Report on ‘From Campus to Corporate: Makeup & Grooming Essentials’ (July 09, 2026)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar organized a one-hour workshop titled “From Campus to Corporate: Makeup & Grooming Essentials” on 09 July 2026 for final-year students of B.Com, BBA, B.Com (Financial Services), B.Sc. Economics and BCA and M.Com.

The resource person, Ms. Pradisha Sharma, Assistant Professor in Cosmetology, Shahzada Nand College, Amritsar, highlighted the importance of professional grooming, corporate etiquettes and confidence in building a successful career.

The workshop featured a hands-on session on day makeup, where students learned simple and professional makeup techniques suitable for interviews and the workplace. Ms. Sharma also shared valuable skincare and makeup tips to help students maintain a polished corporate appearance.

The session was interactive, with enthusiastic student participation and a lively question-answer round. It was,indeed, an informative and practical workshop that prepared students to present themselves confidently in the corporate world.

Heartiest congratulations to Kashish Kapoor of B.Sc. (Economics), Batch of 2024, on receiving her Degree, Gold Medal, and Merit Certificate at the 51st Annual Convocation of Guru Nanak Dev University held on 12 July 2026.

The honours were conferred in the esteemed presence of Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, as the Chief Guest, and S. Harjot Singh Bains, Hon’ble Minister of School Education and Higher Education, Punjab.

Three-day Faculty Development Programme (14 July 2026 to 16 July 2026)

The IQAC Unit of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, in collaboration of ICT Academy inaugurated a three-day Faculty Development Programme  from 14 July 2026 to 16 July 2026 on the college campus under the visionary Director S. Jagdish Singh ji and  the able guidance of Dr. Manmohan Singh, Additional Director.  The FDP focused on the theme ‘Solving Problems & Making Decisions’. Principal Ms. Harpreet Kaur Uppal and Dr. Surinder Kaur Walia, OSD (Academics) highlighted the need of organizing such learning programmes. While addressing the gathering, Mr. Lovetesh Kumar from ICT Academy emphasized the need of making students and faculty industry-ready and building their emotional resilience in the present age of AI.The resource person Ms. Puneet Kaur, Corporate and Academics Trainer, during her interactive sessions focused on topics that included emotional intelligence, concious and un-concious invisible decisions, reactive choices to structured academic leadership, different descision styles,  the challenges and biases involved in making good decisions, relevance of framing the right problem, critical thinking, ethical decision making in higher education and alike. She conducted engaging ice-breaking activities, interactive discussions, and case studies to introduce participants to effective problem-solving techniques and decision-making strategies. Around 22 faculty members from different colleges attended the enriching  sessions.  Dr. Samriti Kapoor and Ms. Kawaljit Kaur coordinated the programme successfully.

Morning Assembly (July 28, 2026)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar hosted a warm and inspiring Morning Assembly for all first-year students across two sessions on July 28,2026.

The event commenced with the divine blessings with recitation of Mool Mantra, College Shabad and Ardas, setting a serene and soulful tone for the upcoming academic session.

​ S. Jagdish Singh Ji, Director and Ms. Harpreet Kaur Uppal, Principal extended their heartfelt greetings to the new batch.

In her welcome address, Principal highlighted the college’s rich legacy of blending tradition, academic rigor, and innovation, while underscoring the vital role of discipline and punctuality in shaping long-term career success.

Dr. Samriti Kapoor introduced a wide array of value-added and skill-enhancement programs—including four Boot Camps, NSDC-certified SETU courses, foreign language certification in French & German, Tally, QuickBooks, and MOOCs—designed to build future-ready professionals.

Dr. Tina briefed students on the college code of conduct, nurturing a culture of integrity and mutual respect.

Seminar on ‘The First 1000 Days’ (July 29, 2026)

The Rotaract Club of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, in collaboration with the Rotary Club Amritsar Central, organized a seminar on ‘The First 1000 Days’ under the guidance of Director S. Jagdish Singh Ji on July 29, 2026. The program commenced with the recitation of the National Anthem. 

Principal Ms. Harpreet Kaur Uppal, in her welcome address, motivated students to uphold the Rotary motto of ‘Service Above Self’. She also emphasized the importance of health and balanced nutrition.

The session was enriched by Rtn. Dr. Gurpreet Chhabra, President, Rotary Club Amritsar Central, who spoke about the significance of maternal and child health.

The keynote address was delivered by Rtn. Dr. Manmeet Sodhi, HOD, Department of Pediatrics, Government Medical College, Amritsar. She highlighted the fact that the ‘first 1000 days’ are the foundation of a child’s life. She further stressed the importance of a balanced diet, breastfeeding, timely vaccination, physical activity, love and care, along with reducing the use of plastic and mobile phones to ensure a healthy and happy future for children.

The event was graced by DGN Rtn. H.S. Jogi, Dr. Surinder Kaur, OSD Academics, Rtn. Rakesh Kapoor, Club Chairman, Rtn. Ravneet Aneja, Club Secy, and other distinguished guests.

Rtn. Pawan Kapoor proposed a vote of thanks towards the end of the session. 

The program was successfully coordinated by Dr. Samriti Kapoor and Dr. Tina Vohra. Students found the session insightful and enriching.

Teeyan Festival with Great Zest and Cultural Fervour (July 30, 2026)

SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar in collaboration with SSSS Khalsa Senior Secondary School, celebrated the vibrant festival of Teeyan on July 30, 2026 with immense enthusiasm, reflecting the cultural heritage and rich tradition of Punjab. The event witnessed the gracious presence of the respected Director, S. Jadgish Singh Ji, Principal, Harpreet Kaur Uppal, and Dr. Surinder Kaur Walia (OSD) Academics). 

A variety of competitions were held as part of the celebration including  Best Punjabi Attire, Best Photography and Reel making competition. 

The panel of judges included Principal, Bajinder Kaur, Mrs. Harbir Kaur, and Dr. Amandeep Kaur. 

 Ms. Banroj Kaur of Class 10 was adjudged the winner of the Best Punjabi Attire competition.

The college campus came alive with colourful decorations, traditional Punjabi attire, folk music, and an atmosphere filled with joy and festivity. Students showcased their talent by setting up stalls featuring imitation jewelry, mehandi, handmade rakhis, eatables, etc. 

Our esteemed guests included Sardarni Swarn Kaur Ji, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Additional Director, Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Dean SSSS College of Arts,  and S. Jagjit Singh Jaggi. 

The dignitaries appreciated and encouraged students to remain connected with their cultural roots. They highlighted the importance of preserving traditional values and promoting cultural awareness among the younger generation.

The Teeyan Festival not only celebrated Punjab’s vibrant heritage but also strengthened the spirit of unity, togetherness, and cultural pride among everyone present.

SSSS College Launches Skill-Based Bootcamps to Empower Students Beyond the Curriculum (August 8, 2026)

In its continued endeavour to equip students with industry-relevant competencies, practical knowledge, and future-ready skills, SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, has launched three specialized bootcamps tailored to different stages of academic growth. Designed to address developmental needs beyond the standard syllabus, the progressive initiative drew an overwhelming response, with over 195 students registering across three targeted tracks: the FinTech Bootcamp for Semester-I, the Entrepreneurial Skills Bootcamp for Semester III, and the Career & Employability Skills Bootcamp for Semester-V.

The inaugural sessions were held on August 8, 2026, marking the commencement of a structured journey toward practical and professional empowerment. The FinTech Bootcamp opened with a session by Mr. Satnam Rana—Founder of Rana Investments, Certified Financial Planner, CNBC TV18 Financial Advisor Awardee, and Trainer at the Financial Planning Academy, Mumbai. He introduced first-year students to the fundamentals of financial literacy, structured financial planning, risk assessment, and informed decision-making, emphasizing key habits such as saving and distinguishing needs from wants. This track was coordinated by Dr. Tina Vohra, Assistant Professor in Commerce, and Mrs. Ravneet Arora, Assistant Professor in Economics.

Simultaneously, the Entrepreneurial Skills Bootcamp engaged third-semester students in recognizing and cultivating their business potential. Participants evaluated individual strengths and key entrepreneurial traits through an interactive sticky-note self-assessment. To bridge theory with real-world application, college alumna Ms. Aastha set up a live bakery stall, offering students firsthand exposure to product display, customer engagement, and micro-business management. The session concluded with students mapping three personal passions into concrete business concepts for further development in subsequent modules, under the coordination of Mrs. Harpreet Kaur and Mrs. Monica Chhabra, Assistant Professors in Commerce.

Rounding out the program, the Career & Employability Skills Bootcamp for fifth-semester students featured CS Pooja Verma, who highlighted the evolving strategic relevance of the Company Secretary role in the modern corporate landscape.

Cs Harpreet Walia was also present in the  session. She provided comprehensive guidance on navigating the CS course structure, including the entrance examination, executive, and professional levels. Coordinated by Dr. Samriti Kapoor and Ms. Mamta Arora, Assistant Professors in Commerce, the session, along with the broader initiative, delivered an interactive, insightful experience that established a strong benchmark for experiential learning and professional readiness across the institution.
