteers carrying the banners with message encouraging the use of cloth bags instead of plastic bags were as successful in gaining public attention. The College authorities appreciated this initiative of the NSS unit with the guidance of Mrs. Savita Khanna and Mrs. Rupinder Kaur, Nodel officers to sensitize the general public regarding environment protection.

 

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ‘RESEARCH WRITING- A JOURNEY FROM UNKNOWN TO KNOWN’

IQAC of the College organised a Faculty Development Programme titled ‘Research Writing: A Journey from unknown to known’ in the Lafani Hall on October 1, 2019. Faculty members: Dr. Payal, Department of Commerce and Business Administration and Dr. Moninder Kaur, Department of economics acted as resource person. Dr. Moninder Kaur elaborated the concept of research, its process and also highlighted the importance of literature review in framing the objectives. Further, Dr. Payal provided an insight into the research design and methodology. She also discussed about type of data, statistical tools and techniques that could be used in writing a research papers. She emphasized on avoiding plagiarism being an academic dishonestly. The faculty members found this lecture highly informative and experienced their gratefulness towards the organisers. 

 

WORKSHOP ON CAREER AWARENESS CUM QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE FOUNDATION

Department of Commerce and Business Administration of the College in Collaboration with TIME Institute, Amritsar organized a three days workshop on ‘Career Awareness cum Quantitative Aptitude Foundation’ from October 3, 2019 to October 5, 2019. The workshop comprised three session’s viz. Numerical Abilities, Vedic Mathematics and
A special session for MBA/MCA aspirants. The resource person Mr. Sushil Mishra, Centre Manager, TIME institute explained the various techniques to enhance the quantitative abilities needed for various online employment tests.

On the last day, a special career counseling session was conducted by Mr. Rajnesh Tripathi, where he informed the students about career options available to them after graduation/ post-graduation. 50 students from M.Com, B.Com, BBA, BCA and BSc.(Eco) attended the workshop. They found the workshop highly informative and useful.

 

AWARENESS REGARDING STUBBLE BURNING

On October 4, 2019, NSS Volunteers visited the villages to spread awareness against the harmful effects of Paddy burning. Students visited the villages namely Mudhal, Muradpura, Verka, Mirakot Kalan and Sachander. They encouraged and educated the farmers to adopt the new techniques to cut and lift the crop stubble.

 

BUSINESS QUIZ

Business Quiz was organised by the Department of Commerce and Business Administration of the College on October 9, 2019 to assess the business acumen and general knowledge of the students in various fields viz. Commerce, politics, sports and infotainment. Three teams participated in the quiz comprising of three students in each team. More than 100 students appeared in preliminary round held in September 6, 2019 out of which 9 students were shortlisted for the quiz. 210 students of the attended the Business quiz.

Director S. Jagdish Singh urged the students to utilize their time and knowledge in judicious manner. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal appreciated the performance of students in visual rounds and encouraged them to keep updating their knowledge to enhance their competence for various employment opportunities.

Upinderjit Kaur (B.Com Sem III), Lakshmi (BBA Sem III) and Laxmi (B.Com Sem III) were declared as the winners of Business Quiz.

 

INDUSTRIAL VISIT 

An industrial visit to Verka Milk Plant, Amritsar was organized on October 17, 2019 for the students of B.Com (Fin. Services) Sem–I, B.Com Sem–V, M.Com Sem–I and III. A group of 84 students accompanied by 5 faculty members – Mrs. Jaskiranjit Kaur, Mrs. Dilpreet Kaur and Ms. Harleen (Department of Commerce), Ms. Maninder Kaur (Department of Punjabi) and Mr. Gopal Krishan (Office Supdt.) visited the plant. S. Satkiratpal Singh (Trainee at Verka Milk Plant), S. Prabhsarn Singh (Trainee at Verka Milk Plant) and Mrs. Jaspreet Kaur (Junior Executive at Verka Milk Plant) were the resource persons who demonstrated and elaborated the students the working of different machines related to filtration, processing and packaging of milk and related products.

 

SEMINAR ON AIDS AWARENESS

SSSS College of Commerce for women organized a seminar on ‘AIDS Awareness’ on October 19, 2019 under the Red Ribbon Club of the College. The resource person Dr. Savita Sharma, Medial officer, HIV Dept., Medical College, Amritsar held a discussion with the girl students regarding the increasing incidence of the disease and the psychological factors leading to the vulnerability of the young women towards this disease. She motivated the students to sensitize others regarding drug abuse and HIV/AIDS. Dr. Navdeep Kaur highly appreciated the discourse delivered by Dr. Savita and emphasize the relevance of the issue for educating the young women for life. Students from B.Sc(Eco), BCA and BBA Semester I attended the session. Ms. Saranpreet Kaur of B.Com (F.S) Sem-I extended the vote of thanks to the resource person. adr. Savita Sharma was also presented with a set of books as a token of gratitude. Mrs. Savita Khanna Co-ordinated the event.

 

SEMINAR ON ROLE AND NEED OF MOOC’s

A Seminar on Role and need of MOOC Courses was organized by Department of Computer Science on October 22, 2019 in Rose Villa Hall of the College. Dr. Manik Sharma, Assistant Professor, DAV University, Jalandhar acted as the resource person. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal welcomed the guest. She highlighted the relevance of Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) in enhancing skills of students. She also emphasized the role of MOOC Courses in bridging the gap between traditional education and world class education. Dr. Manik Sharma, discussed major and critical aspects of MOOC viz subject selection, courses, direction, subject filters and exam date. He also threw light on certain limitations of online courses. The students found this seminar highly informative and enriching. S. Jagdish Singh, M. Director and Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal along with Mrs. Pooja Monga, Head, Department of Computer Science presented the replica of Sri Darbar Sahib to Dr. Manik Sharma.

 

VISIT TO IBADAT

As a part of Community Linkage program a group comprising of 15 students and 6 members of faculty visited ‘Ibadat –A School for Special children’ on October 24, 2019. Various handmade Lanterns, Diyas and Jute cloth bags made by the students of the school were exhibited on the occasion of Diwali festival. The faculty and the students of the College purchased various items displayed in the exhibition. 

 

DIWALI CELEBRATION

Diwali Fest was celebrated in the college on October 26, 2019 with full zeal and fervour. The beats of music and colours of rangoli filled the atmosphere with festive spirit. The sumptous treat of a variety of food items and milk shakes was the special attraction of the event. The students danced to the popular numbers. The food stalls offered a variety of snacks and sweets. The students in their colourful attire were seen posing for photos with their friends all over the campus making it a memorable event for their college life.

 

LIBRARY MELA

A book exhibition was organized by the library during the month of October 2019 with the aim to highlight the rich collection of reference books and latest addition in each subject line. The exhibition was spread over 10 days and books from two to three subjects were displayed each day. The students were informed regarding the schedule of the exhibition and were invited to attend the library sessions class wise where they were offered opportunity to glance over the wide range of titles available in various areas. The subject experts were also available to guide the interested students for checking on the books of their individual interests. The students showed good interest in books of their core subjects and found this event interesting and enriching.

 

GURPURAB CELEBRATIONS

Parkash Purab of Guru Ram Das Ji and the 27th Foundation Day of College was observed at SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar on Friday, November 01, 2019 with great enthusiasm and devotion. Students recited poems, hymns and Ardas followed by Hukamnama from Sri Guru Granth Sahib. The entire atmosphere vibrated with the divine musical notes and spiritual fervor.

Jagdish Singh Ji, Director, reflected on life, legacy, philosophy and directives of the Guru Sahib and asked Sangat to absorb the qualities of selfless-service, devotion and follow virtuous path shown by the Guru Sahib.

Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal thanked one and all for their presence and respective contribution for the successful conduct of the event. She urged the students to illuminate themselves with knowledge & spread the same for the well-being of everyone around.

The glorious achievement of the College during its 26 years of meaningful existence were lauded and the young achievers of the College in various fields in academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular were honoured. “Guru Ka Langar” was served and savoured lovingly by one and all.

YOUTH FESTIVAL

BIBI RAJ DEVI DIWAS

SSSS Group of Schools and Colleges organized a function on November 9, 2019 to commemorate Bibi RajDevi, wife of S. Sant Singh, the founder of the SSSS group of Institutes. S. Jagdish Singh, Director of the institutions in his welcome address eulogized Bibi Raj Devi’s sacrifice in the field of education and encouraged all to take inspiration of truthfulness from her struggle of life.

Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal, SSSS College of Commerce for Women briefed about the drama ‘Journey of a Soul’ ‘Aa Wajood Cho Baahar Aa’ enacted by the College theater group Niralam. The play written and directed by Ms. Kiran of Punjabi Department was artistically enacted by the students and the staff of the College. The audience comprising the entire faculty of SSSS group of Schools and Colleges and a few students were mesmerized by the heart touching performance of the entire team. Ms. Kiran Bala and all the members of the performing team as well as the back stage artist were honoured by the College authorities. 

 

MULTIMEDIA EXHIBITION

NSS volunteers visited an exhibition at PITEX ground, Ranjit Avenue organized by District Nodal officer, Mrs. Rekha Mahajan to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on November 10, 2019. Members of the Faculty along with the students got the opportunity to have a glance upon the wonderful paintings depicting the life and teaching of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The artifacts, handicrafts made my Pingalwar Charitasle Society and various NGOs were also in disply. The students also attended the Shabad Kirtan and Dastar Bandi Programme.

 

 JAL BACHAO SANKALP

Under the special Mission ‘Jal Bachao Sankalp’ been undertaken by Vidya Bharti, An NGO to Commemorate the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a seminar was organised at the College on November 16, 2019. A special talk was given by the experts highlighting the urgent need to conserve this most precious life giving resource. ‘Save Water’ resolve was administered to the students, faculty and support staff. It is pertinent to mention that the College had been holding similar functions in the past too where parents and students were motivated for water conservation. This event was co-ordinated by Mrs. Savita Khanna (Nodal Officer, NSS Unit) and Ms. Kiran Bala, Assistant Professor.

 

DEMONSTRATION SESSION ON LAUNCH VEHICLES OF ISRO

A demonstration session on ‘Launch Vehicles- Space transportation System of ISRO’ was held by Indian Space Research Organization at SSSS Extension Campus, Mata Kaulan Marg on December 11 and 12, 2019. Mr. Himanshu Singh, Scientist/ Engineer-SC, Mr. Akash Dang, Scientist/ Electronics and Communication Engineer acquainted the students with ISRO launch Pads, its various missions, Navigation and Remote sensing technology at ISRO etc. The students from SSSS College of Commerce for Women also visited the education session being held along with their teachers and got highly valuable information on India’s space missions.

 

NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY

National Mathematics Day was celebrated in the College on December 24, 2019 in the memory of Srinivasa Ramanujan, the great Indian Mathematician. Mrs. Vijaylaxmi and Mrs. Mankiran Kaur from the department of Mathematics showed presentations to the students depicting the early life and professional achievements of this legendary mathematician. The speakers highlighted the role of Mathematician in various disciplines and urged the students to follow the pursuit of this magnificent field of study in a passionate way.

 

SEVEN DAYS NSS CAMP

In winter break, NSS Unit of  SSSS College of Commerce For Women, The Mall, Amritsar organised 7 days NSS Camp from December 23,2019 to December 29,2019.  50 Students from graduate & postgraduate classes participated in the camp.

The day wise report of the Seven Days Camp is as under:-

Day 1:    The first day of the Camp started with SSSS Anthem and a brief lecture mentioning the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji viz ‘Naam Japo, Kirat Karo, Vandd Chhakko’. Thereafter program officer shared the objectives and importance of NSS with the participants through a presentation. The senior faculty member Ms. Kiran Bala discussed the values of kindness and putting others before self. The participants were inspired to take upon the idea of “Service” for the welfare of humanity as a whole. Thoughts and ideas were exchanged by the students and faculty members on the topic ‘Not Me But Everything”. Duties were assigned to the volunteers in the afternoon session.

Day 2:    NSS volunteers started their day by prayer and meditation. Cleanliness drive was organized in and around the College Premises. Students cleaned the boundary wall of College. They removed the dust heaps from the road side and also planted the trees/saplings. A few volunteers worked in the library and helped in cleaning the cupboards and orderly arrangement of the books and newspapers. Post lunch hour was reserved for discussing social and psychological effects of drug abuse.

Day 3:     The day began with a Prayer and Yoga session. A rally was organised by NSS volunteers and faculty members to create awareness about the ill effects of plastic use in daily life. The volunteers also visited the Historical Ram Garden and held a cleanliness drive. Eatables were distributed to the underprivileged people in the surrounding areas.

Day 4:    NSS volunteers showed their creative skills by participating in Poster making and Slogan writing on the theme ‘Health is Wealth’. Thereafter a short movie ‘Tahan’ was shown to the volunteers. Movie was based upon the turmoil of terrorism affected families in Jammu and Kashmir. A brief session was held discussing the issues portrayed in the movie.  A post lunch session was held for planning activities for the subsequent days.

Day 5:    NSS team visited an NGO ‘Agosh’, Holding Hands. It is an NGO working for the differently- abled children. The volunteers   organized a small event comprising fun activities and an art &craft session. They interacted with special children and learned the values of compassion and service.

Day 6:    Under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Programme of Government, Two NSS volunteers presented a presentation on heritage of Punjab and Andhra Pradesh. Students dressed up themselves in cultural costumes of both states. They also shared and enjoyed the food of both states. Thereafter all Notice Boards of the College were cleaned and dressed up with fresh notices and newspaper cutting highlighting the activities of NSS Unit.

Day 7:    A closing function was organised wherein the report of the activities of the Seven days was shown by way of a multimedia presentation. A brief cultural programme was also presented. The highlights of the event was an act presented on the theme of “Conservation of Natural Resources.”

S. Jagdish Singh, Member Director and Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal College graced the occasion and highly lauded the zeal and enthusiasm of the NSS unit in spreading the message and spirit of service.                                                 

 

ALUMNI MEETING

To foster and promote close relations with the passed out students, the Alumni Meet was held in the College campus on December 31, 2019. 20 alumnae across various batches attended the meeting. While speaking on the occasion, the alumni shared their experiences in the outside world and expressed gratefulness to the alma mater for their holistic development. A play ‘Butt Bol Paye’ was also enacted on this day. This meet gave a chance to the alumni to reconnect with their institution and old friends. Honours were also accorded to the alumni by S. Jagdish Singh, M. Director and Principal, Dr. Navdeep Kaur. 

 

LOHRI CELEBRATIONS

The Cultural Committee of SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized Lohri Celebration on January 11, 2020 in the premises. The students from various departments presented cultural bonanza comprising Punjabi ‘Boliyan’, Lohri songs and traditional folk dance ‘Giddha’. The mood on the campus was upbeat and students enjoyed the programme with great zeal and fervour.

 

CA STUDENTS CONFERENCE 

Board of Studies ICAI organized ‘CA Students Conference – Amritsar’ on the theme ‘Path for Success – Learn, Adapt and Accelerate’. 12 students of B.Com Sem-V1 accompanied by 2 faculty members attended the conference at ICAI Bhawan, Amritsar on January 11, 2020.  The sessions on Digital Economy, Direct Taxation and Transfer Pricing gave fruitful insights to the students on recent amendments in Tax and Law regime. The resource person spoke on Stress Management and Time Management as well.

 

SEMINAR ON ‘ENHANCING INTERVIEW PREPARATION SKILLS ‘

Seminar on ‘Enhancing Interview Preparation skills’ was organised at Lafani Hall of the College on January 15, 2020. Mr. Rohan Mehra from Terra Education acted as a resource person for the seminar. He trained the students of BCA Sem VI and B.Sc Sem VI regarding handling interview questions and Group discussions. The resource person also gave tips to the students for effectively facing the interview panel and revealing their true potential. Dr. Payal (Asst. Prof in Commerce) and Ms. Kawaljit Kaur (Asst. Prof. in Computer Science) co-ordinated the seminar.

 

LETTER FROM WEATHER GODS – A STEP TOWARDS ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS

Cultural Committee of the College organised a special programme to celebrate ‘Maghi-Relevance of Magh month’ on January 15, 2020. The members of Cultural Committee enacted a play titled ‘A letter from the month Magh’. The play highlighted that a few changes in our daily routine can lead to creating mindful living. Ms. Sukhpinder Kaur (B.Com Sem-VI) presented a paper outlining the significance of universal laws in creating a healthy and balanced life style which can further lead to happy co-existence amongst all living beings – planet Earth. Ms. Ramya (Asst. Prof in Commerce) recited a poem on the theme of “Celebration of Life”. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal highly appreciated the endeavours of Cultural Committee to create awareness amongst the students regarding life itself. She urged the students to adopt habit for healthy eating and truthful living in order to lead a joyous and fulfilling life.

 

SWACHHTA PAKWADA PLEDGE CEREMONY

As per the guidelines of Ministry of Human Resource Development to celebrate ‘Swachhta Pakhwada 2020’, a pledge taking ceremony was organized at College on January 16, 2020. The students took the pledge to keep their surroundings clean and green. They also express their commitment to spread the message of cleanliness amongst the general public through social media platform and talks.

 

TALK ON SWACHHTA

In the context of ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada, a talk show on Cleanliness was organised in the College on January 20, 2020. Mrs. Savita Khanna initiated the discussion highlighting the value of Cleanliness as the basic human value. The Various participants brought into discussion the relevance of cleanliness quoting verses from Gurbani. The importance of this theme was further strengthened with reference to the mantra given by Mahatma Gandhi i.e. Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Various participants shared their personal experiences where they contributed to maintaining the cleanliness of their surroundings. Suggestions were given to instill this value in children and youth all the more.

 

CLEANLINESS DRIVE BY NSS VOLUNTEERS

Cleanliness Drive was being carried out in the College campus during recess time on January 21, 2020. The volunteers demonstrated the spirit by picking each bit of paper lying around in order to make the surrounding spick and span.

 

CAREER COUNSELING SESSION FOR THE STUDENTS OF +2

A Career Counseling session was organised by the College at Government Girls Sr. Sec. School, Amritsar on January 22, 2020. A panel of experts comprising Mrs. Savita Khanna, Mrs. Ashmeet Kaur and Mrs. Ravneet Arora detailed the students about the various career options available in the business, financial services and I.T. sector. They were also informed about the graduate and post-graduation courses which can make their qualification suitable for their choice of career option. The experts interacted with the students during the question answer session and satisfied their queries regarding the course contents, fee structure and scholarships etc. The students and the staff of the school were highly appreciative of the experts and thanked the College administration for organizing this session.

 

WORKSHOP ON LIFE SKILLS AND DEVELOPMENT

SSSS College of Commerce for Women organised a workshop on “Life skills and Development” on January 23 and January 24, 2020 in collaboration with ‘Mind Cropper’, a Mohali based organization. Dr. Gaurav Deora and Dr. Anupam Bhanot were the resource persons. They held three sessions a day of 90 minutes each comprising various drills, videos, case studies etc. 132 students from M.Com, B.Com, BBA, BCA and B.Sc (Eco) attended the workshop. Students found the workshop highly interactive and informative.

 

NATIONAL VOTER’S DAY CELEBRATIONS

On January 25, 2020, students of SSSS College of Commerce for Women commemorate the founding day of the election Commission of India also marked as National Voter’s Day by taking an Oath. Voter’s pledge was administered to faculty and 150 students to secure their commitment to the democratic values.  

 

CAREER COUNSELLING SESSION FOR THE STUDENTS OF SSSS KHALSA SR. SEC. SCHOOL

Career Counselling Session was organised for the +2 students of SSSS Khalsa Sr. Sec. School on January 27, 2020. Experts from the faculty Dr. Samriti Kapoor (Asst. Prof. in Commerce), Mrs. Ravneet Arora (Asst. Prof. in Economics) and Ms. Kawaljit Kaur (Asst. Prof. in Computer Science) made Power Point presentations and apprised the students regarding various career prospects and degree courses to be pursed after +2 in the field of Commerce, economics and computers. S. Jagdish Singh, Director, SSSS Institutions guided the students regarding the relevance of career planning in right direction at right time. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal motivated the students to choose career path wisely and informed the students regarding various facilities available for the students in the College. Students found the session highly useful at this junction when they are going to decide their future course.

 

POSTER MAKING AND SLOGAN WRITING COMPETITION

To observe ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada 2020, Creative Forum ‘Sirjana’ of the College organized various Competitions such as Poster making, Slogan Writing and Best out of Waste on January 27, 2020 and January 29, 2020. 15 students participated in the Best out of Waste activity and 32 students participated in Poster Making and Slogan Writing and portrayed their ideas. SEMINAR ON LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES – LIC OF INDIA

A Seminar on ‘Life Insurance Policies- LIC of India’ was organised by the Department of Commerce and Business Administration in the Rose Villa Hall on January 28, 2020. A Team of experts from LIC comprising S. Rachpal Singh (Asst. Branch Manager), Mr. Sanjeev Handa (Asst. Administrative Officer), and Ms. Mandeep Kaur (Senior Asst.) acted as resource persons. S. Rachpal Singh explained the concept of Insurance and its relevance as long term investment. He elaborated the various types of insurance policies along with its practical implications. Mr. Sanjay Handa highlighted the career prospects LIC and also apprised the students regarding intricacies involved in insurance business. Experts also handled the queries of students regarding job prospects and insurance plans. The students found this seminar highly enriching and informative.

 

SEMINAR ON ‘CAREER AS COMPANY SECRETARY’

A Career Counselling Seminar on ‘Career as Company Secretary’ was organized in the College on January 31, 2020 by the Department of Commerce and Business Administration. Mr. Manish, Manager, Amritsar Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India was the resource person. He acquainted the students of B.Com and BBA regarding the role and responsibilities of a Company Secretary in the corporate world. He also explained the course content, fee structure, and examination schedule and registration procedure to the students and also spoke about the job prospects after completing the CS course. The session was quite interactive and informative.

 

SEMINAR ON ‘PROGRAMMING LOGIC’

Department of Computer Science of SSSS College of Commerce for Women organized a seminar on ‘Programming logic’ on January 31, 2020. Dr. Rachhpal Singh, Assistant Professor from PG Department of Computer Science and Application, Khalsa College, Amritsar was the resource person. He presented the subject matter in highly interesting and though provoking manner. The entire discourse revolved around the basic idea how the creator has devised the super complex system of its creation and how smooth and efficient it works when aligned to His virtues. Thus by correlating the topic to the natural order of God Dr. Rachhpal Singh motivated the students to simplify and understand every logic of life including Programming Logic.  He made a PowerPoint presentation and explained the content in a very interesting manner by relating it to spirituality. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal welcomed the guest and briefed him regarding the achievements of the College. 111 Students of B.Sc Sem II, B.Sc Sem IV, BCA Sem II and BCA Sem IV attended the seminar. Members of student Council presented a sapling as a token of gratitude and Ms. Amisha Sharma of BCA Sem II extended vote of thanks to the guest.

 

QUIZ ON GENERAL AWARENESS

The NSS Department of the College organized a Quiz Competition on General Awareness about Punjab and Andhra Pradesh. Preliminary round was conducted on February 4, 2020. 36 students from B.Com, B.Com (F.S), BBA, and BCA participated in this round. Out of which 9 students were shortlisted for the final round. Three teams comprising 3 students each contested in the final round held on February 6, 2020. Team A comprising Tanvi Khanna (B.Com Sem II-A), Bharti Sharma (BBA Sem IV) and Neha (BCA Sem IV) scored the highest and were declared the winner. Towards the end, Director S. Jagdish Singh and Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur gave away prizes and certificates to the winners.

 

UNION BUGDET 2020 : A DISCUSSION 

Department of Economics jointly with Department of Commerce organised a group discussion on ‘Union Budget-2020’ on February 8, 2020. A panel of six students viz. Saranpreet Kaur (B.Com (F.S) Sem -II), Ishita (B.Com Sem -II), Arpita (B.Sc (Eco) Sem VI), Niytee (B.Sc (Eco) Sem VI), Jhanvi (B.Com Sem VI) and Vanshika (B.Com (F.S) Sem II) presented the highlights of the Budget. It was then followed by an interactive session wherein students raised queries and discussed the pros and cons of the budget. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal addressed the gathering and provided an insight to different facts of the Budget. It was followed by an interactive session where students put across their queries and various issues related to environment conservation, safety of women etc. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal informed the students about certain unique tradition followed by the Ministry of Finance while drafting the Budget. She shared the education and career profile of Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Minister of India and urged the students to adopt a positive attitude to involve oneself ___ whatever they do so as to enjoy “Ease of studying” which will ultimately lead to “Ease of Living” in which has been the theme of Budget. On the Whole this session offered a highly interesting and enriching learning experience to all the participants.86 students from various courses viz. B.Com, BBA and B.Sc attended the session and found it highly informative and useful.

SEMINAR ON ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE

Department of Commerce and Business Administration organised a seminar on Accounting Software on February 10, 2020. CA Mr. Iqbal Singh was the resource person and he acquainted the students with the basic features of various accounting softwares such as Tally, Busy, Quick Books etc. being used by Business Organizations in India and abroad. He also explained to the students the key differences among these software’s, and their applicability worldwide as well as in India. The session was quite informative for the students

FINANCIAL EDUCATION: A LIFE SKILL 

A seminar on ‘Financial Education: A Life Skill’ was organised in the Lafani Hall of the College on February 11, 2020. Mr. Kuldeep Thareja, General Manager, National Institute of Securities Market, Mumbai acted as a resource person. He apprised the students regarding importance of Financial Education as a necessary life skill. He linked the life goals with financial goals and highlighted the power of compounding in systematic investment plans. He further elaborated the safety and protection aspect and enlightened the students regarding various government insurance schemes offered by the banks at nominal premium rates. The students found the seminar highly interesting, interactive and thought provoking.

 

INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY 

Speaker Forum ‘Spark’ organised an elocution contest to mark the International Youth Day on February 14, 2020. The event was initiated by presentation on the ideology and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda made by Ms. Sukhpinder Kaur of B.Com Sem VI followed by contest wherein the participants expressed their views on the topics such as ‘Pomp and Show off in Punjabi Wedding’, ‘Mobile Phones- Boom or Ban’, ‘Humans- real threat to life on earth’ etc. The panel of judges comprised Mrs. Vijay Laxmi and Ms. Kiran Bala, the faculty members who accessed each contestant and gave their judgment as follows:

Since February 14, 2020 is celebrated as Valentine’s Day worldwide, Ms. Harpreet Kaur (Asst. Prof. in Punjabi) and Ms. Ramya (Asst. Prof. in Commerce) appraised the students with Saint Valentine so as to enable the students to understand the vision of Valentine’s Day in a true sense. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal addressed the gathering and explained the students the endeavors of the College behind such competition i.e. to build competency and develop art of public speaking. She highly appreciated the efforts of the participants and motivated them to know themselves and develop sense of curiosity to come out of the feeling of boredom.

 

ACHIEVEMENTS IN INTER COLLEGE EVENT ‘BRAINSTORM 2020’

An inter- College competition ‘BRAINSTORM-2020’ was organised by PG Department of Commerce and Business Administration, KMV College, Jalandhar on February 20, 2020. Our College participated in the events viz. Vigyapan, Group Discussion and Quiz. College team comprising of students viz. Ridhan (M.Com Sem IV), Aditi Mehra (M.Com Sem IV),Sukhpinder Kaur (B.Com Sem VI), Jasmeen Kaur (B.Com Sem VI) and Jasmeet Kaur (BBA Sem VI) won first prize in the event Vigyapan. The quiz team comprising Upinderjit Kaur (B.Com Sem IV-A), Amandeep Kaur (M.Com Sem IV) and Prabhjot Kaur (BBA Sem IV) bagged the second prize in the Competition.

 

WORKSHOP ON INCOME TAX, E-FILING AND GST

Department of Commerce and Business Administration organized Workshops for the students of B.Com Sem VI. Two workshops each of 16 hours duration were held on ‘Goods & Service Tax’ and another of same duration was held on ‘Income Tax & E-Filing’. C.A. Gaurav Sharma and C.A. Iqbal Singh were the resource persons.

In the workshop on GST, Mr. Gaurav Sharma outlined the process of registration under GST, Filing of returns, Generation of E-way bill, preparation of invoices etc.

Students learnt about current practices followed in the field of GST & Income Tax through these workshops. They also worked on real life cases of filing e- return so as to get hands on experience on the subject.

 

“RUN FOR CLEAN AND FIT AMRITSAR”

In order to promote plogging, a run for “Clean and Fit Amritsar” was organised by GI Rendezvous Gastroenterology and Liver Forum, Amritsar. Faculty and students participated in 5 K.M. race so as to be a part of first event of its kind region and encourage healthy living among people

 

TECH FEST 2020 

In order to hone the technical skills of the students, Department of Computer Science organised Tech Fest at SSSS College of Commerce for Women, The Mall, Amritsar. The lab based events- Bug Hunting and Logic Whirlpool were already conducted on February 18, 2020. In Poster Making and Collage Making, participants created posters and collage on theme of I.T. The on stage event ‘Paper Presentation’ was held on February 27, 2020. Students presented their views on latest innovations in the field of IT viz. Blue Eyes, Edge Computing, Smart City, Social Media, Virtual Reality, Blue Brain etc. in the form of Power Point presentation. Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur appreciated the efforts of all the participants. She asked the students to be fully equipped with knowledge and innate qualities so as not to be enslaved by machines. SEMINAR BY TRAFFIC POLICE AMRITSAR 

A seminar was organized by the Traffic Police, Amritsar on February 28, 2020. The focus of the talk was ‘Safety of Women’. Mr. Anoop Saini, Inspector Traffic Police, Amritsar and their associates were the resource persons. They guided and apprised the students with the new traffic rules and penalties in case of their violation under new Motor Vehicle Act. They further urged the students to drive safely and follow the safety instructions viz. wearing helmet and carrying complete documents while driving. They also informed them about various facilities being provided by the Punjab Police at Sanjh Kendra, various helpline numbers such as 112, 1091 etc., apps such as ‘Shakti’ and even pick and drop facility provided by the police to women in need between 9:00pm to 6:00am.  A complaint box ‘Himmat di Awaz’ was also installed at the college campus. Principal, Staff and students expressed their thankfulness for this highly informative discourse.

 

ARDAS DIVAS 

The Bhog of Sehaj Path was performed by the student and the staff members of the college in order to seek the blessings of Waheguru. Hymns from Gurbani were recited by the students and the teachers. The students and the faculty members who performed Gurmat Seva were accorded honours on this occasion.

SEMINAR ON CERVICAL CANCER

A Seminar on Cervical Cancer – Awareness, Prevention and Diagnosis was organized at the Lafani Hall of the College on March 7, 2020. Dr. Ishita Sharma, Chief Gynaecologist, EMC Hospital, Amritsar acted as a resource person. She threw light on statistics related to cervical cancer in India and rest of the world. She also made students aware about its Symptoms, diagnosis and treatment. She further informed the students regarding preventive vaccination available for this type of cancer and the right age to get vaccination.

 

PUNJAB BUDGET 2020: A DISCUSSION

A discussion session on Punjab Budget-2020 was organised in the Lafani hall of the College on March 13, 2020. The students shared their perspectives on different aspects of allocation in various sectors viz. agriculture, education, health and rural development etc. The students of different classes and members of faculty attended the discussion. The session was quite interesting and interactive. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal also encouraged the students to participate in such discussions to sharpen their acumen and wider their horizon.

 

SHORT COURSE ON TALLY ERP 9.0 & BUSY

A Short Course on the Accounting Software Tally & Busy was organised in the College from February 18, 2020 to March 14, 2020. CA Ankit Marwaha was the resource person of this workshop. It was attended by 44 students from B.Com, BBA and M.Com streams. Students were given hands-on training in the creation of company, journal and ledger posting, voucher entries, preparation of debit note, credit note etc. Students participated in the discussion of different aspects of accounting softwares enthusiastically. This Short Course was coordinated by Mrs. Savita Khanna and Dr. Payal.

 

POSTER MAKING AND COLLAGE MAKING

An Awareness Campaign on how to save ourselves from coronavirus organised by Guru Nanak Dev University in the month of April. Students of NSS unit from our college participated through Poster making and Collage making for the same.

 

ONLINE TRAINING PROGRAM

District Bureau of Employment, Amritsar organised an online training program via virtual platform-Zoom meeting app in collaboration with Training Partner-Vocman India for the final year students of different colleges. Around 150 students of our college from B. Com, B. Sc(Economics), BBA and BCA attended this training program from May 4,2020 to May 18,2020.  Different sessions covering divergent areas like Presentation and Dressing, Body Language, Verbal and Written Communication, Team Work, Building Relationships, Strategies to the right Job Search, The Framework of Accurate CVs and How to apply Online were organised for the students. The students found this training program quite interesting and informative.

ONLINE SESSION ON ‘WORKING OF DBEE DURING COVID-19 PERIOD’

District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises (DBEE) Amritsar conducted an online session on ‘Working of DBEE during Covid-19 Period’ on June 5-6, 2020. The session was attended by 83 final year students of the College. The resource person Ms Bharti Sharma, Career Counsellor, DBEE Amritsar apprised the participants regarding the various employment opportunities available in the public and private sector. She guided the participants to strengthen their technical skills in order to stand out from the crowd. She also encouraged the female participants to choose skill-based courses. WORKSHOP ON GOOGLE CLASSROOM AND GOOGLE MEET

A Faculty Development Programme was conducted by Department of Computer Science of the College for teachers from June 16, 2020 to June 23, 2020. Staff members were made aware on row to use Google Classroom and Google Meet as tools for online teaching. After 6 days of orientation, Practice sessions were also held for hands on learning of the faculty.

 

YOGA SESSION

Online Yoga Session was organized by SSSS College of Commerce for Women, The Mall, Amritsar on June 21, 2020 to observe International Day of Yoga. Students from various classes attended the live Yoga session. Ms. Devika Sharma and Ms. Maninder Kaur, yoga experts shared the benefits of Yoga and Pranayama with the students and also emphasized the role of Asanas and Pranayama during the world crisis of COVID-19. The students along with experts performed a few significant physical and mental exercises which help in improving their immunity and respiratory disorders. Mrs. Savita Khanna, NSS Nodal Officer, Co-ordinated the session.

Poster Making competition

Poster Making competition was organized by the College on June 26, 2020 to observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Students created thoughtful posters depicting the harmful effects of taking drugs.

‘E-COMFEST 2020’

Department of Computer Science, P.T. Mohan Lal S.D. College for Women, Gurdaspur organised an Online National Competition ‘E-COMFEST 2020’ on June 16, 2020. Students of B.Com Sem VI and BBA Sem VI participated in the slogan writing event on the topic Self-reliant India and Sukhpinder Kaur of B.Com Sem VI got first position in the event ‘Say It Loud’ on Topic ‘Mask India’. 

COLLAGE MAKING 

Sri Guru Teg Bahadur College of Education, Khankot (Amritsar) conducted an Inter-College Online Competition on June 19, 2020. Students of our college participated in the Collage Making on COVID-19 event. Kajal of BBA Sem VI bagged 3rd prize and Bharti Sharma of BBA Sem IV won consolation prize in the ‘Collage Making on COVID-19 event.

 

ONLINE NATIONAL LEVEL QUIZ COMPETITION

IUPAC and PG department of Computer Science of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Daroli Kalan, conducted an Online National level Quiz Competition: India 2020 (Current Affairs) on June 24, 2020 Tanvi Kapoor of B.Com sem VI scored 90% in the competition.

 

SLOGAN WRITING AND POSTER MAKING 

Guru Nanak Dev University conducted Slogan Writing and Poster Making event to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Some students of degree classes participated in the event.

 

DEBATE AND DECLAMATION COMPETITION 

An ‘Inter College Online Debate and Declamation Competition on COVID-19’ was organized by Mohan Lal Memorial Institute of Education, Amritsar in June 26, 2020. The students of M.Com Sem II, B.Com Sem IV and BCA Sem II represented our College in the Competition. Amisha Sharma of BCA Sem II bagged First prize in Declamation contest on the topic ‘Role of Mass Media during Covid-19 Pandemic’. Amanpreet Kaur of B. Com Sem IV and Mehakdeep Kaur of M.Com Sem II won consolation prizes in the Debate contest on ‘Online Education: A New Reality for Educational Institutions during COVID-19’.
