SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, successfully organized a one-day educational visit for the students of BBA, B.Com, B.Com (FS), BCA and B.Sc. Around 150 students, accompanied by six faculty members, participated in the visit, which aimed to promote experiential learning and provide students with first-hand exposure to the rich historical, cultural and archaeological heritage of Punjab.
The educational journey commenced with a visit to Virasat-e-Khalsa, Sri Anandpur Sahib, where the students explored exhibits depicting the history, heritage, culture and traditions of Punjab and Sikhism. The visit provided an enriching learning experience by connecting historical and cultural knowledge with an impressive museum environment.
The students then visited Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib, where they paid obeisance and partook of Guru ka Langar. The visit provided an opportunity to experience the values of equality, selfless service, humility and community participation associated with the Sikh tradition.
The final destination was the Archaeological Museum and archaeological site at Ropar (Rupnagar). Students observed archaeological remains and artefacts that offered valuable insights into the region’s ancient history and material culture. The visit helped them understand the importance of archaeological evidence in reconstructing and preserving the past.
The educational visit proved to be an enriching experience, combining history, heritage, culture and experiential learning beyond the classroom.
